I love tedros and sophie because they always act like they're a divorced couple only talking through their lawyers, despite being seventeen and never having been married in the first place. there's a certain 'where's my alimony teddy' je ne sais quoi. spiritually sophie is in the doorway of her mansion in one of those silk robes telling the police why, I've not seen my ex husband in months, is there something wrong? :( what a pity while tedros is trying to chew through his binds in the basement

Every morning, The Esteemed Night Wardens By Appointment watched the parade of Ever workers coming in and out of the gingerbread house with a sort of glum resignation. It wasn’t as if they exactly wanted Gertrude’s girl back. But gutting her house to make it into a museum was a bit much– especially if it was being done by Evers. It seemed to them that the Evers must have had pretty poor memories, if they needed museums to remember what had happened where. It was all that embroidery and morris dancing and charity, they decided. Made you lose your grip on sanity.  But right now, they were watching the ponderous approach of a very elaborate carriage. This was the most exciting thing they had seen in several weeks. Up until now, the crowning jewel of their night guard sessions had been an immense badger that they had excitedly watched kill a rat.
(bonus task: there is 1 derry girls joke; find it and win... idk, nothing. some applause.)

And in case you DID wonder what, specifically, was in the 'very poorly spelt' letter Tedros send to Callis:
To Callis Wardwell, the illustrious ladie mother off Agatha Wardwell and Dread Heiress to the Unspeakable Duchy, greetings with all reverrens and honour.
We did notte meete as such but I wot we percieved each other at the second year arrivals day. I wreite pertaining too the treetment of your doughter by Pollucks, Professor of Ettiquete at Good. He is a dogge (I am not being derogatorie, he is a mogriff) who is quite meen to moste of us when we are not up to his standarde. Usually he is annoying, but last lesson he was passing rude to Agatha so I knocked his head off his bodie (it falls off all the tyme I did not slay him) and Kiko shouted at him and we all got detention (including Agatha, for laughing at his head fallinge off) bot Agatha is still embarassed and upsett about it. She thinks not to bother you with the issue bot I think you shoulde knowe even if you do not have specific details. I wot you shoulde poisonne him bot no one else agrees with this, so for posteritie I did not suggest such a thing. (Not to death, I wot, just to miserie.) However as a real wicche you would be able to devise a more fitting punishment than I. Agatha believes this a trivial matter but I do not agree and you probablie know that she is verie good at tryinge to ignore or down-play her own issues. I am sure that you would know what to do better than I, bot you could notte do anythinge if Agatha did notte tell you, so I took it upon myselff. Prithee do entreat me if I can be of any assistance.
With repeated respect to yourself, your sisters, and your ladie mother, the Grand Duchess Unspeakable,
Teddros Pendraigon, by the grace of Godde, Kinge of Camelot and Albion, Duc of Avalon and the Lord & Master of the Round Tayble
--------------------------
FAO: TEDROS OF CAMELOT
I get the gist, despite your... interesting variations in spelling. I'll see what can be done, and I assure you that I don't need your help in the matter. At any rate, it doesn't befit the son of Arthur to be assisting witches.
I remain,
Callis Wardwell, Witch

Thinking about Reader Everboys... No sword, no combat skills, no kingdom. The Princes are kinda meant to come with a prexisting set of skills and the Readers, of course, don't. Probably why Garrick died, because he couldn't defend himself in the Trial to the usual Everboy standard :( They only really have their wits and their looks and their personalities, everything else they'll always be a bit behind in unless they're a very fast learner... which is probably why the only Reader Everboys we know (that survived) are Jack, and the Clever Little Tailor; boys that are ingenious and charming, rather than valiant princes on horseback fighting dragons and crap

SCHOOL FOR GOOD: DEAN'S STUDENT FILES
Sensitive information included-- not for use or distribution outside of School premises. Security clearance must be obtained before accessing file EB.01, and be wary on file EG.60, since it's newly warded. Opinions are entirely the responsibility of Dean C. Dovey, G.M.B.W.A.O, and do not reflect the School for Good, Enlightenment and Enchantment, as an institution.
