Snakes, why'd it have to be snakes! WelcomeToWriteblr invites you to treasure hunt with our board game event! We have prepared one writing prompt every day based on jewels. The top 3 participants with the most prompts completed will receive a prize of their choice at the end of the event.

From MARCH 8TH to APRIL 2ND, create something in response to that day's prompt and post it. You are welcome to do absolutely anything for the prompt of the day, whether it be a simple response to the prompt in relevant channels, a graphic, a drawing, an excerpt, a playlist, or a moodboard (as long as there is evidence you have responded!).

While you were away, our leaders have been called to complete a quest: gather writeblrs from across the world and create a challenge to win Nano 2023! Do you have what it takes to be the best demigod of them all? Our prophecies are telling us that it could be you… but who knows what those things ever really mean, right? Cross the magical border, avoid the monsters on your tail, get claimed by your godly parent, grab your new t-shirt (yes, you can keep it), get ready for some crazy rounds of capture the flag, and try to keep yourself out of trouble. The counsellor’s are busy enough as it is. Ready to have the best summer of your life, half-blood? Come join us at CAMP WTW and get yourself ready. Starting November 1st, it’s up to you to write as many words for Nano as you can!

EVENT RULES AND DETAILS

With our upcoming event we have had many people join our Discord server. This is the perfect time for us to release our FAQ about how we deal with events and such inside of them. If you are participating, please read through this!

THE SERVER

We have a levelling system in our server. The more you talk, the more you level up. We will boot people from the event if you have yet to reach CROOK aka LVL 5. It is extremely easy to reach this level. All you have to do is talk. We are very welcoming and active. This is non-negotiable. CROOK is reachable within a day. You must also give yourself roles when you join! It is not hard to do this. If you need help just ask a leader or mod. You will be kicked if you do not do this. We only need AGE and PRONOUNS. Other roles beside these DO NOT COUNT!! Stop joining and not giving yourself roles!

JOINING ONCE THE EVENT HAS STARTED

Please try and join before November 1st. Anyone who joins a week late (November 8th) will not be accepted into the event. You must be active. We will be more lenient with the level rule if you have just joined but if you continue to not be active and haven’t reached common within a week you will likely be booted from the event.

HOW IT WORKS

Most of the information is contained within the document accessible within the server's event channels. Rather than word count, the leaderboard will be based upon the percentage of how close you get to your word goal. Anyone who reaches their word count before the final few days will be asked to increase their goal to make it fair for slower writers.

Please do not hesitate to speak or join the server. We are extremely welcoming and active. But if you cannot follow these simple rules then you cannot participate in our events.

✨Welcome All Cloudheads✨

Hey! I'm cottonberryfinn or just Cotton or Finn. I decided to come back to Tumblr after a long break off social media, and I'll be honest, I missed it a little. It's like a little home in my phone (let's pretend that this doesn't make me sound codependent on my phone).

Anyway, I have been writing since I was seven and now I am 25! I love writing fantasy, specifically dark fantasy. I usually write for adults (18+), but my current book seems to read more for YA or teens.

Writing has been my life since I could hold a pencil, but I never thought about sharing my works with others until my teen years, but by then, school had eaten away at any free time, so now I am taking that time back.

Currently, I just got fulltime at the public library in my town and I have to say that I love it. It's a home away from home. Not many people can say that about their job and I'm happy that I am able to.

I came back to Tumblr as a way to connect with writers, mainly writers my own age. I enjoy speaking to others about their works and their characters as well. I find it fascinating what people come up with and I hope that you guys find what I come up with just as fascinating.

WIP Intro

Title: Devourer of Souls

Genre + tropes: Fantasy, found family, fairytale retelling (Snow White and Rose Red)

Tag: devourer of souls wip

Themes (may be subject to change with the 1st draft): destruction vs creation, inherent contradictions of femininity, anti-war, choosing your own family, freedom from expectation, religious trauma

Status: outlining + first draft

Additional notes: I'm gonna (try to) do this for NaNo!! Wish me luck!!

