Got reminded of why i hold the character of Choi Taek so close to my heart.
Episode sixteen of Reply 1988. Taek finally mustered up the courage of asking out the love of his life, only to realize that his best friend is also in love with the one he loves. He saw the way Junghwan looked at her, saw the photo of them he kept in his wallet. Yet he handed the wallet to Deoksun and asked her to return it to Junghwan. He had to win that match to confess to her and he did it. He was in a whole different country yet he made plans with her just so he can finally confess. Just to delay it all. He simply chose not to confess even when he had it all figured out. Just to help out a friend. He wanted his best friend to try and get the girl he loves. EVEN WHEN HE LOVES THE SAME GIRL SO BAD THAT BRO EVEN CRIED. WHAT IS THIS. There’s a reason why men like that only exist in fictional worlds i suppose. Or maybe that's just male friendship, if that's true, it'd be a reason to have faith in humanity.

My review about reply 1988: part. 1
Jung-hwan, deuk-sun and taek: (contains spoilers!)
I think the reason a lot of people liked the second male lead, jung-pal was because he was the typical male lead in most kdramas. He ridiculed deuk-sun any chance he got and hesitated a lot, which may be one of the reasons he didn't end up with the girl he loved. After watching the second episode, I was sure Taek was the husband. When you're married to someone who has a totally different personality than you, you somehow adapt their personality, which is what I think happened to the older taek who everyone thought was jung-hwan since older taek had the exact vibe as him.
I'm not going to sugarcoat anything so I have to admit, Choi taek's character was pretty boring as compared to the other characters in the drama. He was quite timid and was very fragile. One thing I've noticed is that Jung-hwan and taek's character match the go-game stones. Jung-hwan was the black stone and one of the traits of the black colour is strength and the white stone was taek, which makes sense since he was calm and collected. (I don't think many of you have noticed but taek wears mostly white and jung-hwan is seen mostly in black)
Imo, taek was a pretty good guy. He communicated well and wasn't quick to ridicule deuk-sun like jung-hwan did. Maybe that was what deuk-sun needed?
In the go-game, The game proceeds until neither player wishes to make another move. Applying this rule, we can see how jung-hwan gave up on deuk-sun in the end, leading to taek winning. Mind you, jung-hwan hesitating was the biggest mistake here. If he had gone after seeing deuk-sun's ex with a new girl at the cinema, he could've made it before taek did.
P.s: The way taek looks at deuk-sun though 🥹🤌 they're definitely one of my favourite couple!
-love,pom! 🪄

Hi, I love your take and I want to give mine if that’s okay :p
I knew after Sunwoo confessed to Bo-ra that Deok Sun was going to end up with Taek. They had set everything up so perfectly, building her relationship with him. We could see why he liked her and eventually why she liked him. Taek was in LOVE with Deok Sun but Jung Hwan only had a crush. Jung Hwan liked her but it wasn’t like how Taek liked Deok Sun. It just wasn’t the same regardless of Jung Hwan not being brave enough to confess or treat her a little nicer.
I do wish that Jung Hwan and Deok Sun had a serious conversation after the “fake confession”. I wanted Jung Hwan to win so badly but I knew in my heart of hearts that it was going to be Taek. I know Deok Sun probably knew that the confession was real but I felt like we didn’t really get any closure with their relationship. I feel for Jung-pal, he is a great guy but he we wasn’t in love Deok Sun, not like Taek.
I also want to add that with Taek, we knew why he was in love with Deok Sun. However, with Jung Hwan there wasn’t really a reason why he liked her, he just did. I can infer that okay maybe he liked her silliness and her unwavering spirit but even when he “confessed” it wasn’t like “I like you because…” it was more “I did this because I liked you”. It was just hard for me when I looked back, Taek was always the right choice for her.
Just finished Reply 1988. I legit cannot believe that Deok Sun and Jung Hwan did not end up together. It makes NO SENSE . Also the overall ending/end of an era completely fckn depressed me I swear I don’t think I can handle the feels of these kdramas

