This is the morg blog of Seattle artist Samuel Case. I generally reblog work I'm influenced by and, occasionally, post my own work. More of my work at SamuelJaymsCase.com or on Insta (same name).
Hello! I've been looking for some inspiration, and I was hoping one of you might be able to lend a hand. My uncle and his partner are getting married in September after having been together as long as I can remember, because they are worried if they don't marry now we will lose marriage equality in the US. It's dark times for sure. My uncle asked me to read something at their ceremony though. I've been trying to find a quote/short story/poem by a queer author that captures the love they feel for each other and I feel for them as well as the seriousness of the times we live in. If anything comes to mind, I'd appreciate any input! Thanks
I am so sorry you are feeling that kind of anxiety, and I hope that these small passages do something to ease it. They are some of my favourites.
"When mankind gathers on that final day
And faces pale from fear of reckoning,
I'll hold your love in the palm of my hand,
And I will say, 'By this I'm saved or damned.'"
By Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī
Translated by Zara Houshmand
"We two boys together clinging,
One the other never leaving,
Up and down the roads going, North and South excursions
making,
Power enjoying, elbows stretching, fingers clutching,
Arm'd and fearless, eating, drinking, sleeping, loving,
No law less than ourselves owning, sailing, soldiering, thieving,
threatening,
Misers, menials, priests alarming, air breathing, water drinking, on
the turf or the sea-beach dancing,
Cities wrenching, ease scorning, statutes mocking, feebleness chasing,
Fulfilling our foray."
Walt Whitman
"We live in poison. The planet is dying. We can choose to consume each other, or we can choose love. Even in the midst of despair, there is always a choice. I hope we choose love.”
Theres a post going around apparently which is kind of useless defeatist discourse that's like "feminist and lgbt movements are abject failures" ... i just sigh cuz ive heard it all before. Ive got an even meaner critique for you but i know yall dont want to hear it because it calls you out for anti Blackness and how folks never appreciated the forerunners in those movements, only jumped in later and said geez what are all these other liberals doing here we need some radicals! Meanwhile you dont do community building or mutual aid work and then you wonder why you dont have community
There are weeks when I find myself looking for grace. After the death of Nex Benedict I’ve been working to find some peace, to find an outlet for the rage and the pain of it all. Another one of our kids is gone, erased by ignorance and hatred, and the influence of irresponsible adults with political agendas. Rest in Peace, Nex. You deserved better.
Here’s a link to their family’s GoFundMe. It’s reached the goal but their mother has promised to use the money to help queer youth in Oklahoma.

I’ve also added a link for Cocoon House, an organization here in Washington that helps homeless youth, an overwhelming number of whom are queer. If you have it in your budget to donate, please do. Every little bit helps. https://www.cocoonhouse.org/donations
Here's the video version of my discussion of the leaked emails that prove the Hugo Awards removed finalists (me, RF Kuang, Paul Weimer, Neil Gaiman & Ep 6 of Sandman) for political reasons, despite us having the required votes. Because too many of you are making assumptions without bothering to read the full exposé.
There's a lot of nuance in this case that I hope people can acknowledge. No, it is not "sinophobic" to criticize the Chinese government's severe censorship policies when anyone who's spent more than ten minutes on the Chinese internet knows how bad it is, and there IS evidence of pressure in this case. There's nothing to accomplish by pretending like it's not a thing. You're not furthering the world proletarian revolution by speaking over the lived experiences of Chinese comrades and denying factually shitty aspects of your favorite AES.
Yes, the Western and presumably white members of the Hugo admin team DID circle back to racism by trying so hard to appease the Chinese government that they preemptively censored Chinese diaspora ~ to be safe ~ on extremely flimsy reasons without even reading our books. And of course, confusing Nepal for Tibet.
I've slowly been chipping away at drawing scenes from that imaginary Muppet retelling of the Princess Bride, figured it was about time to share what I've drawn on Tumblr!
I might've added the BG3 Art Book to my dnd assets stash
It' 100% does not have things like the 5e players' handbook + 5e’s character sheet, several gm guides, critical role's explorer's guide to wildmount, baldur's gate and waterdeep city encounters, 101 potions and their effects, volo's guide to monsters, both of xanathar's guides, a bunch of other encounters, one shots, and class builds
In no way are there any pdf’s relating to any wizard who may or may not be residing on any coast
(Edit that I’ve moved the folder to the new link above! So if you catch a different version of this post that link won’t work anymore!)
There are parts of queer history we will never touch. People who lived quiet lives and were forgotten within a generation. Stories that were tucked under the bed and hidden from the world. Diaries that were burned with nothing to recover. Beyond the hiding, there is queerness that never had the chance to be discovered, people who felt different but never gave themselves a moment or sliver of grace to explore, much less vocalize it. This is worth mourning. It is worth cradling to your chest and feeling to the fullest devastation. More than anything else, it is worth remembering.
Rashida Tlaib has set up a petition to send to the White House to recognize and stop the ethnic cleansing and forced displacement happening in Gaza. If you’re a US citizen please sign. I have no illusions that this will change policy, but the public outcry against their actions must continue. We will not be distracted or discouraged from continuing to object to these humans rights violations.
btw I’ve found these stretches from the WAK blog very helpful when knitting a lot:
Plus make sure to take breaks regularly - and stop if anything starts to hurt!
especially with gift knitting I know it can be tempting to push through it for a deadline, but it’s really not worth causing long term injury. (And anyone knit-worthy should be understanding of that, imho.) Stay well :)
