Today we went to Sea Bowl before they close on the 31st. Glad we got to see it, but also just…really depressed such a cool spot is closing down, never to be seen again.

It really feels like these cool spots are just dying off faster and faster post-COVID, being replaced with either more housing or minimalist techbro garbage that makes it feel like the soul is being sucked from these cool towns.

My girlfriend said I just had this look of pure nostalgia as we sat and watched people play, but really it was just a look of “I’m immensely sad about this but trying not to let it screw with me too bad.”

When life hands you lemons…

I’m building a new HTPC/Jellyfin server and put out a call amongst friends to see if anyone had a potato GPU that could do 4K decode like my old RX550 could. What happened was someone making me a trade deal I couldn’t refuse for a…GTX 1070Ti. Only one issue, the card was too massive to fit in the machine!

Thankfully the person who handed me the 1070 has a spare ATX case that WILL fit it, so there’s that. Should be here later in the week and then we can finally cinch this up.

Some people may disagree, but one of my favorite things in recent memory are the Gen III Pokémon remakes on 3DS. I sank so much time on the original games back in high school and it’s by far my favorite generation and Alpha Sapphire just took it all and made it better.

However, nothing will compare to the moment when I got the Eon Flute, asked “wtf does this thing do?”, used it, and holy moly, if I could experience this for the first time again…I would. My inner teenager just cried tears of joy at that moment, because holy shit, I’m flying! Like a damned airship! With awesome music behind it, too!

Seeing the world I once knew in a different way like that, it’s really hard to describe the feeling.
