Hey, I am SO sorry for not being able to get around to asks and posting here more frequently, I have a big trip coming up next week and the whole prep for it has been stressing me out big time. I haven't traveled out of town or been on a plane for almost 10 years and I feel horribly out of the loop in terms of what might've changed with the whole process.

(Yes, I know I'm overthinking it, but I don't want to be caught off guard and run into any problems before I can even get on the damn plane...)

I was much healthier the last time I flew out to see family, and with the way my body is now with all these chronic conditions, I feel way more stressed than I'd normally be because I don't know if anything health-wise will come up during my trip.

Plus, traveling just stresses me out in general... And when I get too stressed or overwhelmed I just sorta shut down.

Anywhoo, I think I'll be in a much better state of mind to work on answering asks and doing some character question prompts once I get back. I'll be way too busy catching up with family to be able to do any writing while I'm out of town, so I'd much rather work on things when I don't have so much on my mental plate.

I'm feeling a bit better and less weird inside and out now that I've gone without any caffeine for a while, but my body decided to throw another curveball and now I'm dealing with a kidney stone.

Being chronically ill is so fun.

The meds I take to keep the pain in check (and my ass out of the ER) have a lot of side effects and it's hard to not think about the kidney stone itself (doesn't matter how many I've passed, it's always a scary experience for me) but I'm doing my best to chip away at some OC prompts and asks that I have in my drafts folder.

Carmine's Actions Make Sense

I'm not an apologist because yeah, Carmine doesn't always make the right decisions, but I'm kinda shocked how many people are calling her abusive or toxic for her actions which all feel justifiable. I'm not saying she didn't do anything wrong, but I understand Carmine's thought process for each item.

Carmine telling the player to not tell Kieran about them seeing Ogerpon is reasonable given that we don't know anything about Ogerpon at this time and that what Carmine says about Kieran running up into the mountain at night also is an accurate assumption. Kieran already tells us that he goes up to the Oger's cave when it's not really allowed for people to go up there. It's not really far-fetched for Carmine to A. Know Kieran does this as his older sister who's the main person looking after him, and B. Know Kieran is impulsive enough to do this if he knew the oger was real. She has valid concerns about wanting to wait to tell her brother anything because the mountains of Kitakami are not safe at night, so it's not safe to tell Kieran and have him run up there.

The mountains are confirmed not to be safe by Carmine and by Kieran. So it's not Carmine being overprotective, it's common knowledge at Kitakami that the mountains are not safe.

People seem to think Carmine hits Kieran? People seem to think she beats the hell out of him? Because they're misremembering a line during your scene with Carmine and Kieran's grandfather. I've seen people quote the line "I WAS being kind! It's not like I hit him again." Which is not the line in the cutscene. The line is "I WAS being Kind! It's not like I hit him or anything!" This line isn't proof that Carmine has ever hit her brother, more that she understands hitting him would be mean, but doesn't imply she ever did it. Carmine is never shown as physical with any of the characters, including Drayton who annoys her the most out of the cast. I just think it's a stretch to make claims about her hitting him.

I also want to note it makes sense she wanted to continue keeping it a secret because her grandfather told her to. He mentions how the villagers would be angered knowing that a legend that is so close to their hearts would be challenged. It makes sense Carmine would believe this because she got upset with Kieran during the festival when he said something about the oger. So Carmine would believe that the rest of the village would be as protective as her over Kitakami and it's legends. Also these are their grandparents, the only people Carmine can be a kid with because she's not always Kieran's protector when they are with them, they it's their responsibility to parent, not hers (though you can really tell how non-equipt to raise children the grandparents are in their scenes.)

How'd Nina meet the other members of her team? Corviknight she's know since before the evolution to that form, but what of the others?

Nina's primary Pokemon team came from her journey across Paldea, save for Arbok, who she found during a school trip to Kitakami. She once let it slip in front of Kieran that she liked how Arbok's scales were purple and black like his hair, which his older sister Carmine overheard and still brings up to this very day. Arbok is big and intimidating, but outside of battle, he's surprisingly gentle with people, especially younger kids. It seems this Pokemon reminds Nina of Kieran in more ways than one.

(She's also caught Kieran snuggling with Arbok on several occasions, along with Seviper in a danger-noodle cuddle pile.)

Houndoom was found in a cave that Nina followed Koraidon into, back when he was just a little Houndour. She'd been attacked by these Pokemon before in the same place in the past, but it didn't deter her from wanting to have one on her team. Her Houndoom is unusually big for his species, which can set some people on edge when they first meet him, but he's very sweet and is always asking for pets and belly rubs once he gets to know them. He and Arven's Mabosstiff are best buddies and often play with each other during visits.

He's basically a Great Dane who thinks he's still small enough to be a lapdog. If he likes someone, he WILL try to lie on top of them on the couch. Arven spoils the heck out of him, and lets him get away with anything when Nina's not around.

(Arven, I saw that. Stop giving Houndoom bites of your sandwich!"

"Oh, what, like you don't spoil Mabosstiff whenever my back is turned?!")

Noivern was also found in a cave, in the farthest reaches of Northeast Paldea, up in the bamboo forests and mountains near one of Team Star's bases. Noivern has a wild and fierce personality, which can be unsettling outside of battle, especially when he makes eye contact. Nina's friends say he looks like he's plotting their murder whenever he stares at them. It took a while for Noivern to trust Nina after she caught him, and he has moments where he can still be unpredictable and dangerous. However, he enjoys letting off steam with battles, and works wonderfully with Corviknight as an aerial battle duo.

Penny gets creeped out by Noivern the most. She's been jumpscared several times by him during the night, so her feelings are completely justified.

