Chapter Eleven: Elders' gathering
"Looney, surely you must be kidding about this."
The four elders stood in Looney's house, discussing the matter of the Undeadification.
"I am not," the owl told the elephant. "Yootopia is in danger, and the little ones are our only hope in saving it."
"But the Monsters... Aren't they too strong for them?" the giraffe questioned.
"I am sure we have made the right choice," Looney said. "With Orca's guidance, they will be able to halt the disaster."
"You mean...!"
"Yes, it's time I told all."
"How? You know she could be dangerous!" Lenney the lynx cut in. "You don't even understand what you're getting yourself into!"
"Yes, I know fully well what the risks are. She will not pose any threat to Yootopia."
"I fear Yootopia is not the only place the Undeadification has endangered," the giraffe said. "If things continue to progress as they have, all of Greenet will be doomed."
"I just hope Libby will be okay..."
The group stood just outside, listening in on the conversation.
"Hey, Orca, you want a cupcake?" Chewoo asked, putting the snack in front of her.
"No thanks."
"C'mon, Orca, it'll taste good, I promise..."
"I said no thanks," she pressed, pushing the squirrel's hand away.
"Orca—"
"Hey, I said NO—"
"So, I heard the rumors! Is this true?"
Everyone startled as the macaw appeared from out of nowhere, Chewoo fumbling the cupcake and catching it at the very last moment.
"Oh, thank goodness, it's just you, Lora..." Roodee sighed.
"I could've dropped my cupcake I was gonna give Orca!" Chewoo slightly fumed.
"How many times am I going to have to tell you I don't need it?" the half-Monster hissed.
"Oh yeah, this is the talk of the entire island!" Lora chirped. "Creatures we've never seen before! Powers within the Death Forest! Isn't this all just exciting?!"
"Uh, Lora, now's seriously not the time to interrupt a meeting," Lemmee told her, trying to be as polite as possible. "Please?"
"Oh. Okay."
Her eyes trailed to the lizard next to Chewoo.
"Who's she?"
"Oh, this is Orca! She's a half-Monster who's helping us collect Souls to put in the Soul Pots around the world," YooHoo told her. "One of those is in the Death Forest, but we're saving that for last, so we're starting off with the forest—"
"Hold up, hold up, Souls? Soul Pots? Plural? Ohhh, Slo's definitely going to love this..."
"Speaking of," Pammee piped in, "could he know where the forest's Soul Pot is?"
"Maybe." The macaw shrugged.
"Yeah! And we'll be one step closer to stopping Big Boss man!" the Minotaur chimed, using his opportunity to contribute to the conversation.
Nobody spoke as Lora looked at everyone, one at a time.
"What's his reason for being here?"
"We'll explain later," Roodee said. "Now lead the way to Slo."
As they headed off, unbeknownst to them, someone was watching their every move.
All they needed to do was blend in.

Chapter Ten: A conversation with Looney
Looney was straightening the books on the shelves as he looked for more on the Undeadification and the Monsters.
When he'd taken care of Orca after their first encounter with Oops and Koops, he'd read her stories about the Fountain of Youth and the other mystical sights of the island.
He'd taken care of her for all those years, and when she was old enough, she could pass on the wisdom he'd impart on her to future generations to come.
Oh, how the little ones grew up so—
"Hey, Grandfather Looney! Check it out! We got a Monster!"
The owl's eyes widened as YooHoo and the others came in, Roodee leading the Minotaur inside.
"Why, I'll say..."
"Yeah, I know! He was really aggressive at first, but then Pammee got the idea to weaken him, and now he's our friend! Pretty neat, huh?" Chewoo chattered.
Looney nodded.
"You know what's weird, though? Orca. We came across these Oops and Koops guys and it's like she knows these guys and doesn't like them, like, at all, because then she got really big and huge like the Monster we met and—"
"Hey, where is she, anyway?" Lemmee asked. "We haven't seen her since then."
"You're right!" Roodee piped in, fidgeting with his glasses slightly. "Is she okay?"
He gasped, realizing how long she'd actually been gone for. "Wh-what if she's—?!"
"Grandfather Looney?"
Everyone, except for the Minotaur, who was fiddling with some of the books on one of the shelves, turned to see Orca standing in the doorway.
"YOU'RE ALIVE!" Roodee shrieked.
"Took awhile, but I dealt with them again."
She smiled. "Sorry for the wait."
She wasn't going to mention that she'd actually been captured and had to escape in order to get back.
"Thank goodness. I was afraid we would have to repeat our first encounter," Looney sighed.
"Wait, you know about Oops and Koops?" YooHoo asked.
"Yes, little one. She was younger than you when I took her in. She was in a dire position, with them to blame. She was also the first to enlighten me on the existence of Monsters."
"So, what you're saying is that she's the first Monster you knew of?" Pammee asked, tilting her head.
"More than that, little one," he said. "Orca has the heart of both an animal and Monster inside of her."
"So she's half Monster? Is that what you're saying?" Roodee questioned.
"That's right," she told him.
"Wow... I wonder what that would be like," Lemmee pondered.
"Wait, weren't we also gonna talk about who's taking the potion?" Chewoo asked.
"Yeah, Roodee took a long time to study it," YooHoo said. "Is Lemmee going to try it out?"
"I'd rather have YooHoo take it," the lemur replied. "I wouldn't want to be a big oaf."
