They’ve been shivering for so long it feels painful. Their muscles are so sore from the constant shaking. They’re wrapped up in five blankets but it’s still just so cold. They’re rubbing their hands up and down their arms as they’re curled up in a ball but it doesn’t help in the slightest. They’re so tired but the shivering keeps them awake. Their S.O. walks up to them and runs cool fingers across their forehead, sending another violent wave of shivers through them. They groan and are about to complain when they feel another body slide into their blanket cocoon with them. Arms wrap around their waist and pull them into their chest as confident hands rub circles into their back. The extra heat and gentle touch slowly halts the tremors. They feel their tight muscles finally relax and they can’t even get a “thank you” out before they take a deep breath and finally pass out.

A stoic Character who is getting tortured for days, finally is found and rescued by their teammates. To their great horror, they barely recognize them - their time in the captive situation left them broken and weak, and their team is genuinely scared when their usually stoic and strong leader lays in a hospital bed, pale, bloody and hurt, quietly crying with their back turned to the room. They're ashamed and scared, trying to hold back as much as possible, but they're also desperate for comfort. They don't know how to ask for it and their team doesn't know if it would be welcome. They awkwardly hover, not daring to come too close.
Eventually, the youngest/physically smallest teammate has enough. They carefully climb into bed to join their leader, wrapping themselves around them and hold them close. This is when they finally allow themselves to fully break down, held in the protective, warm arms of their teammate, all ranks be damned. It feels good to be held and loved and protected.
You actually made me tear up with this one. Well done.
