Vertical Configuration
On piano playing technique, one fundamental aspect must be present at all times: that the vertical action comes from the phalanges activating up and down.
It is of extreme ease when, in the intent of activating the smallest and easiest limb (which should be a very simple sensation) we instead activate other parts, making more muscular effort on the elbow.
This, in a sense, comes from expectation: on expecting a certain feelin at the bottom of the keys, it’s possible that this expectation contains a muscle that is not only fingers, but it could be the rising of the wrist, or the elbows, and this raising of the wrist or elbows configures the way in which muscles act at the expectation or a sensation.
This is vertical configuration. Piano technique is based off sensations, and these sensations determine the way we will ultimately move. And just as there are many planets in the solar system, ultimately only one planet has the capacity to attain life: because the configuration of its mass, the gravity, the pressure and its elements are predetermining a set of conditions that make it easy to develop organisms that are able to self replicate.
This is the same for any and every single one of human professions: the configuration of our habilities are put in there for us to feel that we have, intuitively, the right ways that converge together just the right amount at the right amount of times, so the ability can seem effortless and can produce in society a greater good.
It depends on us to be able to imagine what it’s like or what it would be like if the configuration was different. If I felt am attack differently. If I tried to alter the force of gravity in which it acts, if we were to strive, being maybe on an arid place where there are no crops growing, if we were to strive towards another place in which life can prolifetate with ease. Because, if we remain in our area without striving through a process of differentiation, life could proliferate, but you wouldn’t know what it is like to live near a river, where the waters flow and where the birds sing, and where you can easily build a city as big a Rome. this is the easiness we should all strive for introspeftively. By looking for different things, we can come to terms with ways to make great things without it being fatuosly effortful, or insufferably difficult. it is here, on this realization that we have seen life in a million different angles, and trasversed through many different planets, that we can finally say that we know that in a planet called the planet Earth, there is a way for intelligence to form, and it maybe isn’t in the place in which I was born, where intelligence didn’t easily proliferate.
We can do this by the art of observing, categorizing, and building, one step at a time. By being able to evaluate ourselves, and see how we are configured: and similar to an instrument that eventually is tuned to perfection, so beautiful music can be played, we should know that we are also prone to be out of tune, be it whatever we are doing, and that the music of our words and the habilities of our ways to make friends can sound horrible if we don’t know how to put the right frequencies together. In doing this, we realize the art of attuning to the natural imperfections that arise with time, and we realize that all we need to do is observe, and know exactly how it should be configured, so the things that we want, and the music that we seek, happens naturally as a gift of the divine, and the graciousness of it all attunes merely to the quality of know how to hear, see, watch, and be, so we are free from the suffering of not knowing that there might be better things, and how these things might sound like, because we lack imagination, and because we aren’t attuned to how its being sensed, heard, and what we should expect it to hear or sense instead, in case it doesn’t work out best in the current way.
