everyone is some type of artist these days which is great but kind of muddles the being an artist as an excuse for weird behavior. a century ago if i interacted with people the way i do and my company went "ah! forgive my friend for being a bit off-putting, he's an artist, you see" and then throughout the night you would grow more and more curious about me. i wont talk in public and so you coax me outside, you have thoughts about a recent exhibit of that crazy stuff theyve got going on in europe nowadays. my eyes widen. still you cannot tell what i am thinking and i hardly dignify anything with a response. you move to kiss me. i back away and run. walking home, my more outgoing friend asks me how we got along. i tell them i might be in love with you, and i sleep soundly. i get up quietly the next morning, wrap myself in a robe and have a cup of tea and stay up for the next three days making twenty paintings of the intense sexual dream i had about us.
