Animals have never given you their bodies or anything that comes from their bodies, don’t pretend like they have. If you’re going to participate in animal exploitation the very least you can do is admit that you take these things from them and you were never promised their lives or livelihoods nor granted any entitlement to do so.

It’s fucking sad that society has shamed me into feeling like a tool for saying, “No thank you, I’m vegan,” when offered certain foods. Some people just get so uncomfortable and deffensive when they know you’re vegan that it’s literally safer to say, “Nah I’m just not hungry.”

“The notion that nonhuman animals exist for the benefit or convenience of Homo sapiens is a logical absurdity and a moral obscenity.”

I have yet to meet a single vegan who didn’t turn his eating habits into a political statement.

“Animals do not ‘give’ their life to us, as the sugar-coated lie would have it. No, we take their lives. They struggle and fight to the last breath, just as we would do if we were in their place.”

If you don’t care enough about animals to be a vegan that’s fine. But just admit it. Don’t make up bullshit excuses about how you’re allergic to soy or your parents won’t support it or other shit like that. If you don’t care just admit you don’t care

Don't give up!
If there are any newer vegans out there that still crave animal products, if your mouth still waters at the thought of a juicy steak, crispy chicken, etc., don’t feel guilty. Most of us come from a heavy meat and dairy background, and old habits die hard. You don’t have to hate the taste of animal products to be a good vegan.
As long as you have enough fortitude and selflessness to remember that the well-being of your body, animals, and the environment is more important than a little pleasure from a short meal, that’s all that matters. The more you practice and the more you discipline yourself, the more you will adjust and the easier it will become. Every day, you are helping to make a huge difference. Let that inspire you, and embrace it.

“So beneath the many differences, there is sameness. Like us, these animals embody the mystery and wonder of consciousness. Like us, they are not only in the world, they are aware of it. Like us they are the psychological centers of a life that is uniquely their own”

Carnist love talking about how our ancestors ate this, and ate that. I wish all that effort they spend talking about what our ancestors did in the past could be spent talking about how animal agriculture is destroying the future for our descendants.

Regarding a comment on my last post: yes I do want the complete and entire eradication of the animal agriculture industry because it does 0 good for the planet and those inhabiting it.
However I realize that’s unrealistic, that’s why I ask people to be vegan as much as they can.
If nothing is stopping you from being vegan 100% of the time, you should be vegan. That’s my stance.

online rapture leftists love to pretend as if their leftism is the most enlightened one. as if „no ethical consumption under capitalism“ >> hating on people who shop second hand or go vegan, people who vote or make small positive changes in their community etc. is somehow the superior stance.
as if giving up hope and refusing any action is not the literal easiest thing you can do.
black and white thinking is not hard. refusing compassion is not hard. saying that everything is ineffective is not hard. not changing you habits and saying everything is futile anyway is not hard.
you know what is hard? gray areas. complex situations that tear you compassion in 10 different directions. making a change to your everyday habits.
but the cool thing is that making these changes and accepting the complexity of reality is also rewarding, and will give you a sense of peace that many people are searching for. and also it’s, y’know, something that will actually change things for the better.
