❛ why yes, it was because of an emergency matter ❜. he then laughed at the younger girl’s last comment, which seemed that he was taking this matter way too lightly. truth be told, he was a bit worried about his teammate since he has heard very… unpleasant rumors surrounding jabberwock back when he was living in america. ah, the memories. ❛ don’t fret erika, i’m sure atsushi will come back as soon as he finishes and coach won’t say a word about it ❜.
Tumblr media
❝ ohh? so secretive, would you care to elaborate more? ❞ her brows scrunched together in thought. ❝ isn’t it going to take more than a few days? i mean... ❞ well, even if erika knew the basics, it wasn’t hard to deduce that murasakibara would be gone for a while. masako was definitely going to know by the time murasakibara didn’t turn up for practice, or by the time his face was plastered on television. whichever came first. ❝ fret? i’m definitely not worried. i’m just, uh, curious about sushi-kun. and would rather not have a shinai being thrown at me by the end of the week. maybe you athlete senpais can handle that, i can’t. unless this is like, some basketball team tradition you guys do. ❞

❛ oh, you’re talking to me ❜. the sentence came out as a matter of factly, since the blonde was kiiinda ignoring her until his train of thought was interrupted. ❛ hmm ❜ he balanced the weapon that was currently in one of his hands. now that she mentioned it, his lance wasn’t that heavy? if you ask him, claymores seem to be more tricky. ❛ wanna try it and see for youself? i am no trainer whatsoever, haha ❜.
Tumblr media
❝ you’re the only -- nevermind. ❞ can’t be irritated when you’re asking someone for a favor, after all. she narrowed her eyes as she inspected the weapon at a distance. it was taller than her, and she would say that she was of average height. would it even be possible? ❝ well, since you’re offering, i might as well. i thought this resistance business made most vision users trainers. ❞ she put both her hands out expectantly as she spoke. ❝ or you seemed to know your way around that weapon. either way, you’re not new like me -- is what i would assume, but as i am new, i wouldn’t know that for sure. ❞ if this person had a talent for fighting innately, then that would explain that.

operation: gather intel on shuutoku. mission start? now.
❝ oh!!! it’s midorima-kun, isn’t it? ❞ with summoned enthusiasm does the manager of yosen wave at shuutoku’s shooting guard as if they were long-time friends (they were not). only clad in her school uniform’s, she made sure to hide any indicators she went to yosen. after all, surely midorima did not know what the female uniforms looked like... probably. ❝ i’m a huge fan, super big on your piano playing! i think we’ve competed at a few piano competitions, right? ❞
well, she’s never beat him or akashi. but that doesn’t matter for this facade.

❝ how... how heavy is that polearm? are you a trainer? ❞ she has zero interest in undertaking any type of extraneous physical labor, but perhaps that zero would have to be waned, if she wanted to keep her vision at the rate the hunt was going. no matter how weak someone was, if they wanted to keep something... they couldn’t just complain, now could they?

Hand is raised to her forehead, as if attempting to narrow the scope of her vision, craning her head to look up at the taller teen. Perhaps she had her initial misconceptions when coming to Japan after all, she’d never seen anyone as tall as Murasakibara. ❝ Could you, perhaps, be a real life Wonder Woman? ❞ Were Amazonians from Themyscira real after all? Of course, Erika is aware of what is fantasy and what is real, thus the comparison is meant to be a jest despite not knowing who this person exactly is.
Well, kinda. Naturally Erika had done her research and looked into all accredited basketball teams, both men and women alike, so she “knew”. Though that is cast to the side for now in favor of her awe.

❝ Siiiiiigh. Yosen’s school schedule is exactly like America’s? What’s the point of coming to Japan then? ❞ Though to say she actually laments this fact is false. The familiarity is welcomed, not requiring any major adjustments, though she had been excited to see how school culture in a different country would be different. Nonetheless, the research she had done beforehand had been for naught. She’d been entirely prepared to revel in not having to rotate classes, because she had heard Japanese high schools had fixed classrooms...
And yet. Here she was. Being forced to carry class materials from class to class. Using lockers like a plebian. The funny thing is Yosen did keep some of Japan’s usual traditions... like indoor shoes or cleaning the school after classes let out.
All of them inconsequential.
As one may guess, she hates the carrying part the most.