Files are numbered by order of student admittance, there having initially been 60 Everboys and 60 Evergirls, though this is no longer accurate. The numbers now stand as 115 Evers, 5 down from the original 120: 57 Evergirls and 58 Everboys, due to surrendered places. File numbers from last year are maintained for simplicity.
EG.60: AGATHA OF WOODS BEYOND
Family Name: Wardwell*
Legacy Relative: Reader; herself, Princess of The Tale of Sophie and Agatha
Date of Birth: 12th Day Before Kalends of May, 1410 AS (Reader Year 202)
Dorm: Valor 23
Projected Rank: Leader
Only daughter of a "Woods Beyond" (See Staff Notes: Previous Staff: Uglification: CALLIS WARDWELL) wise woman. Despite a immensely rocky start and thousands in property damage, Agatha is the first Ever Reader in decades to show any serious promise, and first Princess to ever be in a tale while still a first year. Immense interior grit, immense self doubt, immensely impressive talent. A very anxious child, but compensates with backtalk and cynicism. I have not let onto her the particular power of her talent, as I fear I may alarm her, but true wish granting hasn't been seen in hundreds of years, and such a thing, combined with her good heart, inability to legitimately stick up for herself, and tendency to feel sorry for people, may make her a target of political manipulation. Having said that, can become extremely hostile when she feels cornered, so may resist. Almost no talent for Etiquette or many aspects of Fashion and Grooming (usually- occasionally has a burst of confidence. Must cultivate) but a good essay writer and very intuitive, which makes her clever at History and an exemplary student in Good Deeds. Excellent at SFT, very quick-thinking. Previously mentioned talent gives her a running advantage at Animal Communication, when Princess Uma allows her to participate. Professor Espada reports her to be a surprisingly capable long-distance runner and swimmer. Is single-handedly dominating Practical Skills sessions, even if she has a taste for putting a painful amount of chilli in everything she cooks, and a habit of bringing her own undergarments to darn. Could undoubtedly hold her own in a brawl (would bite if provoked to do so). Particular attachments to Sophie of Woods Beyond (in my eyes, slightly manipulative relationship that needs to become less codependent, but they ultimately do love each other, as much as Sophie is capable of loving anyone that's not her), the Coven of R'66, Kiko of Neverland, and Tedros of Camelot. I expect to see her wear the Iris Crown, though I will not say so, in case she panics. Also, I suggested it to her mother, and she looked at me like I was something the cat had thrown up.
Medical Notes: Still has bouts of tinnitus and whiplash from last year. Her mother says she was underfed as a child and to make sure she's eating properly. No issues there, though I wish she would just ask Dot for sweets, rather than trying to pry them off the walls in lessons.
*Yes, that Wardwell. Extra security has been placed on these files, though I suspect the G.D.U will simply ask the Dread Heiress if there's something she wants to know about her granddaughter, since Callis is her mother and would know more than us.
EB.01: KING TEDROS ARTHUR CADFAEL PENDRAGON* OF CAMELOT & ALBION, DUC OF AVALON, LORD & MASTER OF THE ROUND TABLE
(Goes by TEDROS OF CAMELOT on day-to-day paperwork.)
Family Name: Pendragon
Legacy Relative: King Arthur &c.
