Out Of Context Things Director Lazard Has Seen On The SOLDIER Floor

• Sephiroth carrying an unconscious, bloody-nosed Genesis in a fireman's carry out of the men's room. When asked, his only response was "Don't worry, he's not dead yet."

• Angeal crawling out of a cupboard in the break room with a neck pillow.

• Zack carrying around an iceberg lettuce, a bottle of ranch and taking bites out of it like a sandwich.

• Genesis rolling around in an office chair using a broomstick as a makeshift paddle.

• Sephiroth and his salad bowl filled with Udon. This has been seen a total of 8 different times.

• Angeal giving Genesis a piggyback ride, Sephiroth giving Zack a piggyback ride, they're having a race.

• Zack hanging up a poster that reads "HAVE YOU SEEN THIS GUY? NOW YOU HAVE :)" and it's just a picture of Cloud Strife.

• Genesis and Angeal stuck on opposite sides of a chinese finger trap while Sephiroth loses his shit, on the floor laughing.

• The following dialogue:

Angeal: Genesis, sit up straight.

Sephiroth: Let him sit gay.

• He walked by Sephiroth's office and he was in there, working at his desk, with 6 glow stick necklaces around his neck.

• Angeal dragging Zack and Cloud by their ears while the pair goes "ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow"

• Genesis sitting in the break room, swirling a glass of wine and completing a coloring book.

• Zack dropping down from an air vent with a super soaker strapped to his back.

• Angeal having a fight with a revolving door and losing.

• Cloud Strife in his infantry uniform, sitting in Sephiroth's office reading a magazine, lemonade in hand, 2 PM on a Tuesday. When asked he said he was answering the phone while Sephiroth was out. The phone was actively ringing during this and he was ignoring it.

• Sephiroth, Genesis, Angeal, Zack and Cloud all piled onto a luggage cart, using their legs to maneuver it. Zack is standing up going "HEAVE—HEAVE—HEAVE"

• He's seen either Sephiroth and Genesis minding their own business when all of a sudden the other attacks them.

• Angeal sitting in a cardboard box eating a sandwich. The box says "THE CALM DOWN BOX"

• Sephiroth boiling pasta in the electric kettle in the break room.

• Zack sitting in the Calm Down Box™ with his face literally looking like ">:(" while Angeal stands over him with an electric fly swatter.

• He heard Genesis's loud singing echoing from the men's room, followed by Angeal's quiet "we can't even pee in peace anymore"

• Sephiroth and Genesis sitting in the Calm Down Box™ arguing over the correct pronunciation of "data"

They are coming back!

Been hella busy, so haven’t had a chance to celebrate the news until now. FFVII is important to me in ways I can’t describe, and has played some part in all the major decisions I’ve made in my adult life. Like most oldschool fans, I’m slightly apprehensive about the remake (esp considering what Dirge did to my favourite character)… but my excitement far outweighs any other feelings.

Can’t wait to go back home to Midgar and see all these excellent folks again!

It was a genuine pleasure working with author Mo Gallagher and artist/designer AJ Hately of Gametee UK to produce the Nibelheim Incident novella, presented by Kupocon and debuted at the Pomathon event in Birmingham in September 2018.

Now that the novella is free to download for the public, I’m finally able to post all the chapter artwork I did over the last year or so.

We’re all very proud of what we’ve put together and hope you will enjoy our efforts.

three-materia-blog asked you: So I, uh, really didn’t like the way Lucrecia was portrayed in Dirge of Cerberus in some ways–she reminded me of Tumblr when they have server problems, honestly–but I don’t think I have much insight into why people like her, outside of “well that was some really questionable characterization, yo.” So do you mind sharing what your favorite, say, two or three personality traits of hers are? (If that’s okay?)

No problem, and thank you for asking! I will try to keep this as brief as possible:

What I love most about Lucrecia is the fact she’s a walking conflict of interests. Fans of Neon Genesis Evangelion might recall one Dr. Naoko Akagi, a brilliant mind who built three supercomputers designed to place the key aspects of herself - the scientist, the woman, and the mother - in competition, and that’s essentially how I see Lucrecia as well.

The scientist - an ambitious academic prodigy struggling with ridicule from the wider scientific community over a thesis she poured her heart and soul into. An intellectual who tried to suppress emotion with logic - who saw that her child would change the entire world forever if she could step back from her maternal instincts and him go.

The woman - grieving from the loss of a man who she saw, perhaps, as more than just a mentor, and tormented by his shadow everyday when she looked into the eyes of his son. She loved Vincent, but couldn’t stand to have him around. Then, there was the other one beside her who didn’t seem affected by anything, who didn’t seem to feel anything (besides the professional frustration she understood all too well) - and in her longing to be free of all the confusion and guilt of the Valentines’ love, she fell for Hojo as well.

The mother - plagued by doubt as the pregnancy advanced, growing more attached to the child who, despite the God he would supposedly become, was still going to be a little baby when he first arrived into the world. She had, perhaps, always believed she was doing the right thing by him, but the increasing complications both internally and externally forced her to question all her choices.

I think Lucrecia tried too hard to be too much, and ultimately it was her own good intentions that destroyed her. She lived through a very particular set of circumstances which meant the scientist, woman, and mother aspects of herself clashed spectacularly and simply could not coexist, and by the end a compromise wasn’t even possible. She couldn’t give up one aspect to save the others, so she had to give up on it all.

And that truly terrible internal struggle is why I love Lucrecia. I understand some people view her actions as unforgivable, and I’m not trying to justify what she did. But to say that she should’ve just, say, run off with Vincent and saved Sephiroth etc, would be grossly oversimplifying her character.

I hope that all made sense! I tried to keep my own headcanon out of this as much as possible and just work off canon, but if anyone’s interested in headcanon please feel free to ask as well. :)

#ohhh this is the first interpretation of Lucrecia I truly like #this is canon in my head now #there’s so many things she’s guilty of including well everything that happened to Vincent BUT #to simply paint her as either someone weak or someone evil would be to demonize the extraordinary character that she is #she’s so complicated and I really love that in a character #I also love that there are so many things we can simply speculate about. like was she trying to save Vincent by infusing him with chaos ? #the same entity that killed Grimoire her mentor and Vincent’s dad? why? #her mental state was not in the best shape after everything that happened so did she decide to simply use Vincent as a test subject? #I have a theory that she was trying to keep Chaos ‘safe’ with Vincent. she never expected hojo to actually fully experiment on Vincent. #I don’t believe she willingly gave seph away. #I do believe knowing what hojo was planing for Vincent. how she had inadvertently helped and what that meant for seph ultimately made her #kill herself. and I also hc that after the events of DoC. Chaos actually returns to Vincent b #and Vincent welcomes chaos (after all they are already intertwined with eachother) but not because he has to but because he wants to. #and after Vincent knows what truly happened he can finally let go of Lucrecia and he does. #and that makes lucrecia’s soul sorta able to finally rest in the lifestream and Vincent able to finally live #anyways. #that’s my personal opinion haha #ffvii #lucrecia crescent #vincent valentine #dirge of cerberus #ff7
