To Belle, From Santa
Resting underneath the tree, there is a burlap sack with a stamp of a bulb ornament. Toward the top of the sack, it’s cinched tightly with a bright blue ribbon. Inside of the sack hides a leather bound journal. The leather is a deep amber color and has nicely rounded corners. Reaching across the middle of the journal, a strap is tucked underneath a flap to keep the journal shut. On the inside cover is a note that reads, “The greatest joys in life are found in words.”
Belle woke with a sleepy grin on her face as she slid out of bed and left her room. Reaching the kitchen, her eyes fell on her father, already up and about and putting on a kettle to boil water. "Good morning, Papa." He turned and grinned.
"Oh, there you are. Merry Christmas, dear." Turning from the stove, he met her in the middle of the kitchen for a warm embrace.
"Merry Christmas, Papa." Belle shifted her head and pressed a kiss to his cheek. "Would you like me to start breakfast?"
Maurice shook his head. "No, not just yet. Why don't you go visit the tree? I think good ol' St. Nick left you a little something."
"Oh, alright. I'll go see what it is, then." She chuckled and headed into the living room, gaze darting under the tree. A few presents already sat there, the gifts both her and Papa wrapped for each other. But a new one sat there as well, a burlap sack tied with blue ribbon. Belle reached down and took it, loosened the ribbon and reached inside, retrieving a leatherbound journal within. Upon opening it, she found a note inside, her fingers trailing over the empty pages. Her lips curved into a small smile. It was a beautiful gift indeed.

help the animals; koda & belle [WINTER PROMPTS MINI THREAD]
telleverybody-imonmyway:
Koda turned his gaze back up to the lady with a smile on his face. Finally someone who didn’t run when he spoke to them!
"Well, you see I got some friends living over at this shelter, but it’s kinda been really run-down lately and they could really use some help with things like getting food for everyone, and stuff." he cub began to explain, or at least as best a child can anyway.
"Also one of my friends is really sick, but they think she could get better if she got some proper blankets to curl up in along with the food too." He added before pausing a bit, his ears pulling back a bit and his brown eyes pleading. "Do you think you may be able to help?"
Belle listened carefully, taking in everything the small bear cub told her. A frown appeared on her face when she mentioned one of his friends being sick. Helping sick animals wasn't a strong point of hers, but she could do her best.
"Alright, how about you just follow me? I'll head home and we can see what supplies we can come up with. How far away is this shelter?"

"And that's a wonderful way to share stories. The way I see it, so long as stories are shared, the platform doesn't really matter." Her lips curved into a smile. Maybe one day she would get to hear whatever stories he told, if not today, then on some other visit. "I have no doubt that your people tell incredible stories."
As Clopin jumped up and offered out a hand, Belle put a hand to her chest in a flattered motion. She reached forward and placed her hand in his, using the hold to rise to her feet. "And I am delighted to have you guide me. Shall we get going, then?"
Bonjour la Belle! // Belle & Clopin
Slightly embarrassed by her further questioning on the subject, Clopin cleared his throat. “Well, yes of course! I, eh, I use verbal memory rather than printed words to help bring my stories to life!” he explained.
Of course, never learning to read certainly helps with that …
Cloping thought bitterly to himself as he glanced at the book-enthusiastic Belle. “Tradition of my people, of course!” he gave her a fake explanation with a lighthearted shrug.
Jumping up, bells swaying about, Clopin offered his hand to help Belle up. “Why! It would only be my greatest honour, chere!” he grinned ear to ear.

"Well, that's a relief," Belle chuckled. "That I won't have offended anyone, that is. Not that you don' have anyone." Perhaps it wasn't necessary to clarify, but she felt the need anyway. The last thing she wanted was to offend if she could avoid it.
Her head turned towards the waitress, and she smiled at the woman as Hans placed their order. The waitress didn't notice her for a moment, however, and gave an embarrassed look when she did. Belle cleared her throat, lightly and shook her head. "No, we weren't." She gave a short laugh. "I suppose it's just their automatic assumption."