"Hey! Who you calling a big oaf?!" the Minotaur shot back, turning to face the group.
Roodee stayed silent as they continued to talk amongst themselves.
Would he want to just come clean like this?
He didn't want to do this.
But he couldn't just keep it a secret.
He closed his eyes, knowing what he had to do.
He called forth the Monster within.
He grimaced as he grew, knowing he couldn't fight it.
Everyone stared in awe as the capuchin completed his transformation.
"I did it," he told them, in a considerably deeper voice than he was used to. "I didn't mean to. I just got startled and some of it got into my mouth. I didn't tell you because I thought you wouldn't understand."
"So..." Orca inspected him. "This doesn't make any sense."
"What doesn't make any sense?" he asked.
"Normally, it would be more...complete. You're supposed to be something completely different when you take it."
"So he's not a perfect Monster?" Chewoo asked.
"This isn't going to be good. If they have any more Monsters at their disposal, you're going to be their priority after me," she told him.
"That is true," Looney said. "You must make sure they won't become more of a problem than they already are."
"Don't worry, Grandfather Looney!" YooHoo reassured him. "We'll take care of this whole situation and we'll stop the Undeadification!"
"Yeah! And we'll stop Big Boss man and save my friends!" the Minotaur chimed in.
That came kind of out of nowhere.
"Yeah, we'll do that, too!" YooHoo said.
Looney chuckled. "Yes, I believe that will be of great importance."

Chapter Nine: Making it happen
Everyone fell silent as they registered what they had just done.
"Did... Did we do it?" Lemmee was the first to say something.
"We did," YooHoo answered.
Everyone began celebrating.
"We did it! We fought the Undead and our first Monster!"
A sound cut the joyous occasion short.
They turned to see the Minotaur pushing itself into a sitting position, rubbing its head as its consciousness returned.
"Wha' happ'n...?" the Monster moaned. "Where am I? What am I doing?"
That caught everyone off-guard.
Monsters weren't supposed to talk!
But Looney had told them the Monsters were animals transformed by the Undeadification so long ago...
"Are you okay?" Pammee asked.
The bull Monster's eyes focused on her, leading the fennec to notice its eyes didn't have that menacing glow to them anymore, making them a dull ruby hue.
"Mister Minotaur... If you really are a mister, I'm really sorry we had to fight like that. Do you know what we're trying to do?" Roodee asked. "We have a Soul, too. We got it from one of the Undead that was with you. Do you know what it does?"
"Soul?" The Monster tilted his head. "Why would you need one?"
Tumblr media
"Well, you see, Mister Minotaur," YooHoo said, "we need it to stop the Undeadification. Apparently somebody started it too early, and now we're trying to survive this and get to whoever's responsible."
"Uhhh..." The creature drew a blank. "Uhhh. I dunno."
"We could probably talk to someone about this," Pammee told the bushbaby.
"We are. We're going to Grandfather Looney's, and we're taking this guy with us," Lemmee cut in.
Roodee couldn't help but relate to this stranger they had just met in some way.
He didn't know what this feeling was, but...
Was it that even a Monster couldn't understand what was currently happening?
Koops took in a breath as he watched from a device in the Boss's office.
He hadn't come in yet, but they were already dreading the conversation they had to have.
They'd captured the forest-dweller, and they wanted to discuss what they'd do with her, but that would have to wait for a few days now.
The Minotaur, the Monster they were sure would get rid of any interference to their plan, had instead been turned against them.
"Well? Do you have any good news?"
Speak of the devil.
"Oh, Boss... Um, so, we met some people who tried to tarnish your name, so we sicced the Minotaur on them, but then we got chased by the shifter you wanted gone, but don't worry, don't worry, we captured her."
"Good, good. As for the Minotaur?"
"Uh..." He looked at Oops for some semblance of reassurance before we had to break it to the Boss, turning the screen of the device to face him. "I think it's best if you—"
"I work with absolute MORONS!" the Boss roared, throwing a fork, knife, lance, axe, and mace into the wall where the gators stood in that particular order.
"B-Boss! You don't need to get mad at us, we still have her in our little office, I'm sure..."
Unbeknownst to them, while they had gotten caught up in their predicament, they wouldn't notice Orca listening in on them.
Okay, so this is supposed to be their boss... And they're going to go where I was so they can show me to him... Duly noted.
Now she had to come up with a strategy.
"Koops, you're such a dummy! We told one of our Undead servants to get her from the office before we left!"
...Huh. That might work.
She quickly went back to the office, where an Amoeba Zombie was currently standing near the suitcase she had been in.
"Hey, you. I need you to get me out of here. I'll get in the suitcase, and walk out of the castle. As soon as you do, let me out, okay?"
It nodded, and so the plan commenced.
It went off without a hitch.
She sighed as she finally got her first breath of fresh air after a while of being stuck in a building that gave her the creeps.
Of course, the only problem now was that they'd have to notice sooner or later that she was gone.
Better to have a scapegoat than be caught again.
She pushed the Amoeba Zombie into the suitcase and locked it in.
Escape plan, part two was about to commence.
Transforming between one form and the other to get leverage on a quicker travel, she was off to reunite with the others.

Chapter Eight: Subdued and captured
"MOVE, MOVE, MOVE! NOW!"
The gators skidded across the forest, the Nega-Dragon not far behind.