Date of Birth: Nones of December 1410 AS
Dorm: Valor 22
Projected Rank: Leader
Only son of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere. Became King at nine years old after his father's death at the Battle of Camlann. Is the first reigning sovereign at the School in several decades; the previous one was Arthur himself. A charismatic, handsome and fairly intelligent child, but emotionally unstable and dubiously socialised. I spent a lot of time with Tedros over the summer; he's a lovely boy, very well-meaning, but has slapdash methods of trying to 'help' (usually militaristic or confrontational; I blame Camelot knight culture), and tunnel vision when it comes to his birthright and family legacy. Most of his charisma is a veneer. Slightly vain, and a little entitled, though I think it's largely overcompensating for his fear of his position. No support system, and therefore too quick to get attached. Ever social structure is built around him, but he is not careful with it and tends to accidentally cause problems. Very talented at Etiquette, Weapons Training, Fashion & Grooming. Average at Animal Communication. Usually good at SFT. Actually has a very good knowledge of History, when he bothers to engage, instead of making indistinct origami animals / holding court with his boys / passing notes. His spelling makes his essays hard to mark. Vanity dampened his performance in Good Deeds last year, but I have seen an improvement this term. Particular attachments to Chaddick of Foxwood (he will, undoubtedly, be Tedros's liege, and although they spend most of their time shoving each other, they are obviously very close), Beatrix of Jaunt Jolie (a much improved relationship; I assume they must have either had an arrangement I was not aware of, or wrote to one another over the break), and Agatha of Woods Beyond (he is deeply clingy with her; mercifully, I hear Agatha has set a few boundaries for him. With no healthy examples of successful relationships, I suspect Tedros has been using Camelot's courtly love literature and culture as a guidebook, and will have assumed that because they kissed once, they are now engaged.) See Student Safety and Welfare notes for the advanced security detail placed upon the School as a result of his enrolment.
Medical Notes: Weekly mithridatism makes him nauseous and lethargic (and, frankly, a little overemotional). He apparently can calculate the dosages himself and is unlikely to accidentally poison or drug himself. He told me once that if that ever happened, it would be because of foul play. Also not allowed to joust without knight supervision, (i.e. not here, only in Camelot) a caveat he is extremely upset about.
*The actual spelling of Tedros's name is up to some debate, since it's rare that I receive two identical iterations of it, and he thinks 'mice ate' his birth certificate, so cannot check. He has spelled it, variably, as Tedros, Tedross, Teddros, Tedrose, Tedroz, Tedrosse, and Tedrows, and sometimes spells his surname as Pendraigon. Official press releases and tend towards Tedros Pendragon, so we will go with that. I weep for Camelot's disinterest in standardised spelling, and pray that I never have to see him spell Cadfael.
EG.52: LADY BEATRIX HILDEGARD AURIFABER OF JAUNT JOLIE
Family Name: Aurifaber
Legacy Relative: Queen Cordelia, The Miller's Daughter (Maternal Grandmother)
Date of Birth: 16th day before the Kalends of July, 1410 AS
Dorm: Valor 23
Projected Rank: Leader
Beatrix is the first-born of seven daughters. Her mother is Queen Cordelia's ninth child. They have no claim to the throne and so the seven daughters are under pressure to marry well, hence Beatrix's maniacal (and slightly forced, in my opinion) obsession with Tedros. Family is destitute after the death of Queen Cordelia, since no one has inherited her talent of spinning gold, and the family spent extortionately when their mother was still alive. They may have to start selling family heirlooms. It is an open secret in JJ, but not really known elsewhere. Beatrix is a diligent and talented student, polite but a little cold, and can be catty. Directly tormented Agatha for the majority of last year, though they seem to have a tentative armistice now. Incredibly adaptable and malleable to any situation or context; I think she would be a fabulous actress if she ever got the opportunity. Though some argue she has no principles, and merely goes wherever the wind blows, I do not agree. Prodigious at Etiquette, Animal Communication, and Fashion & Grooming, developing a decent competence in Weapons Training and Surviving Fairy Tales. Always slipped in Good Deeds, but is beginning to improve. Good memory for History. Very savvy, very observant. Actually quite cynical. Very close with Reena of Pasha Dunes (note to self: pair together in group proj. Might not be productive work wise, but personally, very much so) Millicent of Maidenvale, Chaddick of Foxwood (Beatrix has no brothers and seems to want one) and Tedros of Camelot (messy and convoluted but they seem close regardless). She initially placed herself in the confidence of all the highest-ranking Ever students as a way of advancing social standing, but has since actually developed an affection for them. Her solo tour of the Woods in the summer seems to have done her a lot of good.
Medical Notes: At the start of last year, her mother posted me a long list of allergies and ailments for her. Beatrix took the list from me and informed me she had mixed up the medical needs of herself and her fourth sister, and that she is not allergic to anything.