Most pirates Belle read about would scoff or snarl at the mere idea of  doing something so kind. Thankfully, Zarina was not one of those pirates, and Belle couldn't help but smile at that. She nodded and held the door open for her, then followed inside.
The ladies standing at the counter smiled and greeted her. Belle quickly introduced Zarina, then lead her over behind the counter. "Lets get our hair nets and gloves." Taking off her warm, knitted ones, she pocketed them and picked up some thin ones, slipped them on, and handed another pair to Zarina, followed by a hair net. "Just put these on and we can get started."

"Yes, just one more," Belle confirmed with a nod of her head. Seeing him start off the final one himself brought a smile to his face. Evidently, he was beginning to catch on.
She only watched for a few seconds before she joined him, packing and rolling the snow. With this one being smaller, they managed it in only a short amount of time, and between the both of them, raised it onto the top of the other two balls. "There weogo." Belle grinned as she stepped back and observed their work. It wasn't perfect, but could only be taken as a snowman. 'Now, if only we had some decorations. The poor thing doesn't have a face -- or a hat."

Their paths eventually crossed as they both circled around the tree, wrapping the tinsel round as they went. As Clopin bumped into her side she let out a laugh and shook her head in amusement, then returned to wrapping the tinsel. Every few seconds she stopped and adjusted the tinsel already wrapped round the tree, making sure none of it bunched up oddly.
"Why, it's for decoration, of course," Belle replied when she heard his question. "It was originally used for adorning sculptures, you know, and they were always made out of silver. But silver tends to look dull rather quickly, so now people will use just about anything shiny for it. Most people use it so that when we put the candles up on the branches it helps the flames flicker nicely, but I find it just blends in with the tree well, too."

Eyeing the red material oddly, Clopin held it up, inspecting it. He had never heard of … tinsel? And putting this all on a tree inside your home? Shaking his head in questionable submission to the rules of the holiday, Clopin circled around the tree, bumping into Belle on the other side.
Laughing at the outcome, he grinned. “Je suis désolé…” he mumbled as he went past her, around the other side. Calling from the other side, “What exactly is the point of putting on this .. er .. tinsel?” he questioned.

Eager to sit by the fire and hopefully warm up from all this melted snow, Belle led them over to the fireplace. Thankfully, her eyes didn't fail her, and there was an empty table with two chairs there. She gave a nod of thanks as he pulled her chair out and she took her seat.
Laughing, Belle quickly shook her head. "I just didn't want the waitress to get the wrong idea, is all. But you don't have to worry. There's no one back home who's going to bite your head off." She paused, chuckling as she rubbed her hands together for warmth. "I just hope there's no princess at home who'll be upset with me for it." Of course, she can think of one person who might be offended, but she wouldn't even call him a friendly acquaintance, in all honesty.
Her eyes scanned over the menu now, and she'd read over the entire menu in no time. "Oh good, they have hot cocoa!" she exclaimed once she saw the listing.

decorating the tree; clopin & belle [winter mini-rp]
clopinwilltellyou:
Stumbling inside, bells jingling around, Clopin swatted the snow away from his face, breathing hard into his hands. “Merci, Belle!” he grinned at her.
Nodding greetings at the inventor, he turned back to Belle, smiling brightly. “Why of course I will help you, chere!” Stepping over to the tree he looked it up and down as if inspecting it. “Oui, very nice tree you have here, Belle! However did you get it in here?”
Pushing the question away with a swipe of his hand he continued, “Oh nevermind that. I would be honored to accompany you both with your decorating!” he bowed towards her (mainly for show).
Now that Clopin was inside, Belle hurried back over to the box, but stopped at his question and chuckled. "Oh, Papa has a little contraption he uses to help carry it in here." Which, admittedly, sometimes sent their tree flying...but most days it worked.
When he finally agreed to helping decorate, her face lit up in a grin, and she clapped her hands in front of her. "Wonderful! I was just about to get out the tinsel." She grabbed an end of the shiny, red material and began tugging it out of the box. Once it was out, she passed one of the ends towards Clopin. "Help me wrap it around the tree, please?"

