These are just a few warning labels corporations like hot topic have attached to the body jewelry products listed on their website. People still buy this stuff and some people initially pierce with the same quality. Research your piercer, ask questions, be conscious of what you wear in your body.

There are plenty of established piercing studios with knowledgable piercers that can help you pick out a piece that’s perfect for you. They can fit it and install it for you, but most of all you can leave with the assurance that you’re wearing a piece of jewelry that is completely safe to wear for the rest of your life and a piece that will always look as great as the day you got it.

My right ear, fresh cartilage piercing. First hole is stretched to 14g. I'm really happy with this picture because you can see a tiny bit of light through my baby tunnels. Goal size is 00g, but stretching slowly with happy healthy lobes in mind :)

Hey! I just stretched my ear from a 2g to a 0g using a silicone taper. I thought it was ok to use but I just came across an ear stretching blog on here saying tapers are only meant for stretching up until 2g. My lobe is swollen, did I blow out my ear

Silicone is scary to stretch with because it can fuse to your skin. I've never heard of a silicone taper so that sounds twice as scary.The jump from 2-0 can be hard because it is a 2mm jump. It is for that reason that we suggest going to a 1g in between and using a method such as taping or natural stretching.

So I’m an admin in a group on Facebook called Your Ear Stretching Connection. I’m the grumpy looking one. Usually we have a member of the week as our cover photo, but this week we had an admin Christmas one.

As the name suggests, the group is primarily about ear stretching, but we welcome discussion and photos of all sorts of body modifications!

We try our best to encourage people to stretch safely and educate people about common ear stretching issues such as the hazards of acrylic jewellery and stretching too fast. Come check us out! We’re a nice bunch.
