I miss fatou and I need to rewatch her season again, but this season is definitely one of my fav (& the best) seasons in the entire skamverse!!

She is black lesbian, but the storyline is not entirely about the fact that she is a black lesbian main!!! Which is what makes it so goood and refreshing!!! And also my girl had 5+ different hairstyles throughout her season, which is just iconic, fenomenal and so important 🥺 like our hair is part of our identity!!! 💆🏿‍♀️ So props to the hair department!! Yasmina | no one understands me

After exposing her racist and islamophobic bullies, Blonde Ambition, Yasmina felt misunderstood by her so-called friends. They did not understand nor care to know why Yasmina uploaded private messages of her bullies online. They blamed her for their further actions towards Amber, and sympathized with Blonde Ambition. All Yasmina wanted was for her friends to open their eyes and face the truth. However, they did not give her the chance to explain why she did it. She lost her friends on the way and entered a state of frustration, fear, and loneliness. On top of that, Yasmina was struggling with her own identity as a teenage Muslim woman of color. She felt the pressure of being seen as the "perfect Muslim" and she experienced being in love for the first time. She had difficulty communicating her feelings towards Younes, Aïcha, her father, and her mother, which lead to more conflicts. Towards the end, she realizes how freeing and important it is to trust those who are there for her: Mother Ait Omar, Aïcha, Moyo, Younes (+ Father Ait Omar and Elias).

Interpretation of the song:

Everytime "Habibi" is sung, Yasmina is at a state of isolation, frustration, and loneliness. She holds the idea that her environment does not understand her struggles. At the same time it is a cry for help to that one person in her life who cares for her, Younes.

The lyric "the caring left" describes how Yasmina's friends were careless of her perspective and how she herself gave up. .

"As long as I sing, I'll let the birds in": only when Yasmina opens up her heart and communicates her feelings, her friends and family can comfort her through her endeavors.

"Is there anyone out there, to get me out of my head?" describes how Yasmina felt trapped in her head since no one was able to understand the problems she was facing. However, she luckily had people around her that cared for her and comforted her. Towards the end, Yasmina feels free and happy after realizing that people can understand her.

this video is very different from the ones i made before. the song has no lyrics so i kinda went with what the instruments reminded me of or tried to group together themes like falling out and then, forgiving. i am really proud of it! the song is a favourite of mine and it sort of reminds me of life in general so i tried to present ‘life in the skamverse’.