"Well, we have been away from home for about a week now," Belle calrified, giggling a little at his feigned sniffle. Honestly, she would love it if they stayed in Paris a few days more. The streets bustled with life and everything seemed new and exciting. But, they couldn't leave their cottage unattended forever. "I'm sure I'll come and visit again eventually, though. I've really enjoyed the trip here."
She watched curiously as he flipped through one of her books. The way he squinted at them made her raise an eyebrow. She wondered if perhaps he just didn't know how to read. "Really?" she asked as he muttered that he'd never been a reader. "I thought you might, if you're a storyteller and all. Do you simply carry them verbally, then?"
Clopin's offer brought a smile to her face. "Why don't you walk with me to drop these books off, then. After that, you can show me all the lesser known wonders of Paris."
Bonjour la Belle! // Belle & Clopin
"Eh, whatever puts bread on the tables!" he laughed.
Enjoying her new found excitement, Clopin smiled as she began explaining her miniature book story. Chuckling, he adjusted his hat, making a surprised frowny face. “Aww leave so soon?” he faked a sniffle.
"But you’ve only just begun to explore the depths of Paris, chère fille!" shrugging, he leaned down and pulled out a book from her basket, flipping around around to examine it as he squinted in an attempt to make out the words.
"Never been quite the reader myself.." he mumbled as he put the book back down, coming back up to smile at her once again. "Well, mademoiselle Belle, consider Clopin your Paris guide! Anywhere you need to go or find I shall escort you!" he exclaimed.

It was a cold evening, and Belle found herself walking a little faster on her way back home, ready to curl up in front of the fireplace. Perhaps she would make some hot chocolate for her and Papa, then sit down with a good book before bed. A common tradition in the winter months, but a favourite, nonetheless.
She continued on her way, until suddenly, a voice from below caught her attention. Belle looked down at the bear cub that stood just in front of her, gaze turned to the ground, paw kicking a little at the snow. It took a second for her to process that a bear cub was speaking to her, and she blinked in confuson, but then she merely shrugged and crouched down, a smile playing on her lips. "I wouldn't mind at all. What seems to be the matter, little one?"
Looks like SNOW!
Koda was padding around the streets looking left and right for someone, anyone he could really that would be willing to help out. So far he’d very little luck finding anyone that didn’t just run away at the sight of him. He sighed just about to give up and head back to tell the others the sad news but his ears perked as he spotted a woman walking by. He smiled and rushed over to her.
"Hey! Excuse me miss! I was wondering, I have some friends who could use some help, would you mind coming along to help out for a bit?" The bear cub asked, his brown eyes turned down to his feet as he kicked at the snow a bit out of nervousness, this lady was really pretty….

"Just three. One for the base, another for the stomach, and the last one is for its head," Belle explained. It took a while longer packing the snow this time, as it needed to be tighter so it would hold when they moved it. Every minute or so, Belle moved it around a little, making sure the bottom rounded out just as much as the rest of it. Finally, it seemed large and tightly packed enough that they could move it.
"Alright, now help me get this onto the base." She bent down and tucked her hands underneath the ball, ready to lift it once Firebird did the same.

Golly, it sure looks like snow, Miss!
9; make snow angels
The snow still fell lightly from the sky, floating downwards in soft flakes onto her head. Belle tilted her head upwards and closed her eyes, reveling in it. Mornings filled with light snowfall and freshly fallen snow piled onto the ground was one of her favourite things about winter. Unable to help herself, she let herself fall backwards and landed onto the soft snow, her arms and legs spread outwards.
Since the opportunity was too good to pass up, Belle began shifting her arms and legs back and forth, the action scooting the snow over as she went. Belle kept going for a minute or two, carving out the silhouette of an angel. Then, she heard the crunch of footsteps on the snow, and she quickly sat up, noticing the person was close by, walking in her direction. "Oh, I'm sorry, I'm not in your way, am I?"

47; oh hey, what's wrong with the oven -- AHHH FIRE!
Belle stood at the kitchen counter, rolling cookie dough between her hands, flattening it out on a board as she did so. "Ariel, could you pass me the dough roller?" she asked after a few moments, pointing towards the thin, cylinder shaped utensil on the far end of the counter. Earlier today she invited Ariel over for some holiday baking, and she had to admit, it felt nice having someone to share the activity with. Not that she did any baking often, but around the holidays, it felt appropriate.
Unfortunately, she also wasn't exactly good at it.
Before Ariel could respond to her request, Belle suddenly sniffed at the air, detecting an unpleasant aroma coming from the stove. "Do you smell tha-- Oh." No sooner had the words left her mouth, a loud dinging started from the stove (something Papa installed to go off when whatever was cooking finished), followed by a burst of fire.
