" evidently a joke to try and lighten mood as eyes search frantically for anything he can use to get them out of sticky situation . but he fails . he fails . despite brain rushing at a million miles an hour , genius seems completely lost as to what to do . quickly on his knees , hands find one of rory's , holding them tight between callous fingers . " rory , i promise you i'll get you out of this . but i need you to trust me . i need to go and turn the machine off , but it's in the other room . " words come out filled with an annoyance he hadn't planned on portraying , which is perhaps why next sentence is coated with a more resigned tone , careful not to be too upset .