Honchkrow was found at the foot of Glaseado Mountain, thankfully without a flock of Murkrow in tow. As expected of his species, Honchkrow is mischievous and cunning, and he loves to show off his underhanded tactics on the battlefield. He's mostly well-behaved outside of battle, choosing to perch somewhere high up so he can keep an eye on everything that's going on while he preens his feathers. However, he does enjoy stealing food and shiny objects from strangers every now and then, which results in lots of apologies to them from his Trainer. Honchkrow also has a knack for vocal mimicry, and likes to imitate all kinds of sounds just to mess with people.

Nina always warns her friends if Honchkrow is right behind them, so that they can protect their snacks and avoid getting pecked at. Sometimes he's a good boy and will try to preen their hair or give them little gifts (like a stick or a rock), but they know he's just trying to butter them up for extra treats. Nemona falls for it every time, and has a small collection of all the gifts he's given her.

Seviper was found in a boggy, muddy area with lots of Wooper and Clodsire. She looks scary with her huge fangs and blade-like tail, and her venom is something not to be messed around with, as Nina would tell you from first-hand experience. But behind all that poison is a sweet danger-noodle who loves to be pampered and wants to be your friend. Seviper's the type who's content to curl up and be with people no matter what they're doing. You could be watching paint dry and she'll still want to hang out with you. She also loves getting baths so her black scales can look nice and shiny in the sun. Kieran's probably the only other person who's the most comfortable around her, and he lets her hang out in his dorm during study sessions.

Corviknight was found just outside of Mesagoza, right when Nina started her Treasure Hunt journey off campus. As a Rookidee, he'd been injured in the wild, and Nina was quick to take him in after she nursed him back to health. She didn't expect him to be absolutely huge for a Corviknight when he evolved, nearly as tall as a Mudsdale. His sheer size, battle scars, and menacing red eyes can be off-putting at first, and his protective nature can frighten those who don't know him that well. He's closely bonded to his Trainer after she saved his life, and won't hesitate to jump into the fray to protect her from harm, no matter how big or small the perceived threat is. He's slow to trust other people, but once that trust is earned, he reveals a more relaxed and gentler side, and will even protect them too without a second thought.

Being from Galar, Penny has a soft spot for Corviknight, as he reminds her of home. She loves to give him baths and knows how to make his metallic armor and feathers look extra shiny.

Nina chose Fuecoco as her starter Pokemon in Paldea. She loved the little guy! She would often sing along with it, at least until she noticed someone was watching her...

Nina's singing skill is average, and she gets super embarrassed when she's caught doing it in front of other people, even if they're her close friends. But her Fuecoco taught her to enjoy it more, and she wants to get better at it so she can feel more comfortable about singing in public.

(She won't admit this openly, but she also wants to get better at singing so she can impress Kieran...)

Arven loves to tease her about it when he catches her in the act, and sometimes calls her a Squawkabilly. It gets her riled up every time.

What is Nina's type specialty? Team make up? Does she have a favorite on her team?

When Nina started her first year as a student in Paldea's Academy, she didn't exactly have a solid type she could decide on specializing in...

That is, until she became acquainted with Dark and Poison type Pokemon.

She isn't sure what drew her to working with them in particular. Most people tend to avoid Dark and Poison Types, particularly the latter because of how dangerous they can be to humans. Despite the risks and some of the stigma, Nina enjoys working with these misunderstood Pokemon. She admires their intelligence and resilience, and how they can turn even the worst situations to their favor both in nature and on the battlefield.

While both types are a recurring theme in her team, she has a few Pokemon that aren't either type at all, but they are able to learn Dark and Poison moves.

Her primary team make up is this:

Corviknight, Noivern, Honchkrow, Houndoom, Seviper, and Arbok.

She's also worked closely with Mudsdale, Krookodile, Paldean Tauros (Blaze Breed), and Zebstrika, and rotates them into her team on occasion.

Out of all of these Pokemon, Corviknight has always been her ace in battles. She nursed him back to health when she found him as a little lost Rookidee injured in the wild, and they've been close buddies ever since.

So far it looks like I'll be doing all my character development stuff for my Pokemon Trainer OC here on my personal blog. I'm glad there are folks out there who want to get to know her!

On that note, can anyone point me in the direction of some blogs that are for Pokemon OC prompts and questions? While I know some OC question blogs, I haven't had much luck finding question prompts for Pokemon OCs specifically.

My inbox is open to any asks you may want to send about Nina, maybe send some basic ones to get me started like questions about her Type Specialty, her Team, etc?

I do apologize in advance if I'm a bit slow to answer. I want to give good-quality answers but I also have chronic pain in my hands.

I'll be mainly focusing on Scarlet and Violet as well as the DLC storylines (Teal Mask, Indigo Disk, and Mochi Mayhem).

I've been on a big Pokemon kick lately, particularly with the Scarlet and Violet games and I've never really given this blog (or any blog really) a chance to be used for some character development.

I do have a Pokemon Trainer OC, and I've had a lot of ideas for her swirling around in my mind for days. I'll be honest though: I'm actually a bit nervous talking about her... I guess my main concern is that I don't want to annoy anyone by gushing about my ideas/headcanons/etc.

I know, I know, this IS a personal blog and technically I can post whatever I want on it, and I do feel happier sharing my creative side with other people. But I want to be considerate, you know?

I'm wondering if I should set up a separate side blog for this sort of thing, though I've only ever used a primary blog. I don't know if the posting/reblogging limitations are the same for side blogs as they were in the past.

This is something I want to have fun with, but I also want others to enjoy it, too.

Would this be something anyone is interested in? Sending asks would also be a big help, though I'll be sure to find some OC question blogs for prompts, too.

The poll below is just something to give me an idea of how many people might be interested.
