       His honesty does not bother her, honesty is something she is used to. Even if it is not something she always wants. Young as she is, a princess in standing, she had never been coddled. At most things explained in more simple terms so she could fully understand. “I know,” she muttered as she kicked a small rock, watching it roll away. It was always the reason for why she was left behind, that she was too small, too young to keep up on her own. Sometimes Roman or Evander would let her ride with them, but today she was not so lucky.

        But Remus too was left behind. She didn’t think why he wouldn’t be invited, Roman and her cousins liked him well enough. Nor could she think of a reason for why he wouldn’t want to go. But then, something about her brother was, well, different. A certain sadness, a heaviness similar to one she knew her father carried. But she didn’t want to ask him about it, not now anyways.

        Her attention then turned back to her little pony. “I didn’t name him,” she pointed out, almost bitterly, like she was robbed of the chance. She reached out to pat his neck. “He bosses all the other horses around, so he gets put out with the goats.” She can’t help but giggle and like spring snow her bitterness melts. “And his favorite treats are peppermints.” She reached into the pocket of her coat to retrieve one, offering it to her brother for him to give to the pony.

he was not used to this domestic lifestyle. not anymore. things were different here. there was peace, so much peace and it unnerved him for some reason. this he was not used to. being surrounded by an adoring family full of laughter [ your own family is nothing but blood red and wails of your mother. ] it made him tense. but with little amelia, beloved sister in his eyes, he cannot help the smile that crossed his lips. gloved hand outstretched to rest 'pon her shoulder, petting her once, twice with a soft hum in his throat.

❝ that is the way of life, i fear. ❞ truthful remus, honest to a ruthless fault. never one to really interact with children. not well. he had made his own cousins weep on occasion simply for being too brutally honest. having to halt and think over words carefully to avoid making amelia cry more, lest he would be scolded and ashamed of himself for making her so upset. ❝ there will be times in the future when you all shall ride together. fret not, little one. those days will come. ❞ dark hues befall the girl at his side, steadily approaching the pony she so clung to. strange beasts, he knew. but pretty in their own ways. ❝ this one is pretty. snowball . . . a fitting name. ❞ he is trying to advert her sorrows now.

      She knew she was rather lucky, that fact she and Roman got along as well as they did. Outside of the occasional bickering, they rarely argued, feelings were rarely hurt, and whenever they were amends were quickly made. Her mother did not speak to any of her siblings, and while he still had a relationship with his sister, as far as Amelia knew, her father hadn’t spoken to her uncle since her cousin’s death. But all of it was something she could only really ever see rather than understand. While she and her cousin Mya had never been exactly close, or as close as Amelia had always wanted, she never thought them in competition with each other. But she had been so young then, so she did not know how much truth her memories held. “All families are complicated in one way or another,” she noted lightly. The princess then offered Elain a warm smile. “But I’m glad things are getting better for you and your sisters, even if it is a slower process it’s better than the alternative. Which is never fun for anyone involved, speaking from experience.”

"they are...remarkable, both of them, though they're so very different. feyre loves to paint, and she sees the world in so much light and color, even when it's dark and cold. she thinks she doesn't, but...she painted decorations for our house even when it didn't deserve them, just like she always took care of us when we never deserved her." there is a sad little shame in the twist of her mouth as she thinks of the past, one she has been trying to redeem. "and nesta...nesta is fierce and proud and strong. and yet, for all of that, she loves to dance and read - - - to lose herself in stories. we haven't always been close," she admits, "but we're getting better, now."
