Sometimes I start to let myself drown in my suspicion that I am not okay and have never been okay and never will be okay, which is my fault because I haven't taken enough care of myself and it is too late, and then I consider the basket of pansies that somehow survived the last 6+ months despite me giving up on watering them and leaving them in a dark corner of my porch somewhere they shouldn't even have met much rain, and I look at how big and bold and brilliantly purple they are again after a quiet winter where I believed they'd died and I just didn't have the energy to move the wasted soil to the trash can, and I remember the feeling of delighted surprise as I hung the basket on the shepherd's hook again come spring and I think hmm, alright, perhaps there is restoration with the thaw after all.

haha bro you fell for my epic prank where i used my body to shield you from a fatal injury so that i could collapse into your arms and be held by you as you push my hair out of my eyes and tell me i'm going to be okay and to just hold on in a panicked voice while i laugh because i'm delirious from blood loss and tell you not to cry, even though we are both very much crying. you got totally tricked dude.

tommy saw his brother die the day sarah did. he said “just because life stopped for you doesn’t mean it has to stop for me.” maria doesn’t trust joel (because of stories that tommy told her), and makes it clear to ellie. because the joel that tommy left in boston? he wasn’t doing great. he was still making bad choices, the tough choices. to survive, but not do much else. but this joel? this joel has spent months on the road with a young, hopeful girl. a girl that wormed her way into his heart and made him care again. and this soft look tommy gives joel after joel chooses to go w ellie is a man finally seeing a glimpse of his brother again
