I’m had to try so hard not to cry while reading this, he has gone through so much

After having watched Young Royals for the third time (yep, I’m that deep into it) the last episode and the last scene in particular still shatter my heart into pieces… This kid, who’d been struggling with his prince position even before the season started has gone through so much shit over just few months and lost absolutely every significant person in his life…

Like, first he loses his brother who is like his only real friend and support which is a devastating loss on its own but it also makes him a crown prince and multiplies the already unbearable pressure… And then he loses his new friend and first lover who became the only person he can talk to and be himself… And then he finds out the pervious one is thanks to his cousin, his own family, who claimed to be a brother to him, to take care of him but still betrays him with no explanation… And as if all of this isn’t enough for anyone to break down, he finds out his own mother had known about the betrayal and not only told him nothing but didn’t even do anything about it - she knew who was responsible for her son’s suffering and just… did nothing.

And now… he has to deal with all the pressure and all the pain of his losses and betrayals… completely on his own. With no support whatsoever. And he’s still so young.

When he leaves school at the end of the season he looks calm. Which can’t be a good sign for someone who’s gone through so much. It’s the kind of calm that settles on a person who has been in an unbearable position and finally figured out a way out. And this way is usually not a good one.

the most #UselessLesbian thing i have ever done was when i was trying to figure out if this girl liked me or not, just constantly arguing with myself about it, and after a couple, uh, months, of this, i was like, “god i wish i could just like… go to court and lay out all this evidence and have a couple lawyers argue over the TRUE MEANING of her text messages, and then a judge tells me if she likes me or not.” and then the proverbial lightbulb went off over my proverbial head, and i dug into my mock trial folder from high school and found the trial guidelines and i wrote out an entire trial transcript featuring a plaintiff (me), my attorney (my wildest hopes and dreams), a defense attorney (my worst fears and insecurities), and a judge (my desperate attempt at rationality). the final product was several thousand words long. it clarified nothing. at any point in this process did it occur to me to ask her how she felt about me? absolutely not. did i ever stop and think, “hey, maybe i should tell her that i like her?” absolutely not. that’s for people who take risks and i don’t take risks i take myself to court in my own head.
