"Light reading is in the eye of the beholder," she commented with a wave of her hands. Golden-brown eyes flicked down to her empty hands and her shoulders bounced in a shrug. "Just arrived. I'm trying to see how much I can get away with. And then really remind my husband how much he loves me."
Arlo laughed, nodding his head. “Yeah, if you consider seven books light.” He looked at her empty hands. “Just arrived at the store then or do you not carry around your entire reading list?”

Antiquing was a bit like gambling; in some cases, Avery was able to find incredible pieces. Most often than not, there was junk. Even a Fine Arts degree didn't make her an expert. Her apartment didn't hold a lot of free space, but she was certain her husband would be happy to make an exception when she showed him. The massive shelf would be an excellent addition.
Avery recognized a familiar head of dark hair when poking her head down the chair aisle and a bright smile tugged at her lips. She gave a quick wave. "Hey, long time no see," she signed in greeting.

Afterlife Antiques
When he had first started unpacking, Owen had thought he to much stuff but as he started to move it into different rooms, he was quickly realizing that he didn't have enough. Sure, he had plenty from his apartment but now with a few more extra rooms, they were looking rather sparse, and he wanted to fix that. Figuring that the antique was the best place to find unique and interesting pieces, not quite for sure what his actual taste was when it came to decorating. To not overwhelm himself, Owen figured to do it room by room and the first was starting with the library. He had a small bedroom with a built in bookcase so naturally he knew he needed to make it as cozy as possible. Making his way through the chair section, looking for the perfect oversized chair to fit into the room. His eyes scanning as he walked around, only looking up when he saw movement out of the corner of his eye. Greeting the person who had made their way over to the section as well with a warm smile.

With how hot warm the weather had become, Avery had taken solace in the closest cafe. Ordinarily, her go-to was a strawberry bubble tea with green apple pearls, but with them out of the strawberry tea, she was forced to come up with another order. As a creature of habit, it was her idea of hell.
Her tongue swept over a full lower lip as she looked over the other flavors. Perhaps watermelon tea? She didn't know.
A male's voice spoke up next to her and she cast him a look. Passion fruit? Now there was an idea.
"I don't think I've ever tried passion fruit before," she remarked and accepted the large cup from him. "I'd love it, thank you. Can I buy you a croissant or something to make up for it?"
alexei had ordered his favorite – a large passion fruit bubble tea. while he was a major fan of hot tea, this version of a cold one was winning his heart over. the only problem was that the worker gave him two large passion fruit bubble tea’s, not one, and after informing her she gave him an extra, she just waved it off and told him to keep it. he could barely finish one of these, let alone two, and he didn’t want it to go to waste, so the only fair thing seemed to be to offer it to someone else. ❝hi.❞ he tells the nearest bystander, his usual shy smile coming onto his lips, as it was difficult for him to talk to people ( his social skills were a work in progress ). ❝the worker gave me an extra passion fruit bubble tea, do you perhaps want the other one?❞ he asks, british accent radiating a hint of a timid undertone. otherwise, it would probably have to ( unfortunately ) go in the garbage.

BIOGRAPHY:
Scott and Melissa Wilder were told they couldn't have any children after the birth of their youngest son. Lo and behold, Avery Sage came into the world a few years later. Her mother liked to joke that she learned through a fifty-four hour labor that there was no making her do something she didn't want to do.
Scott's family had lived in Denver for the past four generations, on a sprawling working cattle ranch just outside of town. The family business boasted 637 acres, along with an "equine retreat", though Avery often referred to it as a dude ranch.
While her family had skills with ranching, Avery was a rising star with anything involving a horse. She competed in rodeos and various shows, including show jumping and dressage. She attended camps and was trained under the finest coaches with the hopes of joining the US Equestrian Team. During one of her qualifying shows, a jealous competitor sabotaged her saddle and it caused Avery to crash the jump. What followed was the longest two years of her life.
Doctors told Avery she would likely never walk normally again, but she took it as a challenge. She took the surgeries and the physical therapy in stride in hopes of proving everyone wrong. While she was able to walk, she lost everything she had ever worked for. Art had been a hobby of hers, but during rehab, she threw herself into it. After graduating from rehab, she applied for SCAD (Savannah College of Art & Design) in Georgia and continued her hard work.
With her parents' blessing, she eventually decided to transfer to École Nationale Supérieure deus Beaux-Arts in Paris and it was there that she met Chris Sanders. While Avery was considered an extremely careful individual, it all went out the window when she met him. Within a few months, they not only traveled together, they ended up getting married. After getting over the initial shock, the Wilder family accepted their new in-law with open arms.
Things have become somewhat strained with Avery and her family since her homecoming to Denver. Instead of her taking over the family dude ranch, she decided to pursue her career as an artist.

As You Wish had quickly become one of Avery's preferred places to shop for books. Social media had done it again and she was back to pick up three more books she had seen. Her TBR was already miles long and it was on her to-do list to ask Chris to build her yet another shelf in their apartment.
She had just rounded the corner to see she wasn't exactly alone in the romance section. "Doing a little light reading?" she commented.
who: open; @chqstarter
where: as you wish book shop
Arlo had been in this shop too long and he didn’t need his watch to tell him that, but the pile of books in his hands. He had a bad habit of doing this. He could never just casually shop in a bookstore. He was in an aisle with their more spicy books when he looked up at the other. “Oh, I was, uh, looking for something…” He trailed off realizing he sounded embarrassed, but it’s not like they caught him here. “Are you just browsing?”
