Visual Analysis is the backbone of art, It takes a bit of practice, but once you’ve mastered the skills, it can help you to analyze any works of art you come across.  It will even help you to understand why things you see every day -- ads in magazines, billboards.
To perform a visual analysis, you first need to know the basic visual elements, also called formal elements, that compose all images.  Each time you encounter at a work of art, first look for these elements.
A person can look at he gestalt theory to interrupt analysis. This is  Gestalt is a psychology term which means "unified whole".  These theories to describe how people tend to organize pictures or parts of pictures into groups or wholes. l

This meme is an example of stereotyping again. This meme is meant to be funny but it is still stereotyping against African-Americans.

Here's an idea for the Book to critique something
I will be using the idea of stereotyping took a teak the movie Harold and Kumar. This movie is about to Arabian men who live in America who constantly get harassed and thought badly of because of their heritage. During One movie they get sent to Guantánamo Bay because they tried to get onto an airplane and one guy started making bomb jokes. There's also other stereotyping in the movie. After they escape Guantánamo Bay they get on a raft with some Cubans and make it to Florida. From there they go to Georgia where they met by the KKK and start to party with them. Once they are found out they start to make a run for it and end up getting in a car with another person. This is just examples from the book about how medias interpret other minorities just to get a laugh from some people.

Ch 4 visual stereotypes
Pictures and images can be interpreted in many different ways by a certain persons background.pictures affective you were emotionally more than words do alone stereotypes often become perceptions that I’ve waited facts that can be misleading or even not true. Many people can be victims a visual stereotyping. Some of these groups include children, older people, people with disabilities, minorities, and pretty much any group that you can think of. The book states that almost any group that we can think of has been a target of prejudice and discrimination at some point in time. An example of visual stereotyping is Arabian. Many movies and visual pictures have pretrade them as being terrorists where people they can hurt you. In the minds of children growing up and of this generation this has left a mark as that's all they can be and that's what they do. This is a problem with visual stereotypes because it will never get any change.

Com 237 ch 3
"Direct a viewers eyes toward or away from a graphic element " (ch 3.p45) this this "can mean a number things but to me it just means that the illustrator can make you look at something or look away. This can be used in a few different ways, if the illustrator wants to focus on a certain point of the picture then they could use brighter colors Or even different forms of illustration to bring the focus to that point. For example a picture could be of three starving children and the illustrator could bring the focus of that to an empty plate that is sitting in front of them

Chapter 1 Response
The reading really made me think about how people’s minds become spongier when stories are made with images. The reading showed many pictures that I recognized seeing throughout my life, also allowing me to remember somewhat the story that went with it. Having pictures with text allows readers to make personal connections, allows the brain to work in more innovative ways. Pictures give text literal and symbolic meaning “you understand what you are looking (the literal component of the message) and you perceive, perhaps even an emotional connection with the messages content (the symbolic component, Visual Communication text Book).

Tropes VS Woman
This video is about how woman are always portrayed as the damsel in distress and are always waiting for the man to come save them. Video games that we continually play do this along with movies. Popeye is one of my favorite movies/ TV show. Popeye is always seen saving the woman from the burly man and that is always the plot. Woman are angry because it is showing them as helpless and needing help to survive. So little girls playing this will get the idea that they can not survive without a man. I do not agree with what video games portray.

Reading
The comic about Thor was about a woman who really wanted to love Thor but he wouldn't show. She ended up doing something to get him to notice her but he ended up treating her to be like a villain. Then Thor asks if she still wants to make out.
The next comic is about a stick man who is trying to make it out of his office to rescue damsels in distress. He can’t get his gun because it is in his inventory. Then he can’t get out of his door so he tries to punch a door with glass in it. Turns out the glass was only a paper. Then he finds some candy corn in his pocket so then he tries to put that in his safe but he doesn’t know the combo. He decides to check the paper he found. He finds the combination hen it turns out there was only a picture behind the safe. HE finds a flask of whiskey. Tried to drink it but he was to put his gun that I thought he didn’t have away. He accident grabs the key to his door that he didn’t use to unlock the door.

Conversation
JakeC: I never can learn to draw
Cheng: I always get that, but as i told my friend Justin never say never. You don't have to be an artist to draw comics.
JakeC: What am i expected to draw then?
Cheng: Start with simple abstract ideas, lines, circles, and other shapes to make a picture. I circle is never perfect and it just means you can make it a sun, hand or anything that you want.
Jake: But how do i make a story out of my pictures then?
Cheng: Put the pictures into an order where you imply a movement though.
Response-Diaologue between me and the author, See what I mean