“E-eh?!” She’s crying now?! But – isn’t it a normal reaction to dodge a flying projectile? “But – h-how was I supposed to know? You threw it at – but I didn’t mean – I’m sorry!” Why is he the one apologizing when all he’d done was step out of the way to protect himself? This entire interaction is a tragedy. “Um, uh – do you want a hug?”
Tumblr media
❝ I even stayed up all night to bake it... ❞ She pulls her scarf upward, her sniffles increasing in volume as her eyes begin to fill up with tears. ❝ Kazunari-kun, you’re so mean. Not even a hug can make up for my wasted effort. I thought you would be happy with pie, but I guess not... ❞

Ah, it had been some time since the last time Kuroko had startled someone to this degree; his lack of presence hadn’t really been much of a problem during practice in recent times. ❝I apologize for startling you, I didn’t mean to.❞ The boy stopped to let the other person release those sneezes and her thoughts, feeling slightly guilty that she appeared to be suffering to this degree from the stray animal fur held on his clothes. His mother was a sufferer of spring allergies, Kuroko noting the splotchy nose and watery eyes that was indicative of overactive nerve receptors. ❝Mm, most of the fur is on my jacket I believe, I could put it in my bag if it will help relieve some of your symptoms. I’m very sorry again, um, I have some water in my bag if that would help?❞ His shirt was relatively fur free, although you couldn’t be too careful when it came to allergies, he supposed.
Tumblr media
The boy didn’t comment on the female moving over a seat for that reason though, glancing over when she spoke again, attention taken away from the Kaijo vs Shuutoku match. ❝Ah, yes. I love all animals, honestly speaking. They all have charm in their own way, it wouldn’t be fair to just pick one based upon differing traits. As for who I’m rooting for, mm, I suppose both would be fair? There’s people I’m familiar with on both teams after all. And yourself?❞
❝ Haha, that’d be really kind of you to do so. Sorry about the inconvenience. ❞ Though any genuine meaning behind the apology would be lost immediately; she certainly was the type of person to say only what was convenient at the time. Currently, because she was being given amiability, it was advantageous to give the same. ❝ Water would be nice. Thank you. ❞ The youth rubbed her nose and held her hand out- despite the increased distance, she should be able to catch it if it was tossed to her gently.
Tumblr media
❝ Oh? To me, that’s a bit unfair to both sides, but I guess you must be an unbiased person. ❞ Well, as for her own presence at the game, it was professional. Her coach had instructed her to observe more games, and thus the trip to Tokyo had been made. Competitions that centered mostly around the schools in the area were underway, so it was quite convenient for her. ❝ I’m not rooting for anyone. I just like basketball and the teams intrigue me, especially those with these Miracles. Have you heard of them? ❞

“…Whatever.” Mayuzumi’s well versed enough in sarcasm to recognize it when he hears it. On the off chance she does somehow have a gun, putting him out of his misery wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. “You want my money?” He pulls a 1000 yen bill out of his wallet and tosses it at her. “Buy yourself dessert or something. Now leave me alone and let me read.”
Tumblr media
❝ Are you rich enough to not care about who gets your money or do you truly hate being in someone’s spotlight? ❞ But is she going to take that yen? Yes, she is. She’s not going to leave him alone though- making people miserable is an enjoyable side hobby, especially if all she has to do is breathe in his space. First though, she’ll go buy herself a crepe with that money- might as well, right? But she’ll be back very shortly.

❝ Can’t really compare Japan to the center of junk food in the world. Though it’s good junk food, as unfortunate as it may be for blood cholesterol. ❞ Much to her own chagrin, however, she can’t indulge in fast food as often as this man seemed to take in. Metabolism worked differently for her, so she was careful with her diet. There were times when she allowed herself to cheat, such as now, as she slipped a french fry into her milkshake during the other’s notice of her words. Carefully chosen, in order to draw his attention... she refrained from grinning at her success.
❝ Foreigner. I’m on a study abroad program. Since you say ‘too’, may I assume that you’re also American? Perhaps a half? I admit that Japanese can be a bit of a challenge, so if you speak English, that’d be quite convenient for me. ❞ If directing the conversation was going to be as smooth as it was starting out to be, she was confident in her data gathering from him as well.
Kagami was definitely going by her uniform at first–not that he exactly went around and memorized whose attire belonged to which school since that really wasn’t something he thought about, but he knew for sure he didn’t see a girls uniform like that around here.
Tumblr media
“Damn straight, fast food’s not really the same here as it is over in America, it’s like Japanese people don’t like to eat or somethin’.” Kagami paused mid-chew, before her words truly dawned on him. He quickly swallowed down his food. “Wait a sec– America? You’re a returnee, too? Or… no, a foreigner, maybe?” he asked, focusing a little better on her now that she genuinely had his attention. Truthfully, she didn’t look fully Japanese, and the way she spoke was a little rough as well. Maybe he could switch to English? It felt like it’d been forever since he got to speak it.