Plot

Seth was supposed to be a healer. That's what everyone said she would be. She would become a healer and fight in the war for the Goddess of Time. But her healing doesn't work like it's supposed to. Instead of giving life, she takes it away. People say she eats souls.

She tries to live a quiet life in the countryside, away from the war, but is rudely interrupted when Theo, a lost demigoddess, wanders into her life. Together, they will try to find a place for themselves and their strange magic in this world and make a life together. But war is never kind, and the Goddess of Time want her daughter's power on her side, and she won't let some pesky healer get in her way.

Characters

Seth: a girl with terrifying powers who just wants a quiet life as a small town's healer. She was expelled from the hospital she was apprenticing for a failed healing that killed the patient and permanently damaged her leg in the process.

Theo: a powerful demigoddess whose magic is making her soul slowly wither away. She's running from her adoptive family and searching for her Goddess-Mother, but ends up finding Seth. Through her Mother's influence, she becomes consumed by the war.

Flick: a teenager touched by the Goddess of Love, whose body houses two conflicting souls. They are cursed to have anyone they meet fall in love with them, and Seth takes them under her wing while on their journey to find themself.

Jane: a sort of puppet created by the Goddess of Time to replace Theo after her death, delivered to Seth when the Goddess couldn't stand her anymore. She's in the mortal world for the first time and trying to figure out who she wants to be.

Camilla: a young girl Seth adopted later in the story. She has a severe allergy to magic, but she loves her new "siblings" - despite how magical they are.

The Goddess of Time: Theo and Jane's mother. By far the most ruthless - and broken - among her sisters. She lives in her Garden in the plane of the gods, where she takes her daughters to shape them into her champions.

Notes on the setting

everything in this world has a soul, or life force, which can be transferred by those with the right magical inclination

usually, healers can only direct the "souls" from themselves to other in order to heal them, and when their soul runs out, they die - it is the ultimate sacrifice and a healer's greatest honour, to surrender their very souls to their Goddess

there are three Sister Goddesses, each representing a core aspect of humanity, waging war against each other to see who is more powerful (I expand upon it here)

certain types of powerful magic can cause your soul to start eating itself if not kept in check, as is Theo's case

while spreading her wings outside of tired (safe, protected, revered) wyvernwood, mallory makes nice with the one beast her adoptive father wants dead more than anything - more than the coyotes, more than the bears, even more than the monoliths who were once people, wandering closer each day. now she is on a mission to save his life without tearing apart her pseudo family, and she has one more thing to keep in mind: the beast, more present and intelligent day by day, is the only being in the world that knows her secret. and if he trades his life for it when two feet and naked skin finds him again, it will be her ultimate undoing.

Kharis Masen is no one.

Just another teenager, one of billions of people living on the Belt. She dreams of a different life, of making it off her backwater planet and onto the Crux, into one of the great supercities, where she can do something with her life besides get married and inherit her father's machine shop.

But she's sixteen now, and old enough to know that dreams don't really come true. Not when you have a father who drinks more than he works, a mother practically dead to the world, and a brother who's abandoned you to join the the royal navy. No, Kharis Masen is no one, and it will stay that way.

Until a life support pod crashes into the field behind her house.

The Emprex is dead, and Nadiyya is on the run.

Framed for poisoning Emprex Jaennan IV, Nadiyya is the only one who know the truth of her death. Now hiding from the royal navy, she needs to find the true heir to the throne the only one who can oust the treacherous new Emprex, Traevn II. As the navy catches up to her, Nadiyya's only hope is to deploy her life support pod with her in it, and hope to land on habitable planet.

With the aid of Kharis, Nadiyya managed to get transport on a ship, but the navy is closing in, and with it, the threat of execution. When Kharis is implicated, her only choice is to go on the run with Nadiyya, find the rightful Emprex, and restore her to the throne.

Hey there everyone! My name is Jay Avian, and I am a young writer hoping to share my works, get some feedback, and meet fellow writers.

About Me

I go by she/her. I love reading fantasy, folklore, and poetry. I like watching crime shows on TV. Used to like reading mystery, but I don't typically venture out into reading new stuff. (I need to read more honestly.) I also write my own poetry, which I'll post on here from time to time.

