back home from the dungeon in the good old days~

buddy daddy au where kyu is able to hide misaki and miris whereabouts so the organization is never able to find or hurt them.

years later, when miri is 14 and misaki is on her death bed, she tearfully tells miri the whole dirty truth about the situation with her papas, as well as how much they loved her. once she passes, miri is placed into the care of her grandparents but she cant stop thinking about her papas and the few cherished memories she has. despite her uncertain feelings on their job and their absence from her life, she still loves them. misses them.

so, with all the brilliance of a rebellious adolescence, 14yo miri unasaka packs a simple travel bag of clothes, toiletries, allowance money, food, and the few physical details she has on her papas then runs away in the middle of the night, only a short note left in her wake to ease her grandparents worries (though it really does no such thing)

she wanders aimlessly for a while, trying to make her money go far while avoiding the police looking for her, but all her leads reach dead ends and her memory is too faded to recall the exact location of their home together. after a close call with an insistent deputy, she gets turned around in her escape, helplessly lost, feet hurting, tired, feeling hopeless, and desperately thirsty...

surely this little hole in the wall bar would be ok to hide out in for a bit?

(after rei kills boss and the two safetly leave the biz to co-parent miri w/ misaki)

misaki: ok so the other daycare moms had a lot of questions after you two stopped showing up and i just rolled with it so

misaki: (slams large notebook on table) heres the things you need to know. we met in college, had a whirlwind romance and were married for two year but it didnt work out. you got miri while i focused on my musical career, attempted to become a stand-up comedian-

kazuki: remind me to kill kyu-chan for that one

misaki: -but it wasnt going too well. then you met the oil baron who whisked you off your feet and were married within the year-"

kazuki: wha-rei????! we're not married!!!!

misaki: well, you are now. keep up, will you? those mothers can spot weakness a mile away. anyways, he uses his fortune to spoil you and miri to make up for his emotional constipation-

kazuki: ???!!!!!!????????!!!?!!

Yes! Absolutely!! I love emimob 💕 we’re in this together anon!

I think mostly their relationship would evolve from friendship, because I seriously believe they could be good friends. In the span of that one week they hung out a lot and they seemed to have a good time together, so I could imagine them doing things like that more - just sitting together on the grass while Emi writes and Mob watches the clouds, or reading together, quietly enjoying simply being together… And feelings developing over time, after Mob lets go of Tsubomi and is more open with his emotions.

They wouldn’t be a very over-the-top couple, mostly simple dates and walking home together (sometimes with Ritsu too), I think the word that fits best for how I see them is “comfortable”. They can be themselves with each other, they don’t have to pretend and they can take things at their own pace and that’s what starts their friendship and later relationship.

Also Mob holds Emi’s hand a lot because he daydreamed about being able to do that with his girlfriend so much and when Emi hugs him he ends up almost on his tiptoes because she’s taller than him!

And Mob finds another use for the pay he gets from Reigen (the first one had been to buy Ritsu sweets because he realized one day he had money to treat his baby brother if he wanted to) in the form of buying little gifts for Emi 💝
