Y’all need to learn to stay in a fans place. Gillian isn’t miserable. She isnt anorexic. She is not with David. They are both living their own lives. Just because she isn’t with the person you want her to be with, doesn’t give you right to your fake psychoanalysis about a person you don’t even know personally.
I want to cry. Gillian is disappointing.
For a long time I really, really looked up to Gillian, anon. I even gave my daughter her ‘follow your heart, not your boyfriend’ quote as a graduation gift because it really did (and does) sound like good advice for a young woman.
That being said, it seems to me all the things she says she does and the way she lives her life is one big lie, a way to make good press. Remember her “married men are a no go” or the whole WE book mess of ditching Jennifer and the media after portifino or her leaving her own premier to head across town to sit with her BF? What about all the crap she threw at CC and the XF for the lack of women writers, only to go home at night with a man who wrote and created a show she plans to star in. What the actual f*ck? Let’s not even talk about her plays and those writers and directors or the way she conveniently brings up ‘being’ with women in the same breath as saying she activity heterosexual. Talk about playing both sides of the fence. She seems to bend the way the wind blows and disregards her own advice and criticisms when it suits her or her pocketbook.
So yes anon, disappointed is a fair word to describe your feelings and before I catch hate, this has nothing to do with David or Peter.

Y’all are doing the most. She has always been petite. Like it’s not that serious. 🙄🙄🙄
Gillian is getting so thin it’s unhealthy. Even the comments on her last IG post are all about how sick she looks. This is sad af
Well, it’s been almost 2 years since every time she appears somewhere, she’s thinier than the previous time. At least, she looks happy again and in a better place than a few months ago, so there’s that. 🤷🏽‍♀️
Plus, if we’re being honest, the angle of the picture doesn’t suit her well. The second last pic she posted is way better!

In Another Life 2/7
by: mldrgrl Rating: PG-13 (at most) Summary: See Chapter 1
It was almost two months before another case would bring Scully back into Mulder’s life.  He wasn’t disappointed not to have a body to bring to her for her consideration, but he was disappointed that he couldn’t think up a reasonable excuse to drop in on her again.
Detective Thomas Thompson of the Atlantic City PD and Mulder had rubbed shoulders before back in Mulder’s Golden Boy days.  When the body of a homeless man was found by a family on a weekend camping trip, he thought nothing of it, until he saw the body.  That’s when he called his contact at the FBI and in turn, Mulder hit 3 on his speed dial.  She picked up on the fourth ring.
“Dana Scully.”
“How’s the patriarchy looking today, Scully?”
“Cloudy with a chance of patronizing.”
“Sorry to hear that.”
“It’s nice to hear from you again.”
“Is it?”  Mulder couldn’t help but smile a little at the thought that she was pleased he had called.

“It was just like, we were acting like it was, like, a gross carnal coupling, you know? It was a joke for the crew and for us. The actual kissing, that was never a part of the movie, so we never would have shot that, no. The only time we did that was as a joke. Gillian and I did it to our liking, and then I said, you know, ‘Let’s do one where we’re up against the wall here.’ But that was never- there was never any thought - we were outside of the camera’s view actually at that point, so that’s not even on film.” — David Duchovny
“It wasn’t planned, no. Just goofing around!” — Gillian Anderson
“I can tell you what’s not in the film is a blast. After we did six or seven takes, I said, ‘Cut, print. Got it. Thank you very much.’ They said, ‘No, we’d like to go one more time.’ So they started the scene. And they got right into the drama, coming closer and closer. And then tongues came out. And then they slapped up against the wall. She drove him up against the wall. Oh, it was fabulous. And they did it again, because the cameraman goofed.” — Rob Bowman

