I too suspect that this is an attempt to use the Sabbat as a barrier between themselves and their family. I've tried to explain that the Sabbat is neither refuge nor sanctum. Unfortunately, words, theirs or mine, can only set so much of a precedence.

As for your questions, the Giovanni are anything if not the embodiment of familial intrigue. Not that such traits are universal, of course. They claim to be willing to fight but as I told them; Were that all one was valued for, they'd be a sealed crate addressed to the nearest city under siege with a 'to whom it may concern' notice.
