Purple Hearts was so hard to watch.
I watched it bc people were saying you can see some Henry mannerisms and felt good about Nicholas Galitzine for the role. so I was excited! I wanted to watch the actor who’s going to play one of my fav fictional characters (even though I knew ahead of time the whole movie is military propaganda.)
and I prepared myself to look past the military stuff but I was not ready for the line “kill all arabs” and for Luke to sit by and do nothing.
then all the “liberal snowflake” comments he made while Cassie was arguing with him. (NO. not arguing. defending herself and her background, unnecessarily, to someone who doesn’t respect her family or place in the country. she shouldnt have had to explain the things she did.)
and there was no real redemption for this aspect of his character in the end. I kept waiting for him to say something right. in the end I was hoping he’d have some come to Jesus moment like “I was wrong. I shouldn’t have let my friend say that.” or LITERALLY ANYTHING EVEN CLOSE TO THAT.
instead the liberal, latina girl ends up sacrificing her morals with a conservative guy who has shown no emotional or empathic growth other than “I should take responsibility for the fraudulant marriage” which….. ok. you got like 10% of the problem here. congrats.
how about all the other shitty aspects of his character?? I didn’t want to watch Cassie be forced to defend herself and her heritage but at the same time I didn’t like watching her fall for someone who would have voted for trump, no question. not to mention, Nicholas Galitzine’s next role is a gay character and I spent the whole movie thinking “Yeah this guy would vote against gay marriage.”
nothing against Nicholas Galizine. it’s actually a testament to his acting ability that I hated Luke so much, honestly. and I couldn’t picture a better Henry if I tried
idk. I can’t believe I watched the full thing. I was waiting for something that was never gonna happen :(
EDIT: I shouldn’t have left this in the tags of my reblog. “Cassie settled for someone who would vote against her at the end of the day” and thats not romantic to me, sorry.

About other universes in Everything Everywhere All at Once…
there is one universe where Evelyn was sick and Waymond was right beside her, holding her hand.
In Alphaverse, the van Alpha Waymond was on is basically a mobile rebel base with limited resources and space, and yet he still set up a shrine. Usually a shrine like this, considering there was an urn and red lights, I think it’s safe to assume this was not something like a poster of a spiritual leader at the rebel base to boost morale, but a shrine set up for a family member, by a family member.
At the end of his life, he was still holding onto her urn.
With his last breathe, all he wanted to express is how grateful he was that he was in Evelyn’s arms.
So Waymond really said from this day forward,
for better for worse,
for richer for poorer,
in sickness and in health,
to love and to cherish, till death us do part.
