today was going to be the day. she must have repeated that to herself a hundred times in front of the mirror before she left her hotel room. she simply could not take it anymore, the doubt, the ancitipation, the hope. even if she could recognize david’s body among a giant crowd, or if she would forever melt at the sound of his laugh like she did the other time she saw him at the bar, she needed to make sure she was not hallucinating.it was crazy to think she would find him here of all places, but it would drive her even crazier to wait any longer. she quickly walked towards the elevator of her floor and pressed the button frantically. she had a plan, she noticed david, or well his clone, went to the bar at a certain hour. if she got there on time, she could catch him, whether it was a glimpse of his face or the sound of his voice. then, she would figure out what to do next. the door finally slid open, loudly, and as she slowly walked inside, she gasped.

A chance to dress up as Jasmine was appealing to Mira. Elders in her family, along with all her uncles and championed by her father, had called her Jasmine in sickeningly sweet ways in doting moments, the same way others might call their daughter darling, or love. Mira had adored it when she’d been a child, but as she grew older she began to see it as just another attempt to make her a pretty little thing on a pedestal. Prim and proper. A princess. 

So her initial response to the option had been a sense of revolt. Anything but that. Until the concept rattled around in her brain in a different way, and she realized that turning the prison that was Jasmine into the uniform she fully intended to privately disappoint her parents in was poetic. 

She was feeling confident in her outfit and decided to leave herself open, hoping she seemed approachable. She preferred when people came to her over the opposite. So she was pleased when a woman stepped into the dusky sun in front of her, speaking warmly in a way that Mira found charming. 

“Well, maybe it’s a whole new world,” she replied coyly, speaking in her best attempt at an American accent. She was concerned about being recognized, but the practice was good for her resume anyway. She moved over in the lounger she’d been laying on, providing some free space on one side that was definitely not enough for another person, but Mira was a big fan of testing unproven theories. 

“It’s not exactly a magic carpet, buuut you haven’t really met me… yet,” she pointed out sweetly.

she watched the other woman move on the chair and if they wanted to fit both on it, they would have to be really close. that was one thing nikki did not mind at all. “i’ve always wanted to meet a pretty stranger and fly around the world...” slowly, she took place on the chair, her arm brushing over mira’s. “and discover the surroundings, but also the person i’m with.” her finger tips carefully caressed over the woman’s exposed and tan legs. the hint of accent just added to her beauty. “we should change that right now, princess. if you want, of course.” veronica’s eyes switched from the woman’s chocolate irises to her very own hand, running up and down her thigh lightly.

veronica was certainly excited to see everyone, all dressed up in some of her favorite characters. to say she coped with the pain of her divorce with marathons of disney movies would be an understatement. she would thrive on them and on the sound tracks from morning to bed time. the best disney movie, in her humble opinion, had to be aladdin. while the live action felt a bit off, the original movie, and mostly jasmine, always brought a smile to her face. so when she noticed that woman, whom she believed was new around the hotel, she started beaming. she made her way towards the chair where the woman was laying on, skin glistening under the golden hour sun and looking absolutely beautiful. nikki stared at her, avoiding eye contact at first to gather enough courage to finally speak. “i was really hoping to see a jasmine costume, today.” she started, her voice sounding shy. “i didn’t expect to actually meet princess jasmine.”

childhood + teenage years + early twenties:

only child of a loving family of restaurant owners, veronica inherited the best conditions to become a traditional girl from a just as typical and traditional family. she was loved by her parents, she loved them. she learned to cook at a very young age and had a noticeable talent. she was the preppy girl from the picture perfect family. she had a dog, alfredo, that she rescued from the streets and who became her only friend for most of her childhood.

in high school, she bonded with a pair of twin siblings who came from a completely different background. from what she knew, their parents were big gamblers and lost most of their savings in casino nights. these people had that edge and gave that down to earth vibe nikki admired yet could not completely comprehend. they were a dynamic trio that balanced one another perfectly. jack (npc) was a total artist who encouraged nikki to express herself, valerie (npc) was very analytical and had a talent at reading through nikki while nikki herself was that sweet figure who was easy to please and could easily please everyone.

when they graduated, valerie confessed she had no idea what she would be doing with her future with no money at all. they were sitting in nikki’s family restaurant and drinking beer in cask with nostalgia and a part of sadness. jack had big plans, he found an apartment in san francisco and wanted to become a graphic designer. nikki, however, was torn between taking over the family business or making a living of her own. that was when valerie drunkenly suggested to work at one of the newly opened strip clubs nearby their neighborhood.

veronica worked as a stripper during college until she graduated with a degree that would soon become irrelevant and useless. with contribution from her parents who never even judged her for her job (it was true nikki did tell them it was just a dancing studio) and with her savings, veronica moved out of nevada and headed to california.

she worked in clothing stores, in malls and eventually in expensive boutiques. the other sellers and all the clients noticed she had a talent for matching outfits, accessories and every details making sure the person who wore them would be at their best. eventually, she started doing this as a side line. she promoted her skills on social media and got quite the hype. she worked for magazines and influencers. she became a private stylist as well. no rest for the wicked! 

along the way, she met the man who would become her husband. they really had a perfect marriage. being career driven and uncertain of being able to meet her parents’ expectations, she could not lie to herself. the marriage ended in a peaceful and respectful divorce. she is still convinced he is the love of her life. 

at 26, she started a youtube channel when she became a bit bored of her casual job. on her channel (youtube.com/user/floralpatternslover), she does a lot of hauls, diy accessories, storytimes, recipe tutorials and various challenges. she has 2 millions subscribers and just as many instagram followers. nikki lives off of that more nowadays. she tries to post at least once a week on youtube to keep the ad revenue coming. 

she makes a lot of money, but she really doesn’t act like it. she thrives on late night trips to 7/11 or on dollar store snacks and stuff. she gives a lot of money back to charity, and clothes back to other organizations as well. similar to chris klemens,