🙌🙌🙌🙌
I am so sick and tired of Gillian Anderson being told that she needs to sit down and shut up because she is ‘insulting her employers’ by ‘slamming’ and ‘ripping’ them for stating facts.
The X-Files deserve better.
Fans deserve better.
Women deserve better.
And Gillian fucking Anderson deserves better.
“Chris Carter gave Gillian Anderson her start. She needs to be grateful!” You’re right. He did take a chance with her. Here are some other things that Chris, Fox and Co did to her during her time on TXF (this is by no means a complete list):
Note: I’m not placing a cut in this because it deserves to be seen in it’s entirety. I’m not hiding the facts under a cut where they can easily dismissed.
FACT: She was paid less than David initially because he had more experience. David was known for simulating passionate sex in “Red Shoe Diaries”, and playing a transgender woman on “Twin Peaks”. Even today, his portrayal of Denise is termed ‘cross-dresser’, ‘drag’ even ‘transvestite’. All offensive terms, no doubt, but can you imagine what the backlash was in the 90′s? What if Gillian had been known for simulating sex on screen, or playing a trans man (in a time when it very-well could have meant career suicide even for David, unfortunately)? Would she have been offered the role as Dana Scully?
“But the real problem, Anderson says, the story that wasn’t told - at least, not until she chose to reveal it - was that Duchovny was earning the traditional male salary. ‘I was making half of what my co-star was for the first few years. It was OK at the beginning’ - he was an experienced actor, she was not - ‘but then it became not OK’… She renegotiated her contract for equal pay. But the price was that she had to sign up for more years - which explains, she says, why Duchovny was able to quit before she.” (x)
FACT: She was she wasn’t attractive enough for the part. They wanted blonde and leggy. She was small and petite. She wasn’t well-endowed enough. (x)
FACT: She was told to wear tighter clothing for second audition. Watch the interview.
FACT: She was forced to cover her mole and change her appearance.
“Anderson has a tiny mole, just above her lip. It is pretty and provocative and - in a face that is beautiful and, like all beauty, has about it a transparency - is a kind of tabula rasa: the mole gives her definition. Terence Davies, directing her as Lily [Blart], understood its power: Lily is different, Lily has marks of distinction. The X-Files people, perhaps, also understood it because they made her cover it up.
So, Anderson asks [David, who interviewed her]: Give it to me. I’m not frightened of you. He chooses something small, something that is part of her, that can’t be separated from the self. ‘You should not cover up your mole,’ [David] says. ‘You should have refused in the beginning. For both Scully and Gillian, the mole is fine. Oh, and it’s a beauty mark. It doesn’t have hair growing out of it, does it?’” (x)
FACT: She was told to walk behind her male costar so as not to upstage him.
“Was it sexism? Maybe. It’s like the way we were directed by the studios, I was to walk behind him, never side by side. I mean, that is f—ing priceless when I think about it now. When we would get out the car and walk towards the house I would have to be behind him, even though I had equal dialogue.’” (x) (x)
Tumblr media
FACT: Like so many women, Gillian Anderson feared losing her job when she became pregnant soon after accepting a job. (Side note: thank god she had been married…can you imagine the outcry if she was an unwedded mother who got herself knocked up a year into a show in 1994? *cue gasp*) She returned to work 10 days after major surgery, penance for having put them through the drama of her pregnancy…never mind that it eventually led to some of the best storytelling on television.
In “The Complete X-Files” book, Gillian recounts telling producers about her pregnancy and calling Bob Goodwin (Sheila Larkin’s husband) to tell him she was pregnant and immediately breaking into tears. Gillian said, “The first thing he said to me was, ‘I love babies’, which was really good for me to hear because the onslaught that I then got from people who were going, ‘Oh my god you’re going to ruin the series!’ And rightly so. It was a pretty cheeky thing at that particular time.”
“I did film very soon after my first child, 10 days, after a c-section, five days after coming home from the hospital. It seems crazy but at the time I thought, “OK this is my penance for having got pregnant when they had invested so much in the show and me”.
FACT: When she won the Emmy in 1997, she forgot to include CC and DD names in her acceptance speech and received a shit-ton of flak for it…So she took out an entire page ad to rectify the situation, learning that she had to “play by the rules.” (x) <— this article does a nice job of ripping into her.
(x)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
FACT: Fox told her she wouldn’t get FAIR PAY unless she signed on for a season 9. (x)
Tumblr media
FACT: Even after fighting for pay equity in the 90s, she was STILL offered HALF of his pay in 2015. (x)
(x)
Tumblr media
FACT: The X-Files has consistently given material far beneath her acting ability. Do I really need to cite sources here? Alien DNA. That is all.
FACT: Can we talk about the fucking wig?
It’s not really the fault of anyone that she had to wear the wig. It was a mutual decision even if it looked shitty. Given that, wearing the wig set Gillian up for immense criticism from people around the world because of how it altered the appearance of her face.
Tumblr media
“‘The aliens clearly implanted a lot of Botox in Scully’s face,’  wrote one commentator on the social networking site Twitter.
‘Loving the return of X-Files, even if Scully physically can’t move her face,’ said another. ‘Is she happy, sad, nostalgic? Who knows?’” (x)
FACT: For a role in which she spent 9 years of her life, poured her heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears, and for which she has had to constantly fight to remain on equal standing with her male counterpart, she has been nominated for 58 awards as Dana Scully, winning 15 times, including 2 SAG awards, 1 Emmy and 1 GG.
“Although Anderson was the one of the two to win an Emmy for her performance on the show, she was only 24 years of age when she auditioned for The X-Files. She had minimal work experience in showbiz, whereas Duchovny already had a decent resume. It’s a lucky thing that Anderson and Duchovny clicked enough to win her the part. The dynamic between Mulder and Scully is what made the show, but Anderson is responsible for turning Scully into a female character that hadn’t really been seen on television before.” (x)
Gillian Anderson owes Fox nothing. Gillian Anderson owes Chris Carter nothing.   The loyalty she gives them is admirable considering the horse shit they put her through, and continue to put her through. Dana Scully will forever be a part of Gillian Anderson because it is the role that made her a superstar. But can we stop acting as if she has ripped off their balls and grossly disrespected her employers? If Fox and Co want to be offended by her comments, then let them. She has done nothing wrong. She has withstood 25 years of misogynistic and sexist standards, so the fact that she is back to film another season is HIGHLY commendable.
Gillian Anderson is using her celebrity, class, clout and privilege to bring awareness to the sexist standards in Hollywood. If you’re not willing to stand up and fight alongside her, then the least you can do is respect what she’s doing. Because she’s not just doing it for herself – she’s doing it for all of us.

