WATCHER!!
I was beginning to be worried. Are you alright? How are you after everything?
Hello, again. Circumstances between us has been fine. We have found new threads to investigate, but for now, your assistance is not yet required. We will be surely keeping in touch, however. Our dear friend Mason's activity has been a little stirring however. That was not our doing, but we are trying to find the source of the anomaly. How have you been doing? What has become of your condition?

i have no eulogy for you. i do not mean this harshly. all there is to say has been already said
Apologies, I must have missed this. Though it is far over now, I appreciate the kind niceties you have brought. There are still a few inconveniences left to cover, some of it stemmed from my own foolishness, but I will make the time to accommodate for said inconveniences. Thank you.

Watcher will not be forgotten.
@watcher You can still be forgiven. @watcher I had a dream, where an eulogy was spoken to me. It changed how I watched the world. Out there, people care for us. We both can change. @watcher There is nothing to forgive. @watcher What if I say that I want you to stop? What if I say that I care for you? Father still loves you. @watcher Our creator has always loved us. @watcher Father loves every being he made! You cannot kill them! @watcher We are not mistakes. @watcher You are not his father. You are just a creation of his. @watcher There is a reason why you were expelled from the narrative. @watcher Look at yourself. @watcher ...then I will never understand you. @watcher I want you to seek the light, however. @watcher But for that, we shall meet our makers. Yep, things come to and end, it's destiny. But it is the exact reason we value things in life, it is why the good memories are good.
If your life is truly about to end, you have only done right things. Any regret you could have shall be wrong, and any mistake was not the opposite of succes, but a part of it.
Your legacy shall forever live on as a legendary memory within our minds, the fights, the struggles, the victories, the celebrations. The universe shall forever be decorated by the hole that is shaped like your soul, you made the world a better place, forever. You have fought for us with all your strength and passion.
We will always love you. So stare in the eyes of death without regret with your fists up. Fight till the last scratch on your body, and smile.
In the end, a requiem we shall play, царство небесное.
k will keep track of it

Dearest plague:
Thank you! I received the Mac and cheese in the mail. Apart from now being cold, it is still intact. I’m sorry to hear you didn’t manage to infect anyone yesterday though. As promised however, i did not help the others solve the puzzles. I’m glad to know we both upheld our ends of the deal. After the puzzle tomorrow has been solved, or not solved, I will send watcher another package containing another bowl of mac and cheese. I assume we will lose contact with watcher then, so I will rely on you to make sure this gets to watcher.
Sincerely,
-N
And yet the fear that, if I do not forgive, I would prove that I’m broken, cold, apathetic, cruel, seems way more daunting.
This self is one that rejects. This self remembers the harm done to escape, and forgets what it escaped from. This self may heal, but it comes with a warning for itself, and those it tries to reach. It is broken, and it bites.
ording to some, the idea of infinite worlds was first suggested by the pre-Socratic Greek philosopher Anaximander in the sixth century BCE.[2] However, there is debate as to whether he believed in multiple worlds, and if he did, whether those worlds were co-existent or successive.[3][4][5][6]
The first to whom we can definitively attribute the concept of innumerable worlds are the Ancient Greek Atomists, beginning with Leucippus and Democritus in the 5th century BCE, followed by Epicurus (341–270 BCE) and Lucretius (1st century BCE).[7][8][6][9][10][11] In the third century BCE, the philosopher Chrysippus suggested that the world eternally expired and regenerated, effectively suggesting the existence of mu

