When the young Rougeau Brothers wrestled for their father, Jacques Senior, up in Montreal, they played the lovable, heroic young Babyfaces, always being double-crossed and beaten down by filthy Canadian lumberjacks and other assorted brutes.

The Rougeau Boys were like the Canadian version of the von Erichs down in Texas -- the beloved handsome Boys Next Door trying to keep law and order in the region they represent. This was their best gimmick.

When they came to the United States, they were cast as smarmy, devious Dickhead Foreigners who sort of made fun of our redneck ways, waving miniature American flags around with cheesy smirks. I still enjoyed their bodies and their wrestling moves, but they'd lost that lovable, sincere quality, so I wasn't quite as obsessed with them.

My man Roderick Strong had to teach his old pal and stable-mate Kyle O'Reilly some respect at AEW Dynasty on Sunday, April 21st. Check out what Roddy said to his opponent before the match:

"Kyle, your comeback was sweet, and I swear to you, I smiled, and I cried because I was so happy to have you back. But I want you to know this. When we step into the ring, I am gonna break you, and I am gonna end you forever.”

Yikes. That's hot talk. Remind me to always respect Roderick Strong and consent to anything he asks of me.

The audience was solidly behind Kyle O'Reilly, but I've been into Roderick Strong, the Messiah of the Backbreaker, since his earliest days in Ring of Honor. I mean, how could I not love a wrestler who claims the Backbreaker as his signature move?!

I believe I first blogged about Roderick in July 2005 when I recapped a match where he punished Jamie Noble (another long-time ROH Man-Crush). At that time 19 years ago, I referred to Roderick as a "cocky kid" but nowadays he is all hard-ass veteran, willing to beat some respect into the younger generation.

My tribute to Paul Roma continues with this edited video depicting the stud's utter dominance over hunky jobber, Davey Rich. The Bearhug by Buddy Rose was of the sexiest collages in my old "Spotlight on Paul Roma" gallery, posted to my old Wrestling Arsenal website 20 years ago. I posted these images to a fanboy gallery in honor of "Pretty" Paul Roma on my old Wrestling Arsenal website 20 years ago this week. I had a big gay crush on Roma for decades (or at least, I got off on many of his matches if that counts as a crush.) What a hunk!

Revisiting this old gallery, I'm pleased with my images and my old captions. I could really write 'em back in the day!

As more and more people bought televisions in the 60s, the more opportunities they had to watch some pro wrestling action in the privacy of their own homes. Often married men, they'd do anything to get their wives out of the house for a few hours while the wrestling was on. Giving them money to go to the hairdressers etc. Neighbours who were friends would convince their wives to go to the mall together. "Take your time ladies, we're just gonna watch the game and have a few beers"

Neighbours, work colleagues, friends from church... These men, sometimes in groups, once the coast was clear, would put on the wrestling gear they'd bought from the local sports shops (usually singlets) or mail order from ads in the back of wrestling magazines, and watch some rasslin. They might sit together, beer in one hand, cock in the other, watching. Maybe suck each other off a bit. They would be so insanely horny from watching the wrestling on tv that they would then wrestle each other, copying the moves they'd just watched. Basements and living rooms all around the world, when wrestling was broadcast, would have grown men wrestling each other. And often fucking each other too. They would have to hide all the cuts and bruises from their wives.

All week these men would obsess over the next time they could do it all again.
