4/29/1989: Jon Bon Jovi shocked the world by secretly eloping with his high school sweet heart, Dorothea Hurley. Back in high school, Bon Jovi was not making the best grades in history class so what did he do? He charmed Dorothea into helping him cheat. She'd let him copy her homework and even take a peak at her test answers.
Back when the pair met, Bon Jovi was just a normal high school kid but Dorothea knew he was something special. She would go around and tell all their classmates that her boyfriend was going to be a rockstar to which they'd sarcastically reply "good luck with that".
Little did Dorothea's classmates know, in a few years time, they along with the rest of the world would be belting out Jon Bon Jovi songs. Songs that would hit #1 on the chart.
The couple got married in 1989 at a secret wedding in Vegas. How did they make this decision? Well, after getting news of a #1 album, Bon Jovi looked at Dorothea and said "I need a higher high—I got an idea. Let’s go to Vegas now." & that was that.
When Bon Jovi's manager found out the two had secretly eloped.... well, he let Bon Jovi know that he wasn't happy. He was furious. In his eyes "America's boy" was now married. He worried Bon Jovi would lose female fans along with his Bachelor status. Clearly, that didn't mess with Bon Jovi and Dorothea's marriage as the couple is celebrating 35 years today.

The International Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, August 1970.
On August 4, 1969, following the success of his Las Vegas show in July that year, Elvis Presley signed a contract for a residency at the International Hotel. It was his residency venue for the next seven years, culminating with his final show at the resort in December 1976. Elvis performed 636 sold-out performances at the International Hotel, which became the Hilton before becoming Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in 2014.
