had the most insane esurience dream last night. it was all like landscapes and broad shots of these huge ass mountains. also ashe and adrienne got a lil sillay.

the thing about magic in esurience is that everything i happen to know about it is useless to the info i need to actually worldbuild with it

like idk who can use it, idk exactly how or why magical creatures Are, idk exactly what it can be used for or how it has been discovered and cultivated

but i know its cold? and it has something to do with breath/breathing, as it must be exhaled...or maybe that's just one kind of way to use it,,

#is there a way to have magic inherently or can anyone learn it #bleh

my problem with esurience being a travel story is that i fucking hate travel stories. but i made esurience a travel story cus i was like why dont i like travel stories. im gonna make one i like.

but so far to make one i like it requires making intricately detailed maps. yes, i DO know everything about this fictional 200km² piece of land, why do you ask

#map building is very good for worldbuilding tho #and also forcing yourself to learn about. ugh. distances.

in esurience, gods don't represent things or concepts so much as they represent people and regions. each god has its territory, and within that territory they tend to the lineages they've created and grown there

it's like a bunch of guys who cut up the planet and started gardening, except sometimes they trespass or someone's garden looks like shit. and sometimes someone makes a nuclear reactor in their garden and it blows up and fucks up a bunch of other people's gardens.

#ler'mund is an HOA neighbourhood and the gods are middle-aged white suburbanite women #with nothing better to do than go to war within their own neighbourhood #except make all the suburbanites also autistic freaks #esurience

i feel like yall have this special ability to point at the least developed aspects of my wips and go "oooo tell me about that one" (loving) (just means i am now FORCED to develop it)

So Yenna!!! Is a spotted gnole (proper name pending, maybe just...a Merkoff Gnole. yeah,,) merkoff gnole, which are the gnoles who decided to remain social and not isolate themselves after their curse (some of the details of which have already changed) and in the modern day are an oppressed people living in the Land of Ava

Yenna herself isn't bad off, though! She has quite a bit of personal wealth, a few husbands, and of course her three pups. She's one of the King's favourite scouts, and gets touted around quite as bit as this "perfect example of a gnole"

more specifically, she has a keen sense of smell, sharp enough to track someone from across the continent. think of her like a royal bounty hunter, or a noble's favourite hunting dog.

phew okay this took a disgusting amount of work (far more work that it should have to be QUITE honest) but i did it!!  a comic sans presentation about my webcomic, Esurience, which you can read the first however many pages @esurience-comic​!  It’s still very much a work in progress that I’ve only just started doing pages for, but it’s getting somewhere slowly but surely

In the meantime, do feel free to send me asks about the world/characters.  just to warn you tho once you get me started on it i will NOT shut up.
