Artist's Bio
Born Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Joy T. Campsie always found a calling for art from a young age. Being raised in Macae, a small town in the North of the state of Rio de Janeiro, brought her close to the beach and nature. This connection has continuously influenced her and is reflected in her artwork.
Campsie enjoys using various types of media as she’s always been interested in exploring new ways to express her creative vision. However, her favourite and most frequent medium so far is oil paint. Campsie enjoys the lack of permeance within the medium that gives her the opportunity to change her mind if she doesn’t like something about the painting.
Joy T Campsie sees art as a way to express her emotions through colours, landscapes, shapes and people. She believes that even the most painful emotions she carries can be transformed in something beautiful with art.
She started professionally focusing on studying art once she moved to Scotland at the age of 18. This is where Joy decided to apply for North East Scotland College to study art & Design level 6, and continued studying there the following year for the HNC Contemporary Art. The journey at the college really helped her with figuring out what she wants to portray with her art, what she wants to achieve and communicate. Campsie continues to work towards expressing herself in new ways through art everyday and hopes to reach viewers through her work.
