Makuta Gali

I’ve been rereading bionicle Chronicles novels and noticing some interesting tidbits that led me to an au/headcanon that Gali is not just a Toa of Water.

Gali seems to have intriguing abilities that make her stand apart from her brothers.

She has telepathy/mind reading abilities (link with Takua, Kopaka feels unease around Gali and under her gaze, expressing that it feels like she can see through him, Onua notices that she “can all but read others’ thoughts at times”),

She claims she has incredible amount of power (”Toa, if the Great Beings see fit to restore my energies to me … I may one day show you what power really is.” Gali to Tahu, Chronicles #4 “Tales of the Masks”),

Krika says “You would have made a good Makuta, Gali. You are far too clever to be a Toa.” ,

In a Dark Mirror dimension she oversees reeducation center with Karzahni (seems like an odd combo at first glance but maybe there’s more to it).

That led me to multiple interpretations of Gali being something more than mere Toa, which include:

Gali as The Great Being

Gali as something other/eldritch

Gali as Makuta (only instead of Shadow she still has water)

Gali as actually Toa of Psionics (And all her Water ‘bending’ is just her using telekinesis)

Gali as fusion of Toa of Water and Psionics

My design tries to capture/apply to at least a few of these interpretations. She wears Golden Armor, which grants her all 42 kraata powers, and changes her overall colorscheme to match what Toa of Psionics or a fusion of Water and Psionics Toa might look like. I also added octopus tentacles and manta ray ‘skirt’ to make her appear as either more ‘other’ or closer to what a Makuta might look like.

Kayos turned 14 today yay! (living in my head rent-free since april 13th 2009)

Enjoy some lore, perceive the manwhore.

Kayos is the first Shakratu to be created. He was designed to be a vanguard of The Brotherhood's will in matters that could not be solved by usual methods they employed.

He is empowered by elemental Shadow, like all Shakratu are. He has another unique element as a result of a mistake during his creation: a destructive cloud of particles, capable of corroding metal and making organic material rapidly decay.

Kayos preferred to use this power sparingly, instead relying on his physical strength, cunning, and charm. Efficiency and subterfuge would be of secondary concern if he could goad his opponents into a fight, or seduce them. He would toy with his prey, enjoying the thrills of combat or pleasures of flesh, chasing the adrenaline high.

Kayos favors greatswords as his weapons of choice. The one he carries with him allows him to channel his shadow powers into the blade, augmenting the slashes with even more lethality. Despite that, he uses shadow more for stealth and misdirection, as his raw physical strength is enough to contend with most opponents. Even without a weapon, he's a skilled combatant in hand-to-hand, using the environment to his advantage.

Nowadays, Kayos is the current ruler of the land of Karzahni, taking on Karzahni's original responsibilities. He provides refuge and solace for forsaken and outcasts, and mends their broken minds, souls, and bodies, with the help of his court. He is more successful than original Karzahni, and is generally respected and beloved by his subjects.
