It’s disturbing to me how high school is like a blatant survivor of the fittest thing now it’s like they throw all these kids with various budding issues together and say whoever gets out at an ivy or with the most scholarships you won! the rest are filler

This is a summary of college only using two pictures; expensive as hell.
That’s my Sociology “book”. In fact what it is is a piece of paper with codes written on it to allow me to access an electronic version of a book. I was told by my professor that I could not buy any other paperback version, or use another code, so I was left with no option other than buying a piece of paper for over $200. Best part about all this is my professor wrote the books; there’s something hilariously sadistic about that. So I pretty much doled out $200 for a current edition of an online textbook that is no different than an older, paperback edition of the same book for $5; yeah, I checked. My mistake for listening to my professor.
This is why we download.

Work experience
Building a portfolio of written work, especially any that you've had published, will help to evidence your writing skill and establish your reputation as a writer.
You can practice your craft by writing for your student newspaper or magazine, volunteering in schools, or getting involved with writers' groups. Also, try submitting work to journals or anthologies, entering competitions, or approaching local drama groups to see if they will use your scripts.
To make yourself more employable, look for opportunities to gain some solid work experience. This could be in the form of paid administrative work for a company or volunteering, perhaps with a local charity helping them to promote the work they do.
You could also write speculatively to a number of businesses, including publishing houses and marketing firms, to ask if you could complete some short-term work experience or shadowing. This can have the advantage of getting you a foot in the door in a highly-competitive industry and could lead to a permanent position.

Pros and Cons of Self Publishing
Recently I got a great question in my Ask from someone who wondered whether they should self publish their novel or not. Here’s my response.
Self publishing can be really satisfying for some writers. But whether it’s right for you or not depends what your goals are.
Here’s a rough list of the pros and cons of self publishing, in my opinion:
Pros:
You can get your book out into the world without waiting for it to be traditionally published.
Self publishing can give you a sense of completion for a project that can feel really nice.
Self publishing gives your friends, family, and probably at least a few random readers a chance to read your work.
You maintain total control over your work. You get to decide what to write, how to edit it, what cover design you want. If you decide to take your book out of print, make a second edition, or release a sequel, that’s also up to you.
Cons:
If you self publish your novel, it will often (but not always) prevent you from traditionally publishing it in the future, if you want to do that.
It’s rare (but not impossible) for a self published book to sell very many copies.
If you don’t have an established fan base, you might not sell many copies to people who aren’t your family or friends.
If you want to sell to more than your friends, family, and established fan base (if you have one), you’ll need to do a lot of marketing, which can be time consuming and sometimes expensive.
In summary, I’d say if you think that self publishing your book will feel good and give you a sense of completion about your project, you aren’t worried about trying to traditionally publish it in the future, and you won’t be bummed if it doesn’t sell very many copies, go for it! I know lots of writers who have self published from this mindset, and they were really happy they did.
But if you’re totally attached to your book being a wild bestseller and don’t already have an established audience, self publishing might let you down.
Really it’s up to you, but definitely take time to clarify for yourself what you hope to achieve by self publishing and whether that goal is within the normally expected range of possibility before you embark. You’re more likely to achieve your goals and meet your expectations if you spend time clarifying your goals and researching your expectations first :)

uhhh im excited to move to l******** aka a town kinda/city that isnt like the small town ive been living in for the past 18 (almost 19) years and while ill miss the 1 friend i have in this town, and the anxiety i have about being lonely there, it doesn’t matter because its exciting because no-one will know me or remember me because its a big town and if i do embarassing stuff chances are theyll forget in a day
also my uni wants to make ppl pay £55 to go to the freshers fair fuck that lmfao i will just be mates w my flat mates and even then if im not oh well bc i wont be out £55!!! lmao fuck my uni for that but both of my brothers didnt bother when they went to their unis but its chill it’s only 3 years and saying it feels like a long time but it’s not itll pass by in a flash and it’s wild because this exact day (22/07/2018) 3 years later (22/07/2021) i will be 21 almost 22 wow queen of aging, thats me! i think im still gonna keep this as a diary blog as long as no-one finds it itll be chill if they do lmao i’ll just have to kill myself and thats not a joke shishtor! anyways hopefully i’ll be happy in there but the street where my uni is does look a bit like a shit hole but at the same time its like its a big city who cares theres security like im safe and its like a 15 minute walk to uni so its basically like a walk to my high school. college used to be a 10 minute walk, actually 12 minute lets be real bc i like to walk slow but i walk back fast bc i wanna go home and nap bitch! god it’s weird like Enya is 19 and shes going on tour with her best friend to be a comedy legend and i’m going to uni like i knew i wasnt gonna be famous or nothing and idk what im gonna do if i finish my course, i hope i do manage to stick through it but ill accept it if i cant. plus its not like i wouldnt be able to go back or to another uni in the future but like damn. also last thing i wanna write a series of letters to myself one at the end of my 1st/2nd/3rd year and one if i quit etc but i feel like im scared to, plus i have the letter i wrote to myself in like year 9 or something to open in 2030 if i lose that ill kms