"WHY IS SHE SO FAST?!"
They were cornered.
"Hey, hey, hey, don't kill us, we'll leave you alone, okay?!" Koops stammered.
"Yeah! We'll do anything!" Oops blubbered. "Please, I want to live!"
"Anything...?" she growled. "Hmm."
She looked them dead in the eyes.
"Either tell me where the Soul Pots are, or tell me everything you know about the Big Boss, and I'll consider letting you go."
"What?! No way! All we know for sure about either is that the Soul Pot we activated is in the Death Forest, and the Boss wants us to get him the water from the Fountain of Youth!" Koops snapped.
"Don't lie to me."
She grabbed the two and pinned them both to the ground with one hand, eyes burning with rage.
"I'm not going to ask you again," she snarled. "Tell me about the Soul Pots or the Big Boss. Remember. The. Deal."
"W-we're serious! That's all we know!" Oops babbled. "I don't know what you're trying to get a—"
"TELL ME!"
She was holding back her strength this whole time, and this was enough to reach her limit.
Before the gators knew it, the Monster was suddenly four times its previous size, and they were almost being choked out.
"This is going to the last time I'll ever ask you before I've fully made up my mind," she warned them. "Tell me. Give me answers."
The gators only quaked in their boots in her grasp.
She could feel the fire rumbling in her throat, wanting to get out and burn them both up—
It was like everything was drained from her.
Damn it.
She collapsed.
Damn it, not again...
The last thing she saw as her consciousness faded was the duo's eyes lighting up as they saw her shrink down back to a more vulnerable state.
The Boss was so going to be proud of them.
They'd expected to see a Monster today.
However, they didn't expect their new companion turning into one right in front of them.
They also didn't expect her having a history with the two strangers they'd just met.
The Minotaur roared again.
Oh, right. They almost forgot that it was gunning for them.
They all bolted, pushing themselves free from the Undead and running in circles like headless chickens as the Monster chased them, smashing the trees around it to see its food.
Pammee was starting to tire out from all this.
"Pammee! Grab my hand!" Chewoo shouted.
The fennec reached out for it...
Right as the Minotaur grabbed her.
She screamed as soon as its fingers wrapped around her body.
Now, if you knew Pammee, whenever she was scared or in danger, the first thing she did was scream.
And it was loud.
It was loud enough to make the Monster bellow in pain and cover its ears, dropping her as it hunched over to do so.
Roodee suddenly had an idea.
"Guys! Start shooting at it while it's vulnerable!"
Everyone drew out their weapons and began their assault.
Something strange happened as they did so, however.
The Undead seemed to sense the Minotaur's distress, so they threw themselves in front of it.
The group was shocked as they all witnessed one of the Undead dissipating into...
"That's a Soul!" Lemmee gasped.
The Monster knew it couldn't win this if it didn't do anything.
It staggered to its feet as it tried to reach for the Soul, but Chewoo decided on a failsafe strategy in case this was to happen.
She sprinted towards its face, throwing the Soul to the others as she did.
As soon as she was close enough, she raised an arm, aiming right at the spot.
"Chewoo Chop!"
The side of her hand landed on the middle of the Minotaur's head.
With one last roar of pain, it fell to the ground, finally down for the count.
Opening her eyes, she knew something wasn't good.
It was dark.
Really dark.
And tight.
She tried to get out of whatever prison this was supposed to be, struggling to make even a single dent in the space.
Bad idea.
She felt herself falling, and slammed into the ground, her means of capture popping open, finally letting her see where she was.
Looking around, she took note that she was in an office of some sort.
And she'd been in a suitcase this entire time.
Sighing, she tried looking for more hints as to what this place's nature was.
Wait.
The suitcase.
Her heart dropped as she realized what was going on.
Those meddlesome gators had taken her to their domain.
The only thing she could do now...
Was escape.

Chapter Seven: Monster!
Roodee had been hard at work on his latest inventions.
He'd called everyone over once he'd finished them all, and this was sure to be the most efficient way to deal with the Undead.
"Whoa, I've never seen anything like this before," the bushbaby said as he handled the weapon.
"I'm not really sure what this thing is supposed to be, either, but I heard something in passing during our time on Earth about something called a 'gun'," the capuchin told him.
"Earth...?" The word sounded alien to her.
"Oh, we went through some other things before we met you, Orca," Pammee told her.
"Smells like dust," Chewoo mused, holding another weapon.
Lemmee sighed, not in exasperation, but admiration for his friend, even if he didn't want to admit it. "Oh, Chewoo... Never change."
"Would you want one, Orca?" YooHoo asked, offering her a crossbow.
"I'm good. I prefer fighting with more conventional means."
"O...okay..." That was a weird answer. "Hey, Roodee. Anything in that encyclopedia of yours that talks about the Soul Pots?"
"No, not really."
"So we really are gonna be going into this search for the Soul Pots blindly, and all we know for sure is that one of them is in the Death Forest," Lemmee said. "Unfortunately, I shouldn't complain since I assumed that from the start."
"How many of them should be there, anyway?" Chewoo asked.
"Not counting the Death Forest, probablyyy... about seven," Roodee guessed.
"Let's just get the closest one done first. Since we're close to the forest...not to be confused with the Death Forest, just so you know...let's get to its Soul Pot. Just to be safe," Pammee said.
Her friends nodded, and so they were off.