how is isis different from hamas?
Gonna make it easy and comprehensible:
ISIS or DA'ISH is a transnational terror organization consisting of Iraqi Baathists, former Syrian rebels or moderates, recruited fighters from all over the world, former US captives in Iraq, and oppressed and disenfranchised Sunnis. Wahhabi in nature, ISIS subscribes to the literalist tradition of Islam. Their religious verdicts are based on the literal interpretation of the Qur'an and Sunnah, rejecting metaphorical exegesis. They aim to establish a global caliphate, seeking to eliminate anyone who opposses it regardless of religious or ideological differences. They see their cause as a hastening of various Islamic end time prophecies in their interpretation of Islamic eschatology. Like many Salafis, they reject Taqlid, which is to conform to one of the four schools of thought in Sunni Islam. On top of that, they reject religious innovations (Bid'ah), which is the idea that anything introduced to the religion without any religious basis is heresy. Whether it be practical or theological, they deem any Muslim who engage in Bid'ah to be an apostate or heretic. They are notorious for their intolerance of non-Muslims and application of Takfirism (excommunication). Christians had to pay the Jizya (poll tax) in their territories, while in other cases, they were murdered, expelled and had their churches destroyed or converted. They have no tolerance for Shi'a Muslims and will kill them on the spot (see: Speicher Massacre), and will often target them with IEDs or suicide bombers. Non-Muslims, like the Ezidis or Ahlul Haqq, were often subjected to execution whereas their women and children were either married away, converted or used as sex slaves. DAESH is not interested in national liberation, seeing it as a blasphemous innovation. DAESH does not consider Hamas to be Muslims due to struggle for national liberation which is supported by Iran and various Shi'i proxies.
Hamas is a political and military resistance group that consists of Palestinians. After the failures of the Oslo accord, Hamas broke away from PLO and formed their own political party. They either subscribe to the Shafi'i school of thought or some form of Ikhwani Salafism (Salafism as envisioned by the Muslim Brotherhood). They're a semi-governmental power in Gaza and are responsible for upholding the social and civil institutions, such as hospitals, schools and etc. Hamas' specific aim is localized and seeks to destroy the Zionist entity in order to form a one-state solution under an Islamic emirate or Islamic democracy. Their only enemy is Israel and any of its allies. As of the Hamas charter of 2017, they do not have an intolerance for non-Muslims or people of different religious and ideological comportments, as seen by them holding ties with both Shi'a and Socialist militias, such as Hezbollah and the PFLP/DFLP. Hamas is concerned with the national liberation of Palestine and the Palestinians. They are not concerned with global jihadism like ISIS nor do they carry out attacks internationally.

What was is it secretary-general António Guterres said you ask?
Israel has called on UN secretary general Guterres to resign after he said that the “appalling attacks” by Hamas against Israel on 7 October cannot justify the “collective punishment of the Palestinian people”, and spoke of “the clear violations of international humanitarian law that we are witnessing in Gaza.” Guterres had said “Nothing can justify the deliberate killing, injuring and kidnapping of civilians – or the launching of rockets against civilian targets. All hostages must be treated humanely and released immediately and without conditions.” [Source]