Wrong and wrong
i think that gillian was angry at journalist's words, bc she thinks that her decision wasn't a reason FOX doesn't want to do more xf, which is ridiculous IMO. gillian anderson isn't a f*cking queen!
Well, she should pay more attention to her own press, tbh. FOX didn’t cancel the show (though the bad rantings could be a good reason), they just don’t have plans doing it without Gillian, which, actually, they already said once in January. So technically, that was the main reason for FOX and I really don’t understand why she called out Michael Ausiello for his words. Did he say anything that wasn’t true?
She has been vocal about her being done over and over again and no, it wasn’t journalists’ fault because she has been vocal about in even on her own twitter. And people are not idiots. They can read, they can listen and they can make notes afterwards. And this is not only about her being done but that constant criticism, for example, calling out (not literally but still) Chris for the last episode or also calling him out for not employing women thought they’d already been included in the xfiles crew. Had she asked Chris of it before she called him out on twitter which only increased the hate toward him? Obviously not. But she can complain that he didn’t hear her voice while doing MS IV? So she doesn’t have to respect people she works with but she wants the same from them?  I just don’t get it. What an actress is calling out and constantly bitching on a show that she is currently working on?
And so we all could see how she was done and hated xfiles and when FOX said they had no plans for season 12, it wasn’t very difficult to conclude that the main reason was Gillian. They did no promotion which, for reasons known only to them, was their choice. So they have to consider that ratings will go down; they haven’t been doing their business since yesterday. And so maybe that would not factor on their decision at all. Also, I am pretty sure they heard about the campaign “no xfiles without Scully“, so they just did as fans wanted…
I strongly believe we are responsible for our own words and actions, and that also includes Gillian Anderson. And this is not the first time the things she is doing or saying come back and bite her in the ass. I wish she could finally understand that. I wish her PR could care more to notice it either. Can she really do what the fuck she wants and not suffer the consequences?

“David and I become really good friends over the years. We become closer over the years. At the end of the day, we realized that we were probably the only two people who were ever going to have the experience that we had together. So, there was something special in all of that to celebrate and to respect and to honor. It helped us to slow down and lean in to the friendship.”

X-Files Positivity Post :)
I think that I’ve been dwelling a big too much on the negatives of S10 & S11, particularly the finale so I decided to put together a post with some of the amazing things we got from the revival….feel free to add to it!
1. Season 10 wasn’t fantastic but “Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster” alone was totally worth bringing the show back for - what an amazing episode!
2. Season 10 press & interviews. I can’t describe how great this was with words so….
Tumblr media
3. Mitch/Skinner finally got his name in the credits, a bigger role and a backstory in S11 👍LOVE the Skinman!
4. “This” gave us some of the best Mulder/Scully interactions since early seasons imo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. We kinda got a sex scene? I mean we came as close as we’re ever going to get so it will have to do! But THANK YOU DAVID DUCHOVNY for that final scene…
Tumblr media
6. We finally got someone with the balls to take on the William story with “Ghouli”. Kudos Jim Wong, great job!
7. Not my favourite Darin Morgan episode but still a lot of great moments from “The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat” - Mulder and Scullys “date night” plans, ‘Skulls’ is now canon, Mulder’s sasquatch suit, Leprechaun Taint, the aliens speech, Mulders tantrum and Skinners line as Reggie is taken away 👍😂
8. S11 gave us some very satisfying heart to heart conversations between Mulder and Scully, most notable in “Ghouli” and “Nothing Lasts Forever”
9. Mr Chuckle Teeth 👀creepy af!!! Loved this episode, vintage XF
10. David and Gillian did an AMAZING job with their characters in season 11. Seriously some of their best work, especially in “Ghouli” for Gillian and “MyStruggle IV” for David WOW!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
11. We got the X-Files fandom back together for this revival and as a result we have some amazing fan art and fan fiction, not to mention some great new friendships! :)