"Hoo boy... This is a game of concentration here," Lemmee huffed.
They were traveling through the trees, jumping from branch to branch in search of the Soul Pot from above.
"Hey, that tree looks a bit odd. It's like there's some sort of webbing on that branch." Roodee pointed at the tree in question.
Orca froze in place at the sight.
There was a bad feeling gnawing at her gut, and she knew they had to have done something with it.
"Let's take this one instead," she said, pointing at a different tree.
Nobody understood the sudden change of pace, but they all complied and took the jump.
Little did they know that this tree was also rigged by a trap.
Before they knew it, they were all hanging upside-down in a net, looking into the eyes of a pair of gators.
"Well, well, if it isn't the little twerp we tried to get rid of to sell her little forest for profit," the tall gator smirked.
"Too bad you two haven't learned to back off," she retorted.
"You let her run off with that dumb owl after you hit her, you know," the shorter one scolded him.
"It's your fault you didn't tell me to go after him!"
"How's it my fault?! I was telling you to, but you decided to waste your time telling me to shut up!"
As the group watched the gators bicker, YooHoo tapped Orca's shoulder.
"You know these two?"
They cut their argument short as they sharply turned their heads to see the other company they had.
"Why, who are these little potential customers for our wares?" asked the short one.
"I'm...sorry, what?" Lemmee deadpanned.
"Allow us to introduce ourselves!" the tall one said, striking a pose. "I'm Oops!"
"And I'm Koops!" the short one added, posing as well.
"And we serve the Big Boss in the search for the most valuable thing on this island: the Fountain of Youth!" they said together, choreographing an interjoined stance.
The air fell silent as they waited for a response.
Pammee cleared her throat.
"We shouldn't have done this," Koops muttered.
His brother nodded in agreement.
"'Most valuable thing on this island'? The Fountain of Youth?" Chewoo asked.
"Yeah, for money," Oops said.
"Sorry, but the fountain's not for sale!" Roodee cried, crossing his arms.
"Oh, really?" Koops questioned, a shady grin spreading across his face. "Who said it was, then?"
"Nobody, that's who!" Orca shouted, pointing accusingly at the two.
That was when YooHoo thought a thought. A mischievous thought. The kind of thought that would work in his favor for... let's just say toying with the gators.
"You know..." he said. "I might have an impression of you guys."
Oops raised a brow as the bushbaby cleared his throat.
What came out next was pure chaos.
"Hurr hurr, look at me, I'm an alligator, I wanna make money, so I'm gonna get the Fountain of Youth for myself!"
"Wh-what?" the gators sputtered in unison.
"YooHoo..." Orca warned.
Lemmee facepalmed.
"Oh! Oh! I wanna join!" Chewoo squealed, and chimed in. "I do this stupid little dance to advertise myself to customers with my brother, and I question everything about it!"
"Guys, stop."
"Aw, c'mon, Orca, it's fun, though! Look at them!" he said, pointing at the now-absolutely steaming duo, then resuming his plan. "My boss—"
"SHUT UP! JUST SHUT UP!" Koops roared.
"You've messed with the wrong gators! Fortunately for us—and unfortunately for you—we've got just the thing to ensure we get our bank on the fountain!" Oops shouted. "Undead, attack!"
"Huh?!"
Almost as if on command, the creatures descended upon them, ripping them out of the net and taking hold of them.
"Damn it— Let go of me!" Orca shoved an Amoeba Zombie off of her, only to be placed in a chokehold by a Bandead.
"What a shame. we only wanted your help in our cause, yet you want to drag our values through the mud," Oops tsked. "Oh, well. With the Monsters on our side, we'll have this taken care of in no time. This island is going to be ours, and nobody else will be getting in our way."
"So you did this!" Lemmee cried as he struggled to break free.
Roodee had a plan, however.
He'd brought the hammer he used for making his inventions with him, along with his new weapon of choice, what he'd coined the Soul Shooter.
He raised it, intending to bring it down on an Amoeba Zombie's head—
"Hey! He's trying to escape!" Koops shouted. "MINOTAUR, KILL THEM!"
YooHoo's eyes widened as the ground shook with what appeared to be very heavy footsteps.
And they came quickly.
A blur slammed into the forest, shaking the earth even more as it made its landing in front of its summoners.
It looked like a large bull, with large, pitch-black horns that could skewer anything and anyone that got in its way, huge fists that could easily smash even the toughest of rocks, and ring piercings on both its ears and nose.
It growled as its brightly shining, crimson eyes focused on the much-smaller animals it was up against, building to a malicious, fearsome bellow as it raised its head skyward.
The gators laughed as the Minotaur ended its display of power.
"You see that? This is what a real Monster is like!" Oops boasted.
Orca growled as she continued to struggle herself out of the Bandead's grasp.
"Hey, maybe after we get the fountain, we could probably get to finishing what we started with her," Koops told his brother.
"Ooh, that's definitely a good idea!"
That set her over the edge.
Both the gators and her captor flinched as her body suddenly began to grow, transforming into a Monster in front of their eyes.
"Of course we had to forget about that," Oops whimpered.
The newly-transformed Orca snarled at the brothers, causing them to scamper off, but she wasn't going to let them get away easily, so she went after them in hot pursuit.
The Minotaur, now alone with its allies and prey, snorted as it lumbered closer to the captive animals.
