moments are spent just staring at her. hopefully she doesn't catch him, but if she does he would never meant for her to catch him so vulnerable. losing her may as well have cost joel his own life. it would have if tommy hadn't been there to keep a gun out of his mouth. even now that she is standing in front of him, joel still can't believe it. years and years were spent reliving the nightmare of that night. sarah died in his arms but they couldn't stay long with the infected and military killing anything that moves, tommy had to drag joel away from his daughter's lifeless body. it still baffles him how she could be here. he shakes his head in response. talking about everything he felt and did after that is not going to happen. ❝ that's right. you're here now. that's all that matters now, darlin'. and no one will ever separate us again. ❞

the abandoned house that the smuggler has found himself in has long been looted of whatever contents might be useful. quiet curses leave his lips knowing he can't exactly come back empty handed and the rest of the street has been looted to hell. just when he decides he's finished with this place there comes a sound from out towards the back. the hammer pulled back on his revolver very carefully and joel readies himself for whatever or WHOEVER may be lurking.

the years haven't exactly been kind to him and these days his age is showing. not that he'll let that stop him from doing anything, but what she's talking about might be a little above his pay grade. ❝ you wanna go up that way and break yer neck then don't let me stop ya, but i'll take my chances down here. ❞ not an admission that his knees aren't what they used to be but reading between the lines shouldn't be too hard. anywhere they go there's always the risk of danger and he's dealt with it all in one way or another. @erobret might be able to get thee high ground. maybe it wouldn't be too bad of an idea to split up. all the smuggler knows is that he's not arguing about this.
