Wendy's ‘Deliver’ the news consumers were waiting for
Wendy’s one of the oldest restaurant chains has announced their plans to bring the way their customers order food into the modern age with their new delivery options.
After years of operation Wendy’s has opted to start catering to the growing needs of on demand consumer delivery. Wendy’s have revealed their plans to bring on board two new delivery partners, namely Uber Eats, and GrubHub before the end of the year. Currently Wendy’s has an exclusivity agreement with another big name in delivery, DoorDash, but now that Wendy’s have updated their technology systems, a spokesperson has said the company are in a position to bring on board more delivery partners and increase sales and in turn profits.
“Wendy’s, has always been a chain who has built a reputation for having dine in customers and drive thru facilities, are now breaking into the home delivery market” the spokesperson said. In addition to the enhancements to their phone app, it is believed that digital sales for the company could break over 10% of the company’s total business by 2024. As it stands, digital ordering for the company accounts for only 2%, a far cry from other competitors in the fast food industry.
With this move, Wendy’s would be the next big name restaurant chain to expand their delivery options moving in to the New Year. Notably Burger King have announced their move to deliver through Uber Eats, however a spokesperson for Burger King did explain that GrubHub will remain their primary delivery partner, under a preexisting agreement between the companies. McDonald’s also added DoorDash to their delivery partners in July of this year, after dropping Uber Eats.

G.E to halt pensions, Bulls have the lead on SmileDirectClub, PCG Deadline approaching
Here are just a few companies that Walter International will be watching for you over the next few weeks.
General Electric have announced that they will be freezing pensions for over 20,000 of their American employees with salaried benefits, in a bid to reduce the companies mounting debt. The move by the company is set to also affect supplementary pension benefits for a further 700 workers. With this plan set to move ahead, GE have said this could benefit in reducing the company’s pension deficit by almost $8 Billion USD. Over the course of the last month GE shares have been seeing a decline with more negative press coming from the company.
In other news, Analysts around the world are gripping a bullish stance on SmileDirectClub, who recently faced a rocky start with their IPO. A large number of analyst recommendations have been released this week, with Guggenheim, Citi, Bank of America, and Jeffries giving the company’s shares a buy rating. Most bullish on this stock is JP Morgan, who has set a $31 USD price target on the shares, with most others placing their targets in the range of $18-$24.
A fast approaching deadline surrounding compensation is around the corner for Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Victims of 2018’s Californian wild fires, have only three weeks left to file damage claims against the company. A large number of citizens have already filed their claims for money from the Utility companies bankruptcy, however a further 70,000 people are set to be eligible for compensation, and have not filed a claim.

Could Cronos Group be looking to buy troubled pot stock CannTrust Holdings?
As investors it is an extremely likely scenario, that in the next ten years we will look back on the cannabis industry as the greatest growth opportunity of our generation. Looking at the figures, Cannabis produced a relatively small $3.4 Billion USD in worldwide sales in 2014, and just last year that number was over $11 Billion USD, almost 300 percent in four short years. However looking forward over the next decade the growth of the cannabis industry is set to take off. With Canada being one of the first countries to make the move to fully legalize recreational cannabis in October of last year, and a much more positive outlook on federal legalization in the U.S analysts are expecting that annual cannabis sales could easily hit $200 billion.
But investors should note that not every company in an industry moving as fast as the cannabis sector, will survive the storm, to see a prime example, just look at Ontario based CannTrust Holdings, who have lost over 75% of their value since late March of this year. However there could very well be a light at the end of the tunnel for CannTrust as they do have a lot to offer should they be the target of an acquisition.
It’s been said by many analysts who are watching the cannabis industry closely that one of the smartest moves at this point for Cronos Group, would be to put their excess liquidity to use, and acquire struggling companies in the sector. CannTrust is one of these companies. Cronos group certainly have the liquidity for the acquisition after receiving a $1.8 Billion equity investment from tobacco giant Altria, so there is no question of if the company has the money. Now buying out CannTrust would make sense for Cronos for three reasons, firstly CannTrust is one of four well known Canadian cannabis cultivators that supplies produce to 10 of 10 Canadian provinces and Cronos is not quite there yet, but with a swift acquisition could certainly propel themselves in the right direction.
Secondly, Cronos has an incredibly strong focus amongst the Canadian growers on the derivatives market. Now, with CannTrust, who are expecting an annual output of 200,000 to 300,000 kilos almost half of their production will be conducted outdoors. The majority of outdoor cultivation, is of low quality and thus will most probably be used for extraction purposes, which would be perfect for Cronos group, as they have a large selection of extraction deals to work with already.
And thirdly Cronos Group is not yet a top ten cannabis player, if royalty and joint venture companies are considered. However if Cronos were to secure the acquisition of CannTrust it would propel the company into the top five in Canada and solidify its place as one of the top players.

