@wistrea : it breaks her heart to think that perhaps her daughter did not truly know how much she loved her to think that she would abandon her... all for the blood that she spilt. to judge jun over her kills would make her a hypocrite, and she knew that it was not her fault. she had failed her before, when she was taken from her and kira was unable to protect her own child whom she believed was already dead. no, she would rather condemn herself to the nine circles of hell than let jun slip away again. it was with almost a hint of desparation that she pulls her daughter into her arms, holding her tightly in an embrace that felt as though she was so terrified of letting her go again, because she was. she does not think she could survive it a second time. ❛      i won't let anyone hurt you ever again. mama's sorry i couldn't do it sooner, when you needed me the most. i'm sorry they took you, i'm sorry they made you think you were good for nothing but killing ... you were a child, not a blade. you're my child.      ❜ she draws back only to press a kiss to jun's forehead, ❛      and nothing will ever make me stop loving you, jun. my sweet, kind daughter. my daughter who is brighter than the sun itself. you'll always be precious to me. i love you so much, my miracle of a girl...     ❜

jun knows what desperation feels like in one's actions. but it's typically in the form of sluggish punches and swings of weapons, not arms around her, holding her so tightly, yet tenderly, that it was so contradicting. kira holds her so warmly that it is hard to believe this is the chaos witch, the woman who bores ice in contrast to jun's flames. funnily enough, she would have thought kira was the one to produce the flames, seeing as she was so passionate in this moment. but, then again, perhaps it was simply kira being a mother. which, even if so, was quite strange to jun. strange, but incredibly comforting.

her words easily make jun weak - it's words she wanted to hear for so long. she's longed for her mother. not a mother, but hers. and her mother was the strongest, but most loving mother of all. and that, for some strange reason, made this all the more emotional as jun hesitates to wrap her trembling arms around the taller witch. the moment her hands meet around kira's waist, they lock her in, and jun is immediately burying her face into the woman's chest, face scrunched up as tears easily begin to pour from crimson red hues. ❝ i love you too... mom. ❞ it comes out as an awkward sob, it still feels so unreal to be calling this woman such a word.

as the poor teen comes undone, crying and sobbing into the ravenette's chest, jun thinks herself weak. but she knows that's far from the truth. the people who took her and raised her made sure she wasn't weak, but she was hyperemotional. which could give the illusion of weakness, especially since she was still prone to having meltdowns. this one, at least, didn't trigger the fire within her. instead, she simply holds onto her mother and cries, no sign of losing control in sight.

genpact kira will never allow herself to trade love for her ambitions. as a seelie, she forbids herself from falling in love with humans due to the curse, ever since she found out about [redacted]. she is one of the last, she has convinced herself that she is a vessel of forbidden knowledge and nothing more, otherwise she will end up just like orobashi. she cannot sacrifice her ideals, she cannot risk the knowledge of her people dying with her before celestia can ever face judgement just because of something as inconsequential to her as love... and it's heartbreaking that she's convinced herself that love is inconsequential. she views it like an obstacle, something unreachable and yet unnecessary. she will carry out her ambitions, fighting writing like she's running out of time (haha get it) ever since she was a child. she can't fail. she is a piece on the board, not an individual, simply a fragment of something much larger than herself. there is truly nothing more terrifying to her than forgetting, because who will remember if not her? love isn't worth it, love isn't worth the wanting in her chest for it, she will never admit that the thought still remains beautiful in her mind. her ambitions and grand ideals is the breath in her lungs. the difference is that she is willing to die for her grand scheme. but love would be what kills her.