They still had no way of getting out...
And already, they were to now prepare for the fight of their life.

Chapter Six: The search for Orca
"Okay, so today's finally going to be the day we regroup with Orca!"
Everyone was gathered at Roodee's house.
To be honest, they had all been worried about the capuchin when he had failed to respond to Lemmee the day before.
They all hoped he was okay.
He opened the door, looking as if nothing had happened at all.
"You're alive!" Chewoo trumpeted, hugging him.
"Where even were you yesterday?!" The lemur could barely hold back the urge to slap him.
"Well, Lemmee, you see, I—"
He hesitated as he tried to come up with a lie the others would believe.
"I guess I just overslept..."
"For the entire day?" YooHoo asked.
He didn't say anything else on the matter.
"Right, Orca," Pammee noted. "We need to know where she is."
"We're pretty much just going in blindly at this point," Lemmee said, shrugging. "Besides, that place where that Monster attack happened didn't have her there."
"So we gotta keep looking! C'mon, guys, let's gooooo!"
The bushbaby ran off as he said that.
"Y-YOOHOO! AT LEAST WARN US BEFORE YOU RUN OFF—"
Everyone cried out warnings to the lemur to come back as he went in pursuit of his friend.
Orca was patrolling the area between the forest and rainforest biomes after that last encounter with the Undead.
She could faintly hear voices from afar, only becoming clearer as she began seeing figures from the corner of her eye.
"YooHoo, I'm serious, you can't just— AGH!"
Lemmee collided into YooHoo, which then made them tumble off the ledge at a rather insanely fast speed, leading Orca to notice them far too late as she turned to face them, right as they made impact with her.
They all screamed as they tumbled into a rather large hole in a suspicious-looking tree, jamming them firmly into it.
While YooHoo's body was almost all the way inside, both Orca and Lemmee got stuck halfway through, the latter in a more unfortunate position.
"Oh, great. We're stuck."
"Yay," YooHoo said, making sure he put enough sarcasm into that word to rub it in to the lemur's displeasure.
"Seriously? It's just the three of us cramped in here!"
"At least you and I are in more comfortable positions, Orca..."
"Yeah, and I'm the one who gets their butt stuck in here," Lemmee griped. "Trade ya!"
"No way!" she snapped. "You should've been more careful!"
"Me?! More careful?!" The lemur was incredulous. "Why, I oughtta—"
Tumblr media
"YooHoo! Lemmee! We're coming to help!"
The lemur jolted as the rest of his friends came.
"Oh, thank goodness, I'm saved!" He waved his hands to signal them of his position. "I'm right here!"
"Sweet— Holy cow, Lemmee, how did you— Wait, Orca?!"
"Wait, what?!" she recoiled. "You weren't supposed to find me yet!"
"I guess you could say we got a bit impatient," YooHoo chuckled nervously. "What with a...sight we saw..."
She sighed, knowing that sooner or later, they'd know it was her that did it. "Look, as long as you just wanted to see me again to tell you about something, I won't complain."
"Guys, pull on my arms!" Lemmee said. "You need to get me out of here!"
"And push us in! Either of those options, as long as we all get unstuck," YooHoo said.
"Push you in? Okay!" Chewoo chirped, and began pushing Lemmee's face.
"H-hey— Chewoo— I said 'pull me out', not 'push me in'!"
Orca was becoming extremely uncomfortable in such a tight spot as this went on.
"Chewoo— CHEWOO— I SAID STOP—"
All three popped out of the hole to the inside of the tree.
"Whoa... That's big," YooHoo noted.
Looking outside, Lemmee could see that it was a rather large hole.
Orca noticed something deeper within.
A tablet.
Inspecting it closely, it looked like some intricate carvings of an animal holding something, a Soul Pot, and a Monster next to the animal.
"Guys," she said, "I think this is what we're supposed to be doing to stop the Undeadification."
"What do you mean?" YooHoo asked.
"Look." She gave it to him and pointed at the carving. "In order to get the Monsters dealt with, you need to put Souls in the Soul Pot. In order to get these Souls, you need to fight the Undead."
"How are we supposed to do that, though? I mean, we haven't come across any since we first saw them," Lemmee told her.
"As soon as we get out of here, we'll need to figure out a way to fight them more efficiently," she told him.
The gators fidgeted as they stood near the door to the Boss's office in their castle in the Death Forest.
"So..." Oops said, trying to break the tension. "About us still not having seen a Monster yet."
"Yeah. I thought it would be here by now," Koops told him.
"Do you think it would...try to eat us?"
His brother shuddered at the image that came to his head.
"I sure hope not."
"Oops! Koops! Get in here!" the Boss's voice rang out from behind the door. "We are about to witness the arrival of a lifetime!"
The duo gulped as they opened the door and went in, preparing themselves for what was to come.

Chapter Five: Roodee's rather big problem
"Wow... What a scene..."
YooHoo and the others were staring at the sight of what appeared to be an Undead version of a bloodbath.
There was goo and tattered cloth everywhere, with a singed crater in one spot in particular.
"If only Roodee could see this," Chewoo noted.
Ever since Orca had given the stuff to them, Roodee had been holed up in his house studying everything.
"Should we keep looking for Orca?" Pammee asked.
"Don't you remember what she said? We need to fight these Undead before we can get back to her," Lemmee told her.
"But Roodee hasn't even been with us for the past few days," she responded.
"I'm sure he'll come back to us once he's gotten everything figured out," YooHoo said. "Then we'll decide on who takes the potion, and then we'll test that in a fight when we get to some. After all, it did seem interesting..."
Roodee pushed up his glasses as he continued to inspect the small drop of the potion and its properties.
After a while of searching, he'd finally found the blueprint and finished up the latest contraption.
This was the invention he'd wanted to tell the others about. It was able to inspect the DNA of whatever had some in there, so he could know the source.
And, according to that, he'd discovered that the potion was made with some Monster DNA.
Maybe that was what would cause the transformation Orca told them about?
He grabbed the flask and swirled it, watching the concoction swish around in the glass.
The only thing he should do now was—
"ROODEE! COME OUTSIDE!"
The squirrel's voice startled him to the point he spilled the potion all over himself, much of it splashing into his mouth.
He tried to spit it out, but as he'd already swallowed some, it was pointless.
"Y-yeah?"
"I think a Monster did it! You won't believe what you'll see, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon!"
He had no choice but to come out and join them.
A few days had passed since then.
He had no clue as to why all of this was happening now.
It started with the headaches. He could barely move when they occurred, and every day when it happened, he just wanted to curl up in his bed and cry from it all.
Then came the hunger. It wasn't impacting how much he ate, in fact, that was pretty much the same as before; it was what he'd wanted to eat this hunger was kicking him in the butt for. It sucked when he'd wanted a nice, juicy mango and instead thought about wanting to take a bite-sized chunk of Lemmee's tail for abolutely no reason at all.
Those were the only symptoms that something was absolutely wrong with him.
He couldn't stand it.
Today he was finally going to find Orca and try to ask her about...this.
Getting out of bed, he kept thinking about everything.
Why did he have to get the potion on him? Shouldn't he have just given it to Lemmee instead?
He sighed.
There had to be some explanation.
A sharp pain shot through his head and stomach, forcing him on all fours.
He sputtered and coughed as the pain only grew in his lower back, it was like he was being pulled like soft taffy in all directions...
Wait, what?
Before he knew it, he was able to stand again, letting him see what had happened.
His arms were much longer than before, and he could only describe himself as a freakishly tall, fuzzy noodle.
He trembled, knowing this wasn't over. Oh, not in the slightest.
He sure wished it would be the end of it, though.
Well... He was going to suffer some more.
He pushed his back against the wall as the transformation surged into its second stage, his newly-elongated body now gaining muscle, biting his lip to keep himself from screaming as his arms ballooned out right in front of him.
Tears blurred his vision as he continued to silently pray to whatever higher being, if there was one, who could listen.
He panted and groaned as his chest reshaped to fit his now-increasingly burly frame, grunts deepening to suit his new size.
He squeezed his eyes shut, not wanting to witness any more of this horror...
Then, just like that, it was over.
He didn't want to see himself.
But if he opened his eyes, surely he'd...
He opened one eye.
Nothing so far.
He opened the other.
...Huh.
Looking in his mirror, he could see that it was still him.
Him, of course, except big and muscly.
He contemplated making a few poses to show off his new body, but he immediately changed his mind on the matter.
Maybe he could take off his glasses instea—
"ROODEE, I'VE LITERALLY TOLD YOU A THOUSAND TIMES THAT WE NEED TO LOOK FOR ORCA!"
Uh-oh.
The transformed capuchin, still getting used to such a top-heavy body, sped to the door and shoved himself on it to keep it closed.
Okay, Roodee, stay calm, stay calm...
Tumblr media
How was he going to do that? How long was he going to stay like this? What if he was going to look like this forever? He didn't want to be stuck like this forever...
He didn't want anyone getting suspicious.
As soon as he knew nobody was near his house, he decided to go back to bed.

Chapter Four: Dragon in the forest
She was back in the trees, watching the Undead closely.
Counting at least a dozen of them, she began to plan out her strategy.
If I take care of that Bandead in the middle and then pass through those Amoeba Zombies, I could give YooHoo and the others a decent fighting chance. I don't want to deal with all of these, but I definitely don't want to waste this either... Gotta plan carefully. I won't use it until absolutely necessary.
It wasn't long before the Undead noticed her.
And they came for her fast.
"Guess I don't have a choice, then," she muttered, jumping down.
A blinding light surrounded her as she was in mid-air, robbing the Undead of the drastic transformation that was about to occur.
She grew much larger with muscle mass, powerful arms becoming equipped with newly-grown claws, her face lengthening into a fang-filled snout, horns growing in to finish it off.
When the light dispersed, a dragon-like beast was in the little animal's place.
Of course, with the transformation came clothes, as well.
This was the true power of a Monster.
She didn't have a lot of time to spend like this.
Time to make it count.
The dragon let out a booming roar to assert dominance over the creatures coming after her.
And then the carnage began.
Grabbing two of the Amoeba Zombies, she smashed them together as if they were some sort of squishy cymbals, leaving behind piles of goop and clothes in their place.
She easily tore a Bandead in half with her claws, smashed a hole into another Amoeba Zombie's chest, so on.
Only two remained by the time she was about close to when she'd be forced to transform back to keep herself from further exhausting herself.
She jumped, blasted fire at them, then shot back down and crushed them under her weight.
When the dust settled, she reverted back into her previous form.
