The 12 grapes
I have been trying to take forward blogs for years. I guess I don’t have the discipline to do it, simply because I’m constantly trying to write about too many things. Travelling, life in China, etc. This time I’m going to do it about myself. And will keep each entry brief, 1 page every time.
While taking the 12 grapes during New Year, I made 12 wishes. 3 days later, I am not sure what those 12 wishes were. So I am writing down the ones I remember and the ones that have been on the sack for a while.
On January 2nd, one of my dearest friends in Beijing asked me how my goals for this year were going on the first day of the year. He said, “quantify your goals and make them reachable”. Me, a person who loves numbers, has never thought of organizing her life by quantifying it. With numbers and indicators and stuff. I mean I do a simple version of this for a living.
And here are my 12 grapes for this year.
1.    Find a job that I love, in Energy, technology or the internet sector in China. Stop playing around, that’s what you love and that’s why you moved back to China.
2.    Invest more. Save enough money to buy my very own property in Colombia.
3.    Visit Tibet, remember this must happen between March and September, and New York on your way home. Maybe take the TranSiberian to go to the World Cup this year.
4.    Try better on the love scene. Lots of lessons were learned last year. Learn to communicate better and tolerate more. Learn that not everything is perfect. Stop putting yourself in situations where you are only going to loose. Choose wisely.
5.    Be more healthy. Go more to the Gym. Stop smoking. Learn to meditate instead.
6.    More health for my family.  Since I cannot control how healthy my parents and siblings are, I’m going to change this for helping my sister starting and going through a couching process. Pay it forward.
7.    Reach HSK level 5 – Business level. Start writing small pieces of this blog in Chinese.
8.    Stop wasting time on Netflix, watching Friends over and over again. Instead read more books. Create a book list. One book a month. Include short books and stories in Chinese.
9.    Expand your network. Make more friends met more people. Attend more Start up events, and tech events and party less (better stay home watching Netflix less).
10. Stop comparing your life to other people’s. Instead  keep on writing a blog and quantify people’s and my own life. Create indicators to do this. This is the first step. Ask random questions to random people.
11. Get the stuff you want, and use it wisely. Do not use your credit card to pay for these, save, use the credit card to get the points and pay it within 3 months.  A scooter, a compact camera, a projector, a sound system, a record player, a nice pair of sunglasses. One by one. No rush.
12. Pay your debts. Get a new bank for God’s sake.