GE Parts Ways with Solar-Business
General Electric, have announced their plans to sell a majority holding in a lesser known solar energy business BlackRock Inc. giving the investment giant a larger footing in an emerging market as the ailing manufacturer looks to shift their investments in other sectors. Details after the pullout have explained that a fund managed by BlackRock’s Real Assets sector, will now be the owner of 80% of Distributed Solar Development, a new company that has been created from GE Solar. Financial terms have yet to be disclosed on the new venture, however a spokesperson for GE said that information will be made available over the next few weeks.
The agreement between BlackRock will further increase GE’s attempt at streamlining the company, as CEO Larry Culp is instilling plans to rescue the company by narrowing down the many focuses the company have, and increasing their moves into the aviation, gas, and wind energy sectors. The American giant are currently using mergers to exit their positions in the oil and locomotive markets, and a spokesman has said the company are evaluating strategic operations for their venture capital operations. GE solar, a primarily consultation business with between 50 and 60 employees have been under the wing of GE since 2012. The offshoot of the company does not actually produce solar panels, and focus on creating solutions for solar and storage within the commercial and public sectors. GE originally tested the waters of solar panel manufacturing, however sold its technology to First Solar Inc. in 2013.
With the news that GE have reached an agreement with BlackRock, the company saw shares fall 1.5% down to $10.23 while BlackRock also saw a slide of 1.5% down to $470.13. BlackRock’s Real Assets unit, currently have over $50 billion USD in client commitments, and started their renewable energy sector in 2012.The deal between the BlackRock and GE comes at a time where investors are prioritizing the solar segment after initially being a more riskier segment for the company. Part of the move by investors is down to the fact that smaller solar farms can offer potential returns 2% higher than that of larger sized projects.

Microsoft Adds new security to their cloud storage services
Microsoft are creating a safer environment for its OneDrive cloud storage users after announcing they plan on adding a new layer of security to their existing product. The enhanced security features called Personal Vault is a new feature that is available for office 365 users and creates another portion of your cloud storage that is set behind another wall of security, with the goal to stop anyone from accessing or stealing your important files.
The rollout of Microsoft’s new security system comes at a time when Microsoft says attacks on cloud based storage systems are becoming more frequent and more people’s data and private files are being leaked. In simple terms more people are actively trying to access you online storage facilities more often. Microsoft have made accessing your personal vault extremely difficult. The system involves the standard access to your account, being a username and password, however to gain access to your personal vault you will need to use a second authenticating process. Which could very well utilize biometrics via the fingerprint scanner, or facial recognition technology that is built in to many modern smart phones, alternatively they could look at implementing a secondary application that would generate a time sensitive one time passcode.
The general manager of Office 365 marketing Seth Patton, has said the implemented feature is there to help differentiate the OneDrive cloud system from their competitors in a diluted market. The main competition in the market being Apple’s ICloud, and Google’s Drive both of which do not yet offer a separate ‘vault’ in which can be locked by two step authentication. Patton said in a report on the new features, that the idea is for consumers to be able to feel safe knowing that a certain section of their online storage where they store sensitive documents will be extremely difficult to access.
Microsoft are making sure they have all bases covered when it comes to the security features of their vault, as when using an unrecognized computer the software will log you out after 3 minutes of inactivity, the idea is that if you are using a friends computer or office computer then you won’t be able to accidentally leave your important data open to prying eyes. Microsoft’s personal Vault is set to roll out to users in New Zealand, Australia and Canada first, with the rest of their global users gaining access to the services in the latter quarter of this year.