This sure tired her out.
But at least she'd helped the others, right?

Chapter Three: Monsters of Legend
"Grandfather Looney?"
The wise owl stopped reading as the door to his home opened.
"You have guests."
"Ah, Orca, how nice it is to see you again," he said, smiling as he welcomed the others inside.
"I'd say the same thing with you," she replied. "Glad to see time hasn't changed you much."
Looney laughed. "Oh, you never fail to amuse me."
"So, we wanted to talk to you about these strange lights that came from several places, but one of them was the Death Forest. Do you know about them?" YooHoo asked.
"And there were these things called the Undead that looked like friends! There was this goo lizard and a walking raccoon bomb in bandages that had bombs with it!" Chewoo chirped.
"Chewoo, how many times do I have to tell you, they're not friends!" Lemmee snapped.
The owl's expression sobered as he heard what was described.
"I see."
He walked over to a book nobody else had seen before.
"Grandfather Looney? What's that?" Roodee inquired.
"Little ones... What you are about to hear is the story of the Undead, and their masters, the Monsters."
A long time ago, there were no such thing as Monsters.
There were only animals, and nothing would change for quite some time.
However, that all changed during the first instance of Undeadification.
It is unknown when this phenomenon began, but this was when many animals first transformed.
Along with this, the restless souls of the departed were revived into the Undead we know today.
To ensure the safety of the island, this led to the creation of the Soul Pots, scattered across different locations to pacify the threat.
However, ever since that time, every thousand years, the Undeadification will begin anew, reawakening the Monsters and Undead from their slumber and putting Yootopia in danger in the process.
"No way..." Chewoo muttered. "So you're saying this whole 'Undeadification' thing is why we saw those things?"
"So is this the right time to say that this probably isn't supposed to be the right time for this to happen?" Lemmee asked.
"I believe so," Looney said grimly. "If this is happening now, someone may have used one of the Soul Pots to use the Monsters for their own gain."
"That's horrible! Is there anything we can do?" Pammee asked.
"Orca will be accompanying you in your journey to find whoever is responsible and to bring this calamity to a halt."
"I need to keep an eye out for a while, so I'm going to have to leave."
She pulled out a strange flask. "Here. You guys take this."
Roodee took it. "Um, what's this supposed to be?"
"It's a potion to transform into a Monster."
"Wait, you're saying we should become Monsters to fight the Monsters? Isn't that technically—"
"Don't interrupt me, Lemmee. I only have enough for one of you. Take these clothes, too."
She threw a rather cool-looking tuxedo and a pair of shoes towards them.
"Once you've decided on taking on the opportunity, go and find me."
She made her way to the door, turning to face them one last time.
"If you really want us to work together, fight the Undead. Fight them and win, and keep winning. Prove you guys are in the right."
She left.
The five didn't know what to think.

Chapter Two: Orca, the forest protector
"Uh-oh..."
"Do we run?" Chewoo asked.
"Of course we run, Chewoo!" Lemmee shouted. "Isn't that what we're supposed to do so none of us die?!"
"I mean, surely we can deal with these some other way. There has t— OH GOSH, PAMMEE, MOVE!"
Roodee shoved the fennec out of the way when the raccoon-thing threw a bomb.
"We need to run. Like, now," Lemmee urged.
And so they did.
Of course, they had company following them.
"Why are these things following us?!" Roodee cried.
"I don't know where they came from, but they certainly weren't here when we saw those lights!" YooHoo said. "Either they were hiding before, or—"
"There's more new friends! Hi, new friends!"
"Chewoo, they're not our friends!"
Sure enough, there were a lot more of those weird slime lizards and bomb raccoons right in front of them.
"Yep, we're dead," Lemmee said, shrugging.
"Lemmee, try to be a little more optimistic..."
"Hey."
Everyone was confused.
"Who said that?"
"I'm up here."
After a few moments of looking around, the five friends could see a lizard-like animal looking at them from one of the trees near them.
Tumblr media
"Unless you guys wanna die, come with me."
Everyone looked amongst themselves as they discussed about the stranger before them.
"Do we trust this person? I mean, she did tell us not to come if we want to accept that we're going to die," Lemmee whispered.
"Hey, since you said we're gonna die, maybe you should stay behind," YooHoo said jokingly.
"YooHoo, that's not funny!"
"I don't have any time left to waste here! C'mon, you either follow me, or let the Undead take over!"
They decided on the former, climbing the tree and joining the new arrival.
As the Undead looked around for their prey, everyone could sense that this character was at least somewhat trustworthy.
"How do you know what these things are?" Pammee asked.
"Trust me, I know how to deal with them if they end up becoming a problem."
"Hey, what's your name, anyway? I'm Chewoo, these are my friends YooHoo, Lemmee, Pammee, and Roodee."
"Huh. I see. I'm Orca. I'm going to help you. Just this once."
"Thanks, Orca!" Roodee cheered.
"We were trying to get to Grandfather Looney's house to try to explain this whole thing. I was wondering if you could show us the way there," YooHoo told her.
"Grandfather Looney?" She smiled. "Of course I do. He nursed me back to health a long time ago. I'm sure he'll be happy to see me again. Especially now."
"Yeah! Maybe your connection with him could give us an answer!"
"I know a good shortcut there from here. Follow me."
With Orca around, maybe adapting to a new Undead-filled Yootopia wouldn't be so bad after all.

