In one of her past interviews, Sarah J. Maas commented Nesta's journey was just beginning after Silver Flames, and after reading House of Flame & Shadow I believe part of her journey will be linked to the Dusk Court, as not only did Nesta bargaining mark has an eight-pointed star form (which is associated with the Starborns and thus the Dusk Court), as now she is the Gwydion owner. And as much as Nesta power is usually linked to death, its also showed capable of bringing life (as we have seen with the House of the Wind and Feyre & Nyx). I also found it particularly curious that Pegasus started appearing in Avallen once the land was healed, since Pegasus seem to have an association with the Valkyries.

I’ve never been a real star wars fan but the phantom menace came out when I was 6 and my older brother was 8 so we were absolutely among the target audience and we had toy light sabers & we spent a lot of time playing star wars but my brothers were anakin and obi wan etc. and my best friend was padmé which meant i had to come up with a star wars oc and since my brother was anakin i decided okay. i would be anakin’s sister.

i made up a backstory that i was his twin sister who also lived on tatooine and i also had latent force potential but qui gon and obi wan didn’t even try to meet me even when anakin mentioned me and they left me behind.

this was an utter betrayal to me obviously, like my brother got rescued and i got abandoned and i could have been him and i should have been him. i should’ve been at his side. i should have gotten training and all else. i should have been a jedi too.

but they didn’t even care to meet me. so i had this intense grudge against the jedi and i ended up developing my skills myself and then i grew up and got myself off tattooine and set out on a mission as a rogue force user to kill obi wan.

and 6 year old me really embodied that role. she felt that. so when I was like 25 & rewatched the original star wars trilogy for the first time since childhood, when obi wan came on I was like ugh. I hate that guy. and my friend was like “WHY?”

and I thought about it and realized it wasn’t actually his character. I was remembering my childhood self insert oc beef.

Like, sorry you wouldn’t get it but obi wan and I have history.

unsung benefit i think a lot of ppl are sleeping on with using the public library is that i think its a great replacement for the dopamine hit some ppl get from online shopping. it kind of fills that niche of reserving something that you then get to anticipate the arrival of and enjoy when it arrives, but without like, the waste and the money.

I've been looking at some negative reviews and critical discussions of Silver Under Nightfall out of curiosity, because I'm very much in HOW COULD ANYONE NOT LIKE THIS mode and one of the most common points of criticism I've seen is people saying they don't feel chemistry between the three leads, because they don't find Xiaodan's and Malekh's attraction to Remy believable.

and this has made me wonder to what degree I simply adore the romance dynamic in this book because I absolutely want to: like yes, give me vampire polyamory with decent writing and a serious but not grimdark tone and I am on board just like that.

But there's also the aspect of it just being delicious wish fulfillment. Like oh no, our self-doubting wet cat of a protagonist is being told he's worthy of kindness by two beautiful, powerful, dangerous people who take him under their wing and just implicitly start protecting him from those who have abused him in the past, even before he realizes that what's happened to him is abusive in the first place.

Maybe I don't need a logical explanation for why these two powerful vampires - who have a history of picking up dying strays and nursing them back to undead health, if you remember - see a kind, competent and unfairly shunned guy and go "we'll get him out of there, and if he's up for it we'll take him into our lives and our bed".

Maybe Rin Chupeco's summary of "vampire couple finds himbo in the trash and takes him in" is actually all the character motivation and logical reasoning I need for this.

For anyone who’s wondering. This is a sculpture from Luo Li Rong, a contemporary artist that makes hyper realistic sculptures (usually out of bronze) . This one is made of clay (not marble) because it was the prototype of the actual sculpture.
