I get so angry hearing and reading about what's happening in Palestine right now. I don't even know what to do and it all feels hopeless 😔

The situation around Sheikh Jarrah should make everyone angry. For those of you who might not know what’ going on here’s a brief breakdown:

Indigenous Palestinian residents of Sheikh Jarrah, for a very long time, have been fighting lengthy legal battles in Israeli courts against eviction orders which aim to replace these indigenous people with illegal Israeli settlers. 

On May 7th, the illegal Israeli settlers along with courts (an apparatus of Israel’s apartheid regime) have started a campaign to illegally take over the home’s of Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah. These families were given until today (May 10th, 2021) to “reach an agreement” with the occupiers. This obviously prompted protests. The IDF has also brutally responded to these protests. Now the world is watching and global protests have started happening.

Some important things to note:

-Sheikh Jarrah belongs to the Palestinian families. It is part of the occupied Palestinian territory, and therefore any Israeli settler presence in it amounts to a war crime under international law. 

-There has been a mountain of UN Security Council resolutions demanding that Israel withdraw from East Jerusalem which Israel continues to ignore.

-This is ethnic cleansing

I know you feel hopeless but here’s what we can do:

-Support BDS (Boycott, Divestments, Sanctions) movements (What”s BDS?) Boycott Israeli products from their colonial settlements

-Understand whats happening in Palestine and the crimes of apartheid/persecution being committed by Israel. (Check out this great report by HRW on the situation) After getting an understanding. SPREAD AWARENESS. Especially in the US. This is key to combatting Evangelical propaganda and Israeli lobbyists. Do this through social media.

-Contact your local reps and pressure them to stop giving Israel military funding or any form of financial support. Fight against zionist lobbyists such as AIPAC or Christians United for Israel.

-Donate if you can. Here’s a few links. If you can add more (reputable) donation links to this, I ask that you please do.

This is a start and we can honestly make change happen. I personally believe social media outrage coupled with supporting the BDS movement is a great way for you to help even by sitting at home.

One of my favorite fics, “Arranged” on AO3 by obiwrites just ended and I think I might cryyyyyyy 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

It was such a ride from beginning to end and it was FANTASTIC!! The epilogue chapter nearly made me cry because Hobi and MC were so cute and got their family my heart 🥺. I loved everything about this fic and especially the personalities of the characters they were all so different and SO funny it was written so well. And Hobi and MC’s relationship was so fun to watch play out and I felt for them through everything I really did love them together. I probably can’t put my thoughts about it together well enough cause it’s late but it’s so good and EVERYONE should read it.

AND I managed to make the coolest friend out of it !! @jinpanman and I met through a mutual love of this fic and every time a chapter dropped we’d scream about it together and talking to her about this fic and even more was one of the best things that has happened to me this year. Having someone to scream about fic ideas and Arranged and just general fics has been so fun and I’m so glad I reached out and made a wonderful friend like you Mai!! 💖

Anyway this got really off topic because the ending of Arranged made me really mushy but I can’t wait til next month and BOUND !!!!! I love the relationship between Yoongi and his wife and I know their fic is going to be so good!!!

Important Announcement!!

So I’ve had this blog for a few years and for a while now I’ve really wanted some change because I’ve felt so stuck. I’ve really thought hard about it and have talked about it with friends for a while and so I decided to move blogs. 

I’m moving to a new blog for writing and turning this blog into my fic rec blog! 

I read so many fics on here and I didn’t want this blog to go to waste so why not use it to give others some visibility! And by doing this I get to start from scratch on my new writing blog as well. 

I’m giving up on a lot of the writings I had on here and probably deleting my masterlist from here as well but don’t be alarmed friends I’m moving CAUGHT to my new blog but I’m also going to be rewriting it because its been so long since I’ve wrote that fic but I still love it dearly. 

All these changes won’t happen quite yet and I wanted to wait to unveil my new blog when I have actually written something for it, but I have some fantastic fics I’ve read on here and I wanted to finally change this blog up so thats why I wanted to do it early.

it’s been 4 years now since i joined this bangtan sonyeondan-ish. and it has been such a ride! still the best birthday gift i have ever given myself. i’ve had this tumblr basically since the day i became an army. and truly, what a way to document how quickly and easily i have fallen for bts. 

each year i find myself surrounded with new people from all different platforms and this year, it seems i have found my people on tumblr. i’ve had the absolute privilege to meet and befriend so so many wonderful people here on tumblr. i truly never thought i’d find a friend here lol. back when i was still @/bigbangtansonyeondan, i simply liked and reblogged posts i saw and occasionally camped out in writers ask boxes and then yeeted away from this app. but then by some stroke of luck, i have now become surrounded by absolute sweethearts. and i am so so grateful to all of you :”( so this is just one smol love letter to you this november morn’.

The children gathered around you jump with excitement as your colleague, Hoseok, prepares for their next activity. He claps his hands, drawing the attention of your students whose loud chatter lowers to a hum, albeit still excited. The students flock to him like little ducklings to their mama and you giggle at the sight. He has such a natural chemistry with children and choosing a life as an educator fits him so well. Your eyes wander to where Hoseok is situated in front of the class. His face is scrunched in a goofy smile causing his glasses to slip down his nose. You absently think that you want to walk over to fix it.

The herbal tea he brought you before class warms your hands as you stand in the back to observe. The steam from the cup brings out a lovely smell of peppermint which you inhale happily. Despite being a strong advocate for coffee and knowing nothing about tea, he somehow knew the exact type of tea you liked to drink. You take a long sip and listen to him entice the children with one last hour of fun before they have to go home.

You enjoy your job as an after school teacher and you especially love your students, but sometimes there are days when you’re scrambling to come up with an activity hours before classes begin. It’s tiring to always stay on your toes in order to meet the needs of your students (which change at the switch of a light every day!) but it’s a welcome weight in your life. You’re thankful that you don’t have to do it all on your own. Every other week you collaborate with other teachers at the school to foster friendship and camaraderie outside of your student’s usual age range. Today your class is combined with Hoseok’s, and they are entirely too eager to see their favorite Mr. Hobi!

“Okay kids! Today we’re gonna make the ground really pretty for everyone to see tomorrow! What do you say?”

They all cheer and he directs them to stand in two orderly lines in front of either of you while he hands you a bag filled with chalk sticks of varying colors. You raise your brows in curiosity.

“Last minute decision?” you quip in faux conspiracy.

He scoffs and hands a chalk piece to the next student in line.

“Yes. But no one needs to know that okay?”

You both laugh in complete understanding of the teacher struggles. Oh the simple life of a child; so easily amused by a little piece of chalk. He’s lucky the students all love him. If it were anyone else, there would be at least a handful of students complaining about the activity.

“Ms. Y/N, come look!”

One student pulls you away from your bad attempt at a portrait of Grumpy Cat, the greatest cat to have lived. You walk over her and she points out something she drew on the cement.

“Look! It’s you and Mr. Hobi!” she exclaims in excitement while jumping up and down.

Sure enough there are two clumsily drawn stick figures. You assume the one with glasses is Hoseok since he’s donned a pair of round glasses today which go well with his red flannel. You applaud her artwork, thanking her for drawing you so nicely, when another student comes up and squints at their peer’s drawing.

“That looks like Mr. Hobi and his girlfriend!” they say.

“No! That’s not his girlfriend. That’s Ms. Y/N!” she stomps in defiance.