EG.02: KIKO OF NEVERLAND
Family Name: N/A, does not have one
Legacy Relative: Various Mermaids of Neverland
Date of Birth: Day After the Nones of July, 1411 AS
Dorm: Valor 22
Projected Rank: Follower
Only child of one of the oldest Neverland mermaids. Lived in the sea exclusively until she was admitted here, after which her (human) father taught her to walk on land, which accounts for why she isn't the steadiest on her feet. Written work is quite weak, but practically is quite resourceful, when she doesn't panic. Excels in Good Deeds and Animal Communication, strong to average everywhere else. I fear she struggled to fit in somewhat, last year, since most of the other girls knew (or knew of) each other socially, whereas Neverland has never been involved with Good politics or social calls, especially not the mermaids, since they have no sense of society beyond each other. May account for why she latched onto Agatha. Had never been on land before she came here, but has adapted surprisingly well, and maintains an excitement for fairly mundane things that is very endearing. A little silly, but very sweet. Quicker to catch onto social cues than most think, and could probably be fearsome if the mood ever struck her... which it never does. Probably the best-tempered mermaid Neverland has ever produced, which is saying something, since they're infamously capricious. Particularly attached to Agatha, and Yara (has already brought up this year's ball to Yara about a million times. Is being weathered with incredible patience, but Yara is refusing to actually promise her anything prematurely, since it would definitely make all the others panic about ball proposals. Even his peers don't want Tedros influencing a round of messy speed-proposals... again.) Kiko doesn't seem close to many others, and obviously afraid of Sophie, which makes her reluctant to approach Agatha when they're together. Like with Agatha, I aim to work on her confidence.
Medical Notes: Needs hour-long baths every day to prevent skin drying up, and does not dry off half as fast as humans. Does not eat fish. Particularly sensitive to sound due to the way her ears operate from being underwater, and sometimes wears earplugs. Has gills, though covers them with her hair since they're at the top of her neck.
EB.22: CHADDICK OF FOXWOOD
Family Name: Gremlaine
Legacy Relative: Ferdinand the Faithful
Date of Birth: 9th day before Kalends of November, 1409 AS
Dorm: Valor 23
Projected Rank: Follower
Chaddick's mother is a schoolteacher in a Foxwood border village. His father is a leatherworker. He is the middle child of three boys and is the first to go to the School in several generations. Chaddick is genial and relatively laid-back, and seems happy to adopt a Follower role rather than striving to lead. He is excellent in Weapons Training, Surviving Fairy Tales, and History, and is a very, very good tactician. This year, he has developed a decent talent for Animal Communication, is still consistently passable in Fashion & Grooming and Good Deeds. He is one of the oldest students in this cohort and it gives him a stability that a lot of his slightly younger peers lack; he will be eighteen this term. He is almost a full year older than Tedros, and is definitely slightly protective of him. (Tedros does not have siblings, and, probably for the best, does not understand that he is the younger brother in that dynamic.) The younger Everboys turn to Chaddick for a lot of issues, rather than someone like Tedros or Nicholas, who are their social superiors, but not, in the kindest way possible, very helpful. Chaddick does not have the weight of a birthright to shoulder, and so has more of a grounded take on life. He's also something of a social secretary for the Evers. I think the Ever social structure may have collapsed a long time ago, if not for him. He may not lead kingdoms, but he will lead men, and they will follow him anywhere. I expect to see him stand right of the throne at the Round Table. Besides Tedros, he is close with Nicholas of Ladelflop, Yara of Avalon Towers, and Beatrix of Jaunt Jolie. I believe he went to visit Yara in the summer, and they came here together. I have absolutely no idea how he and Agatha feel about each other.
Medical Notes: Is also no longer allowed to joust due to massive threat to both himself, and everyone else. A little too good for school jousts. Will have to take his talents to legitimate tournaments. The theory he got himself banned on purpose to keep Tedros company when he's not allowed to participate, has never been proven.