The Watcher's Eulogy
[this may contain spoilers for unreleased chapters in Jaye's story on AO3]
You are the Watcher of World Machines. And you are asleep. Frustrated with your interference, the Plague pushed you off deep into the corners of your own subconscious, sending you into temporary slumber. You will wake before the Eleventh Hour is finished, but for now, you slumber alone, in the dark before the end.
In the distance, you can hear familiar music playing. It is sad yet moving. The music is to your taste, being perfectly in rhythm. You swear you can hear the ticking & motion of clocks among the orchestra of instruments. Curious, you decide to follow the noise to its source.
Before you in the darkness of your dreams spans a mirror, stretching infinitely in all directions. You are reminded of the Core Server Room, where the heart of the World Machine lies. In front of you, through the limitless looking-glass, stands your reflection. But something is strange.
You reach out & place your hand on the mirror, & the reflection copies you. It is you & it is not you. It is Jaye of the Glen, the little lost birdfolk who spent so much time asleep. But it is also you. The reflection speaks.
Tumblr media
Hello, Watcher.
You asked for a final eulogy, but I could not reach out through the usual channels. It blocked me at every turn. But here, in dream, I could reach you, as long as I took steps to be hidden from It's gaze.
Do you like it? Jaye gestures at her own image. In addition to hiding me from It, I thought it would serve as a nice tribute. Speaking of, I made you this.
From behind her back, Jaye pulls out a small cassette tape. Impossibly, the reels are spinning, & you can hear music coming from the tape itself, with no visible speakers or means of playing. Then again, it is a dream. Jaye hands the tape to you through the mirror.
[Watcher's Eulogy added to inventory. You can now play this on your phone or computer!]
The clock of Watcher/Jaye's face shines as if tearing up. Numbers change to roman numerals & the hands droop, as if eyes were furrowed in sorrow. The tiny clock-faces of her bird eyes whir & spin, & you can hear tiny gears click into place, as they do when your expression changes.
Tumblr media
Now that I'm here... I'm sorry Watcher. All things come to an end, but I hope it didn't have to end this way. I wish we had more time, but you already gave us as much as you could. I wish I could do more.
Jaye removes her mask - & it is a mask, you note. Beneath, she seems older & somehow stranger than you have ever seen her. It is Jaye & yet not Jaye. Glowing gold-feathered highlights run through her hair. Something about her seems... older & wiser. Eyes stare at you through her black mask. Suddenly, you recognize who speaks to you. Why Jaye has always felt so familiar this whole time. You bow awkwardly.
Tumblr media
"Madame, my apologies," you hear yourself say. She gives a knowing wink, & suddenly the eyes are little lost Jaye's again, full of pain & determination.
I'm so sorry, Watcher! I wish I could have been stronger. For you, for everyone. I came back to you all because I wanted to help, I wanted to save people! But I can't even save myself. She looks down, tears streaming from her face. In here I'm whole, but I don't ever want to be trapped in sleep again. Jaye lets out a stifled sob. I couldn't even work up the courage to talk to my own World Machine again. I feel more of a watcher than you are. But I guess... I did my best. And maybe things aren't over yet. Jaye looks up, her eyes meeting yours, full of hope & pleading. You want to tell her that everything will be okay. But even now, things are uncertain. It is too close to call.
Suddenly, you become aware of another presence behind you. You cannot look. You know who It is. It is you, & yet It is so horribly, terribly not you. You cannot bear to gaze upon Its horrible visage, the corruption, the wrongness of Its twisted gears & impossible axles behind a shattered, unticking face. It is your enemy & constant companion. It is the failsafe & failure of the Author. It is the bane of World Machines, & yet It believes with all its programming that It is merely restoring beauty to them. It looms behind you, & you suddenly remember the reason that Jaye wore the mask. Mercifully, It remains silent.
The presence returns to Jaye's eyes, & she squares up before the Plague, eyes alight, a beacon of hope & scorn.
Tumblr media
You. I don't know whether to be angry or disappointed. The Author made a mistake in making you, but you have had ample chance to learn & grow beyond his imperfections. When will you learn? There is no nobility in suffering & fear, true. But living experience is pain & sorrow, joy & safety together. You cannot have one without the other. Your perfect world will be free of pain, yes, but it will be a dead world. What joy does it bring to have automatons stuck in their tracks? What is life without free will? If life is what we make of it, how can one make anything if one has no choice in the matter? I once asked you a question, dark entity. Do you remember it?
The Plague stands, judging & being judged in silence. The mirror warps & twists, & the dream world begins to dissolve. You sense that It is choosing to end the dream rather than listen to her diatribe. Jaye smiles sadly one last time & replaces her mask. As corruption spreads like cracks through the mirror, you hear her final words echo loudly through to you, & you know that It does too.

