I never took credit..

👉 When we first moved out, it was Aaron who provided, while I became a housewife.

👉 When we built our first house, it was Aaron’s savings that shouldered the initial construction costs.

👉 And when we bought our first car, it was Aaron who paid for it.

You see, my husband earns more than I do. So he gets to save more and do the bigger purchases.

So I created this idea in my head that all we have right now is mostly HIS.

But the other night during bedtime, he asked me why I never take credit or ownership with the things we have as a family.

Then he said..

💬 “Di mo ba alam na if it weren’t for you, wala lahat ng ‘to?”

I got a bit confused when I heard it. Kasi nga para sakin mas malaki ambag nya. 🤷‍♀️

Then he mentioned an episode from the Modern Family about the Dreamer and the Realist..

To him, I’m the dreamer, he’s the realist.

✨I’m the problem FINDER who comes up with all the possible solutions we could do — whether we afford it or not. While he’s the problem SOLVER who does things in the most achievable ways.

He then enumerated some of our milestones as a family..

👉 The moment I considered moving out, he doubted it was a smart move, given our income that time. He was worried na wala kaming maiipon. But I pushed forward and helped him realize na kaya naman pala namin.

👉 When we were planning to have our first home, I insisted on investing in professional design kahit mahal. Now we enjoy a beautiful and well-engineered house. Which also gave us peace of mind of having a sturdy home.

👉 During the start of our self-work journey, I was able to introduce possibilities that helped expand our mental wallet and perspective in life. At the same time, he keeps me grounded from having the shiny object syndrome. 🙈

👉 And then he started to double and triple his income. And said it was from all the encouragement and support I gave when the opportunities came. So that’s how we got to afford a car earlier than we expected.

At times, we see a family member’s worth by tangible contributions — like finances.

But from this conversation with my husband, I realized that the visions, aspirations, and dreams are as important.

Because the dreamers help the realists by taking them off the ground.

While the realists balance out the dreamers by keeping them from the risk of life’s unpredictable ventures.

Life would be boring without the dreamers, and it would probably be messy without the realists.

You see how beautiful it is to complement each other? To keep the balance?

So if you’re someone who often compares how much you provide to your partner, I hope you take a moment to realize that you may be giving more than what you think.

📌 You both need each other EQUALLY. No matter what happens. It’s not a competition.

And the most important thing here is the trust we place in ourselves and in our partners, that we can overcome anything when we wholeheartedly commit and support each other.

You have your own dynamic in this relationship and ONLY BOTH OF YOU are in charge of that.

So to the realists out there, may you find your dreamers. 💖

And to my fellow dreamers, just keep dreaming. Because that’s our gift. And may you find that one person who will love, accept, and keep you from soaring too near the sun. ☀️

I don’t befriend people or date people who have things I want to change about them. I let people into my life who I don’t need to change. I don’t save people. And I don’t change people. I don’t see potential in friends and lovers. I see them for how they are right now.

Like if A, B and C is what you are giving me then that’s what I’ll believe you are. If you don’t like me believing that you are A, B and C, then give me something else.

I think some get so caught up in how they want things to be and how things could be which is good to dream and manifest to an extent but in order for things to really change, you also need to look at things for how they are right now. A dream is just a dream without the do.

This can apply to a lot.

This isn’t me saying you have to be a perfect person. All the people I love in my life currently all have traumas and baggage. And me too.

I believe those who are capable of change are those who have found their reason to change. their reason acts as a motivation that pushes them to make a consistent conscientious effort to do better. their reason has become more valuable to them than their way of life before.

a lot of people who have struggled with addictive habits may not change until experiencing a very serious health scare & sometimes even that is not enough. others have changed for love. others for their children. others for their parents. it all depends on that persons “reason”.

“where there’s a will, there’s a way.” a lot of times, change is about finding that will.

I hope the universe doesn't find it selfish if I choose to celebrate little victories on my own. When I choose to keep the good stories to myself, and the tears inside my pocket as I sit somewhere random and just take it all in. I just know I deserve the loudest congratulations I can give myself—peace. A moment to mourn the beautiful things I had to let go, a pat on the back for braving through so many things that weighed so much and changed me.

I hope it's alright to take my time for as long as I want to, and to always keep reminding myself how it felt like the odds were never in my favor, but I kept going, anyway.

Somewhere out there, I hope the stars are proud of my wins. I know I am.