EB.02: PRINCE NICHOLAS DU BRUGH OF LADELFLOP, COUNT OF THE WANDERING WOOD
Family Name: Du Brugh
Legacy Relative: The Elven King (Grandfather)
Date of Birth: Three Days Before the Nones of May, 1411 AS
Dorm: Valor 22
Projected Rank: Leader/Follower
With the Elven King elderly and his father constantly unwell, Nicholas will certainly sit the throne of Ladelflop in his lifetime. He is the eldest of three children (two younger sisters), and several cousins. He is deeply chivalrous and very gracious, and the girls are very fond of him. Generally has a gentle disposition, but Tedros brings out his more confrontational side, and he tends to butt heads with him, since neither of them are used to being disagreed with. They get on well enough, when it's superficial, but in tenser moments tend to clash. He told Rumi once that Tedros is a not entirely welcome reminder of what he's probably going to be, in not so long a time period, (i.e. young king prematurely without a father), but he's never raised this to Tedros, as far as we know. Chaddick is usually successful in keeping the peace, but is occasionally wrenched this way and that like a coveted toy in the hands of jealous toddlers. (He will usually surrender himself to Tedros, then apologise to Nicholas later, since Tedros takes rejection so much harder.) In any other cohort Nicholas would have ruled the Everboys, and may have been a more stable influence than their... current King. Incredible athlete, excellent musician, clever and insightful written work in History and Good Deeds. Strong to medium everywhere else. Though he and Reena are apparently not romantically interested in one another, they are good friends, and Reena was reportedly disappointed she did not get to go to the ball with him at the end of last year. Millicent has had a crush on him for the entire year, and now the entire Evergirl social structure has shifted (and her two competitors for Nicholas's attention, Reena and Beatrix, have now become interested in each other), she may have her chance. Will move seating plans around. Marriage between those two would be politically advantageous, since Millicent is a Princess of Maidenvale... Nicholas is also close to Beatrix, Yara and Chaddick, and quickly retreats to Tarquin, Roland, Oliver, &c when Tedros is annoying him.
Medical Notes: Has occasional migraines. Is not allowed to practice mithridatism on his father's orders; do not let him take Tedros's.
EG.61: THE DAMOSEL YARA CAREW OF AVALON TOWERS
Family Name: Carew Legacy Relative: Rhiannon Date of Birth: Kalends of March, 1410 AS Dorm: Valor 23 Projected Rank: Follower
Yara's father is the Captain of the Avalon Guard, bound to protect the isle, and the Lady of the Lake. Her mother was one of Queen Guinevere's ladies in waiting. (Due to her standing and the fact that she left Guinevere's service early for her own marriage, she was never confronted or hounded for her role in Guinevere's affair, even though she likely knew about it.) Yara has one younger brother, and the family lives in relative isolation at the Avalon outpost with a few other families, and the guard garrison. As a result, Yara is athletic, strong, and a massively competent fighter, though an instinct to defer usually ensured she lost duels in first year. She is also immensely hardy in extreme weather, and a very good dancer. She is excellent in practical subjects like SFT, and had a tutor which has made her a competent historian. Since living in relative isolation for much of her life, she was eager to fit in at Good, and as a result tended not to make an effort to assert herself, which made her grades slip... at least at first, until she began to realise she was definitely in the wrong place. I attended her over the end of term and the start of the summer, (I am, as I reminded her, a fairy godmother to all princesses in need) and she was very anxious about her re-entry to Good, but her peers were unfazed. Such things aren't too uncommon, and I think the boys of Valor 22 were more concerned about their rugby team than anything else. Tedros has promised Yara that he will present her at court when he next goes back, since she is of an age and a rank that befits it. Yara feels her mother's previous position makes it awkward with Tedros, but Tedros is eager to be friends, (their physical fight last year notwithstanding) and has apparently forgotten that her mother probably aided his. Or he doesn't care, but I consider that unlikely. Yara coddled crushes on both Tedros and Beatrix in first year, but she admits both were slightly forced (though Tedros is still good at flustering her), and has gotten much closer to Kiko over the summer, as well as Chaddick, who lives nearby. Beatrix also dropped in on her way to Glass Mountains, apparently. I have high hopes for Yara, and I am pleased she is becoming less deferential.