Very unfriendly reminder, you can support Palestine without being antisemitic.
Yes, what is happening in Palestine is an absolute utter tragedy. It is a genocide. It is pure unbridled awfulness. All of this is true. Yes, it is true that Israel, the state, is complicit in this genocide. They are being enabled by various western countries, not least of which is the United States. This is also true.
But I've been seeing some comments - both here on Tumblr and on other sites - lumping in just the general Jewish population as the aggressor against Palestine. Now, I haven't seen that many, but I've definitely seen enough to get very, very angry about this, so let's clear the air right now.
You do not hate Jewish people. You despise the state of Israel and its government. You hate Netanyahu, and that is a VERY important distinction to make.
You do not hate Jewish people. You detest Zionism and the measurable harm it has brought to Palestinians. You hate the Zionist ideology, and that is also a VERY important distinction to make.
YOU DO NOT HATE JEWISH PEOPLE. You strongly oppose the kneejerk overreaction of the Israeli Defense Force, and their absolutely senseless bombings of Gaza. You are viscerally angry about the US's propping up of a military dictator (Netanyahu) and RIGHTFULLY SO! It is ALSO also A VERY, VERY IMPORTANT DISTINCTION TO MAKE!
Israel, the state, has an overwhelmingly large population of Zionists, absolutely. Israel, the state, is dripping with xenophobia, absolutely. But let's all be absolutely clear that there are anti-Zionist Jews living in Israel, and it is FALSE that every Jewish person supports Israel. Blanket statements about Jewish people are not going to solve the genocide in Gaza.
So please, be angry about what's happening in Palestine, but do NOT lost sight of what you're angry about. Be angry about Netanyahu and his regime. Be angry about IDF war crimes. Be angry about Zionism's disregard for the Arab population. But the Jewish population is not the enemy, and if you're targeting them under some false pretense of "supporting Palestine," I wish your fanfiction nothing but utter failure.
Support Palestine, and protect the Jewish people in your life. Do both. I had better not catch a single one of you sending death threats to a Jewish person for just existing. Stay informed, and get angry at the right people responsible for the right reasons. I promise, there is plenty to be angry about already.

Noah Schnapp, Shawn Levy and Joe Quinn (who is Joseph, I'm fairly certain) all signed the no hostage left behind letter.
The letter is full of celebrities names, but i wanted to highlight the ones tied to stranger things. I am not optimistic enough to believe that this is any indication that other members don't agree.
The real kick is that the letter is pointless. The media made the "mistake" of allowing a recently released Hamas hostage speak live on the news.
She revealed that she, and the other hostages, were treated well. She spoke of reassurances that Hamas gave her, telling her that she wouldn't be harmed. They made sure the hostages were well fed and cared for. They were sharing their own food.
This is the same terror group that Israel is using as an excuse to commit genocide. Not only are they bombing Gaza, explicitly aiming for anyone (including civilians), they are also bombing the west bank.
47% of the population of Gaza are children. The hospitals are going to run out of power any hour now. The west bank has literally nothing to do with Hamas. They're only being targeted because they're Palestinians.
If you still support Israel, or are still under the illusion that Palestinian people are the villains, you aren't paying attention.

PLEASE READ: 🇵🇸
i know i reblogged it a bit ago but i wanted to share this again to make sure people see. please check out these resources below and educate yourselves on what’s been going on in Palestine for decades. it’s so heartbreaking to watch thousands of men, women, and children dying at the hands of Israel.
what’s also heartbreaking is that there are people who have the audacity to debate whether or not this is genocide. IT IS 100% genocide happening right in front of us; there is no other way to put it. stop supporting these celebrities who are posting stupid instagram stories about their support for Israel. they are all ignorant in thinking they’re helping by further supporting genocide. the audacity to pretend to care about Israeli people dying while the government they [celebrities] support is also murdering Palestinians.
one last thing. GENOCIDE is NOT something we can “be neutral” on btw, and if you think so you need to reevaluate yourself and your morals.
again, please check out the resources below. stay safe, i love you all.

* Israel says all Palestinians must vacate northern Gaza within 24 hours
* Israel says significant military operations will take place in Gaza City in the coming days and residents must move south
this is ethnic cleansing in full view.
and make no mistake this is done so when a literal massacre takes place within 24 hours, these genocidal mfs will throw up their hands and say "we warned them"

When BoJack Horseman (2014-2020) said "you can't keep doing shitty things and then feel bad about yourself like that makes it ok. you need to be better" and "all we have are the connections we make" and "I really should've thought about the view from halfway down" and "sometimes you have to take responsibility for your own happiness" and "you do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around, you turn yourself around, THAT'S what it's all about" and "things have to get worse before they can get better" and "in real life, the big gesture isn't enough, you need to be consistent" and "if we hadn't met each other until now, we wouldn't be the people we are now" and, my personal favourite, "every day it gets a little easier, but you gotta do it every day, that's the hard part, but it does get easier".
