Tawakkul is more than saying تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ. It is to put your newborn son inside a basket and place it in a river. It is to place the slaughter knife at your son's throat. It is to migrate from your homeland while your enemies are plotting to murder you. It is to be stuck inside the belly of a whale. It is to be thrown into a well by your own blood. It is to believe Allah is Al-Wakeel, and that even if the whole world turned against you, nothing will be able to harm you.

‘Umar Ibn al-Khattab رضي الله عنه said: ‘Three things make your brother’s love (wadd) for you pure: that you greet him when you see him, that you give him space in a gathering, and that you call him with his names that you love the most.’

The Refinement of Character by Imam Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi رحمه الله pg. 71

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"There is no trouble that comes to a believer

except that it obliterates from his sins,

even if it is the pricking of a thorn."

Self reflection is so gut wrenching and wholesome. To reflect on your sins and to be reminded of them is means to keep asking forgiveness and making tawbah for those sins. May Allah grant us all self reflection Ameen 🤲🏼

From time to time, my past sins haunt me. It breaks my heart reflecting on how bad I’ve become, especially considering how better as a Muslim i used to be :/
