Bill Murray once took a cab and found out the driver played the saxophone but never got to practice because he worked 14-hour days. So…
BM: “I said, ‘When do you practice?’”
Cabbie: “I drive 14 hours a day.”
BM: “Well, where’s your sax?”
Cabbie: “In the trunk.”
BM: “Pull over and get in the back, I know how to drive a car. ”
“Not only did he play all the way to Sausalito, which is a long way, we stopped and got barbecue. He [wound up] playing in what some would call a sketchy, weird place in Oakland at 2:15 in the morning. I was like, ‘Relax, man, you’ve got the [bleeping] horn! We’re cool!’ And it was great and it made for a beautiful night!”

The band Blink 182 named their holding company Poo Poo Butt Inc. They chose that name because it was the “most immature, dumbest thing ever,” and said “We thought it would be funny to have our accountants, managers, and attorneys having to say that over the phone every day.” Source

hitchBOT uses human kindness to travel the world. Relying solely on strangers to pick it up and then leave it behind for other friendly drivers, hitchBOT crossed Canada in just 26 days and successfully toured through Germany. In the US, it attempted to travel from Salem, MA, to San Francisco- but lasted just 2 weeks before it was found decapitated and armless on the streets of Philadelphia. Source Source 2 Source 3

You’re an interesting species. An interesting mix. You’re capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you’re not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we’ve found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other.
Carl Sagan. (via startalkradio)

“To make this journey, we’ll need imagination, but imagination alone is not enough, because the reality of nature is far more wondrous than anything we can imagine.”
These are just a few of the beautiful visual effects from Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey
