This is something that we should pay attention to as the product that you are selling may not sell well, as you went ahead and sold it to the wrong group of people. Keeping this in mind will later help in marketing my projects to others .

The people that view and support your content is definitely important within the creative industry. Our work is mostly centered around whether people like it or not. Fans absolutely play a big role in our future career. We’re practically doing it for them, but we got to remember that we shouldn’t always do whatever they like.

Week 10 Lesson: The Fans
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fan, not to be confused with the handy home appliance that cools down the general area, is a person that either respects your content and work to some degree, enjoy your content greatly, or very rarely completely obsessed little demons that love all your work, no matter the quality or even you as a person unconditionally and want to be in your vicinity at all times. This can be a good or bad thing depending on the person’s taste. Besides is having legions of overly obsessed fangirls who own hundreds of dollars of you merchandise, soley talk about you, pass out if they spot you in person and even enter heated hour long debates someone negative talks about you.
Fans can be either random people or even your friends/peers. Having many fans has many benefits. starting with the fact that they can support you through financial troubles with crowdfunding sites like kick-starter or patreon and work as reliable customers.
Fan approval can also lead to fan response. Providing feedback on ways in what to improve in or avoid completely.
In projects that are provided over time the fans may have small influence on how it plays out. For example retconning a thought to be long dead character back to life (Darth Maul from was supposed to be a one time character for the Phantom Menace only to be bought back years later in the Clone Wars Animated Series because the fanbase loved him that much).

Nice! I completely agree with you. People that are working in the creative industry should use the constructive criticism to their advantage. They can improve their works with the different opinions they are given. It’s good to see that you are now able to give a more thorough look and be able to give a opinion yourself.
BLOG 3 Week 11 Critics, Reviewers & Your Art
Tumblr media
Critiquing and reviewing have always been important when it comes to business for many years and is very crucial if you want to be known and amazed by the public.
It is important that everyone must take all criticism/ feedback in order to create even better works in the future and to keep yourself open-minded in everyone’s different thoughts and opinions and take a glimpse of how they view your work and perhaps they may learn something new, those who refuse to accept criticism or takes it as an insult will not be able to grow and learn unless they have a valid reason of why their work looks the way it is, don’t be that person.
An example as such is when someone says to the chef that the chicken is uncooked but the chef refuses to acknowledge their critiques and claims that’s just how they cook.
In the 11th week of class, we did an interesting experiment of students handing in their personal or school works anonymously and receive criticism from the class, whether their works were not in your criteria you were still allowed to throw whatever you had at them – just so long as it was not hateful.
I knew everyone had different opinions but I never experienced witness until of this week, it helped me somewhat to say my own opinions to the shown work as I’m normally someone who just gives a thumbs up and make the person feel good about themselves. When showing my work, I received criticism of course and despite some students not being on the artistic side, their critiques actually pointed out flaws that I wasn’t even aware of thus helping me learn and grow for better works in the future. I was quite surprised that the animation students hardly spoke up to criticise.

Blog 3 Asking fans for help
Tumblr media
("Types Of Fans | Aysh Banaysh ☀", 2018)
Coming into class this week the lecturer had us talk about our thoughts about people asking their fans for help. Of course there are many opinions related to this as a lot of people agrees and disagrees with this method. Some creators take it to far with how much help they ask for like Amanda Palmer. This lady is the one that we talked about during class. She at first asked around for help like if her group may be able to stay at someone's house and stuff like that. But as she got bigger She is still doing it which led to a lot of people not liking what she stands for. And there’s a lot of people actually like what she does and supports her.
So the whole asking for fans for help thing is an okay from me, but depending on how far you actually take it. Like creators that are starting out tend to look at crowdfunding to get equipment they want, to improve their works. Fans would try their best to support them and raise enough funds to give to the creator. Some big creators also ask fans to help fund for a good cause. There are many things that you can ask your fans to help you with, but some taking it too far like asking for food, staying at other people’s houses, ect.
Taking a look at this crowdfunding seems like a good idea to start of with to get what you need to start out on making what you want, but as you get bigger more and more people will start to look at what you do and judge whether what you’re doing is right or wrong. I may try crowdfunding out maybe in a close future, but as I get big I may not do so.

Blog 2 Copyright
Tumblr media
("Copyright - YouTube", 2018) This week during class we talked about copyright, about what it does and benefits of it. People that have found some nice art work, photo, ect, and want to use it either for their website, posts, and so on. It would be best if you are able to give a direct link or mention who the creator of the work is. Not doing so the creator themselves (if it is under the copyright law) can fine you and do other things if aren’t careful. If you do mention where you got it and the creator, it will credit them and if people like what they have done, it allows them to be noticed more with others looking them up and potentially supporting them.
I myself don’t have any works up for others to potentially use as of now, but I have seen a lot of artists not happy that their works being used without their consent and they’re not being credited. Since it is their own work I can see why they may not be happy with the fact that others can take it and do with what they want with it. And this is where the copyright law comes in to help creators to keep their work from being possibly stolen. Creators also have the choice to approve or deny derivative work that others have made. So with the copyright law your works are mostly safe from others to steal.
For now since I’ve only recently started my online profile I don’t have many people that have noticed me so my works can be used most of the times by others. I would like it if they are able to give credit to me though if they were to use my arts and link it back to me if possible so I can get noticed.

Blog 1 Social Media Influences
In the first few weeks of class there was a topic that we were talking about which was the influences that social media has on others. There seems to be upsides and downsides in having a influence online for creative people and non creative people. At the start of your profile, most people seem to get supportive comments on what they are doing and compliments or constructive criticism to help with what they are uploading if it can be. Like an artist that want to share their works for others to see. But progressing through and getting much more attention, there seems to be a lot of different opinions for you works now. Like some may compliment, some may just outright talk about how they don’t like your work and so on.
Tumblr media
("Why academics should NOT make time for social media", 2018)
Social media helps in people developing a public image which allows them in sharing their works around. Being able to promote yourself online can lead to others noticing your projects that you have done which leads to potential jobs for the people in the creative media. With actual companies that enjoy your work they’ll be keeping an eye out for your creations and if they like you enough they may ask you to do some things for them or even hire you. These online social sites benefits most or even all people that are working the creative industry, as we all who are working in it would want others to notice the work we have done.
Being in the creative industry myself, I would want to be able to start getting more and more noticed by others. Sharing my works around and having people give me constructive criticism, and so on. Well the actual option now is to actually start posting for others to actually notice me, but I’ll do that when I have time.