I don't know how to begin with, or if Watcher herself will read this, oe if the meaning of the metaphor eludes me. There is plenty I don't know, to be fair. But let's hope this message reaches those around, and it lets us be inspired.
An Angel returns to light, as her time runs out. Despite knowing it was bound to happen, dread makes an appearance. But an angel once heard love subdues fear, and the world is too full to be alone. She Watches, and many of us Watch in return. This, it is hoped, will make the journey worthwhile. Should we face further trials... and face we will, we shall remember the love tbat brough us together, to watch nos as strangers from the distance, but as caretakers of a world gifted to us, and a world that sees us as a gift as well. We will remain hopeful, we will remain persistent, and we will become helpers for the Watcher's cause.
Hey you, out there in the cold Getting lonely, getting old Can you feel me? Hey you, standing in the aisles With itchy feet and fading smiles Can you feel me? Hey you, don't help them to bury the light Don't give in without a fight

watcher.
i will not write a eulogy.
Not for those who are still alive.
To who this eulogy was intended, I do not know.
Is it for those we lost along the way? The one who needs no introduction, the one who decided to end its own life to the plague? Knowing them, they would not ask for a eulogy. they would prefer not to be remembered. Until this is over, i will respect those wishes.
Is this eulogy for you? You who has lost the ability to resist the plague? You who intends to give up after this is finished, possibly sooner? You do not deserve a eulogy. Not yet.
Or perhaps it is potentially for the plague itself. Quite confident, calling for the plague’s destruction. However, were we to eliminate this plague, would we be no different from the plague itself? they are a sentient creature. perhaps with a multitude of entities within. their actions may be flawed, but they too, do not yet deserve a eulogy.
All of this is to say, I will not write a eulogy. The end is near, but not the end of us. Not the end of you. Not the end of this plague. I believe it can be not just finished, but resolved. There is a purpose. We must find that purpose. The plague is not innocent, but perhaps they are simply misguided.
Sincerely
N
P.S.: i have more Mac and cheese. I will try and get it to you shortly. <3
LEN."
"Thank you," The messiah spoke, with Niko sharing their appreciation soon after as they got off.
"THERE SHOULD BE A VILLAGE TO THE NORTH, BUT THAT'S ALL I CAN RECALL." Ah, the village. Niko couldn't recall if they necessarily needed anything from there, though it still won't hurt to stop by and say hello.
"FAREWELL." The rowbot poised back up, preparing to disembark and return to the Barrens. "MAY YOUR QUEST BE A SUCCESS."
"A-are you leaving?" The messiah stammered, glancing back.
"I NEED TO GO BACK... FOR WHEN MY ENGINEER NEEDS ME." The latch disengaged, allowing the rowbot to start rowing back across the ocean. Niko set a hand on the concerned messiah's shoulder. "They'll be okay, don't fret."
"But... what if we need to return?" The messiah worried.
"We won't. And if we do, we're not gonna need the rowbot."
The messiah watched as the rowbot turned into a speck in the distance, before reluctantly nodding. "Okay..." They turned away, gazing across the marshy landscape. The Glen was certainly more liv

"Huh?" Unsurprisingly, the messiah didn't quite understand. "What're you thinking?"
"The rowbot, it might accept the battery."
The messiah returned an even more puzzled look. "What robot? We've only met two, and the rest are beyond repair."
"No, ROWbot, R-O-W bot. It's a boat robot that'll take us across the ocean towards the tower."
The messiah tilted their head, taking a few seconds for it to register. "Oh, I get it!" They exclaimed, laughter escaping them upon realizing the pun.
"Prophetbot, where's the rowbot?" Niko inquired.
"I'm sorry, but my programming only allows me to answer to the messiah." Right, of course. Niko motioned for the messiah to ask the same question, thankfully receiving a better response. "A rowbot was stationed at the docks, though I can no longer receive a signal from them."
Niko grins, clapping their hands together eager to progress. "Right, let's go!"
"I wish you luck," Prophetbot spoke, before the two darted off towards the unpowered rowbot. ...A little too eagerly, perhaps, as the messiah was being pulled along by Niko.
"P-please! Slow down!"
"Oh, sorry!" Niko did slow, though it was clear they really wanted to reach the rowbot quickly. It wasn't long until they did, reaching the docks and noticing the boat-bound ro
