If I had a girlfriend
If I had a girlfriend, I’d want her to feel pretty, no matter what she looks like and where she’s been.
I’d bake her cookies on lazy mornings, braid her hair if she has it long and give her back massages when she’s weary after a long day, I’d draw her when she’s smiling and make her laugh when she’s not, I’d take pictures of her when she’s not looking, listen to her talk about what she likes, watch her dance when she doesn’t care about the world, tell her she’s beautiful and sing her to sleep if she’s scared of the silence.
I’d grow her plants and make her necklaces of seashells and crystals, I’d take her to the mountains and show her all the flowers and the trees and the frogs in the ponds around my grandparent’s home.
I’d draw on her hands and kiss her lips only when she wants me to, I’d want her to know she’s beautiful and queenly no matter what people think, I’d want her to feel loved and know she can always find an ear when I’m near, I’d want her to feel safe, and free, and confident, to support her when she needs me and watch her grow along the way.
I’d want to be the support she deserves, and let her walk her path with a smile on my lips. I’d want to love her the way she deserves, and feel content with being loved in return.

She was beautiful, but not like those girls in the magazines. She was beautiful for the way she thought. She was beautiful for that sparkle in her eyes when she talked about something she loved. She was beautiful for her ability to make other people smile even if she was sad. No, she wasn’t beautiful for something as temporary as her looks. She was beautiful, deep down to her soul. F. Scott Fitzgerald

I wish I could explain your eyes, and how the sound of your voice gives me butterflies. How your smile makes my heart skip a beat and how every time I’m with you, I feel so complete.