Chapter One: The day that things went wacko
"Where is he?!"
Lemmee the lemur was not having a good time.
Roodee had told everyone the previous morning that he had some new invention in store.
Everyone had been present when it was time for the update.
All except for one.
"Have you seen YooHoo anywhere?" he called out to anyone who could listen.
Except there wasn't really anyone who could listen.
"Are you all deaf? Has YooHoo come around here at all?"
No response.
He sighed.
"There has to be some sort of excuse he'd use to get out of coming to Roodee's on time."
He scoffed to himself. "He better have one."
After a long while of fruitless searching, his ears twitched as he heard the sound of snoring.
Looking up, he saw who he was looking for.
"YooHoo..."
No response.
"Yoo~Hoo~..."
Still not budging.
Well. Looks like it was time.
"YOOHOOWAKEUPYOUNEEDTOGETTOROODEE'SNOWDON'TGIVEMEANEXCUSE!" he shouted, banging his hands on the tree.
That startled him awake, but that also made him fall out.
Fortunately his lemur friend was there to catch him.
Of course, if catching him meant "cushioning his fall", that was 100 percent what happened.
"What was it about going to Roodee's?"
Lemmee groaned.
"Oh..."
"Just... Come to Roodee's... Please..."
He complied.
"I know you wanted good news, but... I seem to have forgotten about what I was supposed to be making."
"Are you serious?! What was the whole point of me getting YooHoo, then?!"
YooHoo couldn't blame his capuchin friend for his little blunder.
"Lemmee, please don't get mad, I'm sure it was just a little problem," Pammee the fennec told him.
"Yeah! Besides, it was just a blueprint I misplaced!"
"Hey, could you tell us what it was? Or at least tell me?" Chewoo the squirrel chirped. "I know it had to be something cool, right?"
"Uh... Well..."
The island suddenly began to rumble.
"Whoa! Is there a volcano ready to erupt here or something?"
"No, it's that light! Look at it!"
YooHoo squinted as he focused on it. His eyes widened as he recognized where it was coming from.
"No way... The Death Forest?!"
Now, even mentioning the Death Forest was enough to keep anyone away from it. So, something happening there that nobody has witnessed before that would be a hint that there was something in there?
Yeah... Not normal.
"Do we— Should we tell Grandfather Looney about this?" Roodee stammered.
"I say no. It's probably just some weird phenomenon. Besides, it's not like there's more of those around," Lemmee said, shrugging.
"You were saying?" Chewoo asked, pointing at something else from afar.
"Oh, you've gotta be kidding me," the lemur moaned as he noticed several more of those strange lights coming from other parts of the island.
"It's a success!" the Boss cheered. "I knew there were more Soul Pots!"
"Yeah, but... But what about the Monster things?!" Oops shouted.
"Yeah! When are we gonna see the first one?" Koops added.
"It won't be long, boys," the Boss grinned. "It won't be long..."
"We're almost there, guys!" YooHoo called. "Just a few more minutes!"
"Gee, I sure hope we don't get anything in the way! It suuure would be bad!" Lemmee snarked.
"Lemmee, you've already jinxed yourself once, you don't want that to happen again," Pammee warned.
"Hey, is that a new friend?" Chewoo pointed out. "Hi, buddy!"
This "new friend" looked... Odd. It looked like a lizard, yet it seemed... Gooey. Almost like slime. It seemed to be wearing tattered clothing as well.
"I... Don't think that thing's friendly," Roodee said.
Pammee's ears flicked at the sound of crackling behind her.
Turning around, she saw a raccoon(?)-like creature that appeared to be wrapped in bandages with a burning tail.
This was when they all knew.
Yootopia was under attack.

Prologue: The serene calm before the devastating storm
It was yet another peaceful day on the island of Yootopia.
This was an island of joy and prosperity, but it held many valuable secrets...well, except for one thing: a spring dubbed "The Fountain of Youth", whose waters were believed to grant whoever drank it eternal youth.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the only thing the island was known for.
The Death Forest was the one place no one dared set foot into, though it had many secrets of its own.
And one such secret was what three notable inhabitants of the area were looking for.
"I'm tired," the dark-skinned alligator whined. "How long until we get to the artifact you've been rambling about?"
"Oops, shush! We can't get on his bad side when we're this close to getting to the endgame of our plan!" his shorter, fairer-skinned brother hissed.
"Oh, we're just about close," the shady figure known only as the Big Boss told told them. "This is the only way we can truly get our hands on the Fountain of Youth. In fact..."
As soon as they set foot on their destination, both gators oohed and ahhed at the sight of the device in front of them, Oops even removing his shades to see better.
The only way the brothers could describe it as was a glorified recycling bin with no sides with an inside that shone a supernatural light.
"Boss... It's just a trashca—"
"SHUT UP!" the Boss snapped.
That silenced them good.
"As I was saying..." he continued, regaining his composure. "This is a Soul Pot. There may be many more scattered around the island, but even one has a special power. Oops, Koops... With this, we can command ancient creatures known as Monsters."
"M-M-Monsters?!" the gators stammered, scared for their lives at the thought.
"B-but Boss, that's dangerous!" Oops cried.
"Are you really sure we have to do this?!" Koops yelped.
"Of course I am, you bumbling idiots!" the Boss shouted.
And so he reached into the light...