My WIPs

I have far too many projects at the moment. From short stories to novels to possible blogs, I'm currently writing in a few different genres. I mainly stick to fantasy but I like to venture out. Here are some of the main projects I'm passionate about.

Kraken's Bane (fantasy, action) - Captain Caspian Barrack, also known as the Pirate King, had it good for a long time. One day, his fleet was attacked by a mysterious new monster, and he gave up sailing forever. What happened on that day? What caused his change of heart? Where did this monster come from? Young Elliot wants to find the answers to these questions. But if you venture too far, you will drown in high water. And what you will find there, well, no one can say.

Our Intrepid Detective (mystery, noir) - Crime never slows for anybody, especially not our daring detective and his partner. But when a new sort of criminal walks the streets, our detective may find his world turned on its head. When the people around him are changing, can our fearless protagonist keep up with the times?

The Black Rose Project (sci-fi, horror) - The Earth has existed for millions of years. People have come and gone. Animal species have come and gone. The cycle of life ends for many, and the survivors evolve to adapt to their changing environments. In recent years, the balance of our ecosystems has been slowly shifting. More and more species are going extinct far too quickly due to humanity’s negligence. Thanks to bioengineering, there is a solution. Technology has advanced far enough to allow us to not only recreate extinct animal species, but to make them better fit for the changing ecosystems.

Feel free to ask me any questions about my projects. I'd be more than happy to answer them! I may actually make a blog just for the Black Rose Project. Idk what format I want it in yet, so who knows.

Anyways, can't wait to show you what I have in store!!

When a champion of the gods dies, a new champion has already been selected to take their place, trained for most of their lives to receive the power of their god and the responsibility of enacting their will on the mortal plane. But when the chosen of the Trickster, god of games, luck and shadow, refuses the call, a new champion must take his place, the burden falling onto his companion untrained and never meant for the games of gods. And as a new god enters their champion into the ring, a god who has been barred from the mortal plane for centuries, they're going to have to learn on the job what it means to be chosen.

Instead of death, the bastard is taken in to be reforged, made into a weapon to be used by the enemy because of the unique power of his bloodline, carving out a place of respect and fear amongst people who do not look at him as an unfortunate spare. But when he and his brother, no longer sweet, no longer shy, are reunited on opposite ends of sharpened blades, he must choose, bastard or blade?

REVENANCY — a writeblr (re)intro

→ I'm Riel. 26 going on "wait, I'm not already 27? I thought I was 28." Queer. Neurodivergent. Agender. Any pronouns work for me, though I'm especially fond of ve/vis/ver.

→ I grew up on YA and adult fantasy novels, and as an adult, there's nothing I love more than to sit down and write on my own silly little YA and adult fantasy novels. I would love to be published some day, trad or selfpub. If I can reach one person in the same way my favorite authors have reached me, that's a success.

→ I have too many projects to count. I mean that entirely literally. Here are a couple that I love and I'm trying to write or revise at some point in the next year:

UNCHOSEN: When the Chosen dies, her twin sister is forced to fake her own death and take her place to prevent their home from falling into chaos.

THE GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS: A disowned crown prince ekes out an existence teaching his half-siblings. A journeyman political assassin is caught breaking down the bodies. Navigating the court alone is hard – but together, it's deadly.

BEARSKIN: When a hunter kills an ancient snow bear, her brother is stolen as payment for her crime. She treks across the snow to bring him home, but the Prince of Always Night, enigmatic Winter himself, won't let him go unless she plays his game. Curses, after all, must be paid out.

SALT & SILVER: A College alchemist and a guardsman in a little frontier town track down a necromancer who's trying to wake the ghost of a forgotten god – but that's what he's counting on.

→ I'm looking for new (or old) writeblrs to follow – my old account got completely destroyed, so this is a hard reset for me, and I'd like to find some more people to interact with!

→ I follow back, and I love tag games and ask games, even if I don't always have the energy to keep up with them. I also love all of y'all's projects, even if I don't always have the energy. Neurodivergence and a full time job are great, y'all.
