I love how Arakawa clearly wrote detailed backstories for her characters and just like… never elaborates on them. I found an old interview where she was asked why she didn’t include a resolution for Hawkeye and Mustangs goals and her response was essentially “cause this story is about Ed :)”

She’s my biggest inspiration.

Me. I will sit on high-speed rail for fifteen hours. I’ll sit on it for days. I’ll write and read and nap and eat and then do it all over again. I’ll stare out the windows and see America from ground level and not have to drive. I’ll see the Rockies and the deserts and cornfields and the Mississippi River and your house and yours and yours too. I’ll make up stories in my head about the small towns I see as we go along. I’ll see the states I’ve yet to see because driving or flying there is a fucking slog and expensive to boot. I’ll enjoy the ride as much as the destination. And then I’ll do it all over again to come the fuck home.

A villain with luscious hair. That thing where the protagonist reaches towards the sun and closes their fist over it and then the scene transitions to all the friends they made along the way, one of who is a crab chef that wears an apron with a little heart on it.

The more AI we get the more surreal travel destinations will pop up that can’t possibly be real but we won’t be able to disprove all of them so we’ll end up back when they had those world maps with all those sea monsters drawn in the water like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ maybe Marty the Mermaid lives here, idk, you gotta come out here and see