❝ ... That’s weird. Never met anyone who could be more lethargic than Sushi-senpai. ❞ And here she thought she had seen it all. ❝ There should be more ways to be able to keep you awake, I’m sure. I should think on that... ❞ After all, what better accomplishment could there be than helping a hopeless case become hopeful again? ❝ I’m Erika. The introduction is a bit late, but you were asleep earlier. How about you? ❞
Tumblr media
“No, I still feel sleepy, just… sleepy and jittery?” Arguing with her about something that’s not baseball related is such a pain, though; Furuya feels himself growing sleepier with every passing moment. And that scarf looks so soft… The pitcher blinks, trying to shake off the thought so he doesn’t doze off on her and reprimand him again. “If we keep talking about sleep, I’ll fall asleep,” he admits in a mutter. “Also, um. Who are you?” It’s not a very polite way of asking, but the curious sentiment is the same nonetheless.

❝ No, it’s not. I’m just a random passerby who saw the basketball being thrown towards you and wanted to take it. ❞ She shifts her gaze to the ball he had dropped, wondering what exactly went through his mind when he did so. Don’t people normally pick up the ball and give it back to whoever lost it? This could be a good social experiment. Erika holds her hands out, expecting for the other to pick it up and give it to her. ❝ You okay? I didn’t mean for it to go so far. ❞
Tumblr media
“ !!! ” barely registers as a response, having seen the ball through peripherals and turning to catch it, though he is slow and STAGGERS from the force of what would have otherwise hit him square in the chest. he may have stopped it, but the ball’s impact stings and he drops the ball for a moment to shake the pain of his hands away, only to notice the culprit drifting his way:  “ hey, is this your BALL ? ”

She pauses, before slowly pulling herself up onto his back. It’s not difficult given that their height difference isn’t significant, but now she’s beginning to rethink her joke. ❝ ... how strong are you, really? ❞ Is she making a mistake right now? Athletes shouldn’t be weak, right? ❝ Though I’d take that ‘something’ to court, not you, of course. ❞ A pause. ❝ Or I could sue your legs for being unable to walk correctly. ❞ Not like she has the resources and time to actually do that, but she may as well indulge the other’s jesting. ❝ If I’m accidentally strangling you, just tap out. ❞
Tumblr media
“That’s fair, I wouldn’t wanna be like Midorima either!” Way to defend your best friend. Really, though – Takao will stick with being himself, thank you very much. Midorima’s a great guy, but too stoic. Even if he wound up in another silly situation with his offer, life’s more fun when you do ridiculous things. “Nah, just saying it can be good to be openminded! People can surprise you.” The point guard grins, and bends down slightly to allow her to climb on his back. He’s going to look like an idiot walking through the streets like that, but at least it’s him and most people aren’t even going to be that surprise. At the most they’ll just assume he lost (another) bet. “You better not take me to court if I run into something and injure both of us.”

Erika lightly snorted at that. ❝ Tiny compared to everyone else on this team, yeah, but I’m on the same level as her. She’s scary with that shinai of hers- I’m sure she can manage a place other than your head. ❞ The coach was a woman she never wanted to get on the bad side of, that was for sure. She even heard rumors that Masako had been part of a gang before... whether or not that was true? Erika didn’t really want to be the one to ask.
Tumblr media
❝ Ah, I see. It would be bad if he got injured, right? Since he wouldn’t be able to use the opportunity you graciously gave to him. ❞ She glanced at the other from her peripheral vision, finding amusement in the other’s words. Well, she didn’t really have a stance on the thin line of tolerance between those that were ‘average’ and the ‘prodigies’. Masako could deal with things if they went too far. ❝ Hm~? Well, let’s just say she left half of them for me to hide. I was told that I shouldn’t let you eat until you at least finish up the last five minutes of the practice match. ❞ Masako’s prediction of the future was frighteningly accurate, wasn’t it? ❝ Though how about this? If you hold out, I can take you to the new sweets shop that opened a few blocks away. It’ll be on me. ❞ There were many ways to motivate lethargic people, so Erika wondered which one he would go for.
🍬 ❝ Nnh, she’s tiny, she can’t reach my head~ ❞  he whined, smiling softly as Erika pat his head. Masako coach might be small, but she really hits them hard if she needs to, she’s a strong woman, and Murasakibara liked that about her, after all, she had to deal with boys that were several cm taller than her. He looked at the older player he had shoved, and scowled in disgust. Atsushi was not found of weaker players, especially if they were older than him, thus apologising was definitely not on his list of things to do today. ❝ He’s okay ~, besides, I just gave him the opportunity to play, which he doesn’t get very often… ❞
Tumblr media
🍬 Murasakibara sounded every bit as obnoxious as he was to average players, he didn’t have any sympathy for them. ❝I’m always safe, Eri-chin. ❞ the purple haired teen stated, pouting as he felt himself growing hungry. ❝Ne, I’m hungry, have you seen my food? I think Masa-chin hid it from me~ ❞ Atsushi sighed, regretting the day he ever decided to come to Yosen. Why did they have to hide his food from him? That was just cruel.