Medical Notes: Prone to nosebleeds.
EG.01: REENA HATUN, DAUGHTER OF THE MAGNIFICENT SULTAN OF SHAZABAH, KHANUM OF PASHA DUNES
Family Name: No surname from her father; her mother's surname is Adeen Legacy Relative: Aladdin (Grandfather) Date of Birth: Ides of September, 1410 AS Dorm: Valor 13 Projected Rank: Leader
Reena is the second-born child of the Sultan of Shazabah and his ex-wife Mumtaz Adeen, and second in line to the throne after her brother, Kaveen. Uma is willing to teach Reena so long as she does not mention her brother (given their... rocky past), but Reena is not interested in discussing him. Far less given to egotistical outbursts than the other two royal heirs in her year, she is very careful of her composure and reputation, likely because of the tempestuous relationship between the Sultan and Kaveen, which, one would agree, is enough scandal and drama for one court. (Not that the others aren't conscious of their reputation, but she never slips, whereas Tedros and Nicholas do.) As such, she is hard to crack and a little uptight. Openly friendly, but hard to get anything meaningful from. She and Beatrix are likely close for this reason. They do not like to be honest... except possibly with each other. Particularly good at Animal Communication, perfectly competent everywhere else. A little vain and a little proud, but nowhere near as bad as Beatrix. She and Beatrix are very protective of Millicent, and try their best to help her in lessons. Good friends with Chaddick and Nicholas, and has known Tedros for a long time and likes to goad him, a little. Seems to be doing her best to make it up to Agatha. A little bit of a dark horse; Agatha, Tedros and Beatrix are viewed as the top students, but she's always threatening their ranks. Is currently betrothed to Prince Peeta of Putsi, but is insistent it will not last, and ignores the letters and presents he sends her every few weeks. Has a sense of self that a lot of the other girls lack.
Medical Notes: Does not like to wear hawking gloves, but must be made to. She has been injured far too many times, now, even if she insists her hawks and falcons 'didn't mean to'.
EG.09: PRINCESS MILLICENT BLUEBELL PERCEFOREST, THE LADY BLESSED BY FAIRIES
Family Name: Perceforest Legacy Relative: Briar Rose and Prince Philip (Paternal Grandparents) Date of Birth: Three days before the Ides of Febuary, 1411 AS Dorm: Valor 13 Projected Rank: Follower/Mogrif
Millicent is the second grandchild of Briar Rose and Prince Philip, and third in line to the throne of Maidenvale (but will likely not inherit, since she has an older brother who has just gotten married.) Flora, Fauna and Merryweather have lost their touch in their old age, and have certainly done a merry number on Millicent, who is beautiful and sweet, but unfortunately, with the best will in the world, quite silly and fearful, since the fairies gifts were fumbling, ill-worded, and contradictory; they ended up making her pretty, paranoid, and inattentive. I believe Briar Rose did end up banning them from attending to grandchildren's christenings unscripted, after that. In the School Master's regime, she certainly would have ended up a deer or a rabbit. Happily, now he has been slain, I hope she will be able to stay human, since I certainly do not want to continue on with Mogrification as it once was. The third part in the little trio consisting of she, Beatrix and Reena, but tends to get overlooked by most people as just one of Beatrix's minions. A huge romantic. Not very strong in many lessons, but quite good in Etiquette, which saves her rankings, and has a talent for the flute. Politically savvy when she actually listens and engages, which is not very often, and she does not seem to know what she's saying is clever. As previously mentioned, has a crush on Nicholas. She, Reena, Tedros and Nicholas have all been familiar with each other for a long time, as royal children of the same generation. Was happy to fall behind Beatrix in first year, and is now attempting to treat Agatha in the same way (but not succeeding, as Agatha is not yet comfortable being in charge, and is unsettled by being deferred to, or, indeed, popular at all.)
Medical Notes: Is emphatically banned from ever using spinning wheels, and like most of her family, slightly narcoleptic. But mostly falls asleep at the start or end of the day, not in midday lessons, thankfully. May account for her wavering performance in some places.
