Reading Update š¦š
I started and finished Bad Blood by Bella Jacobs in two days. It was a fun read, about two sisters who find out their mother is a witch, and that their family is essential to keeping a protective barrier up over a town of supernaturals. But to renew the barrier, the eldest of their family (the Wonderfullyās) need to marry a town elder, and the main character Blairās twin sister Annie has decided it will be her getting married. Cue Blaire trying to figure out a way to stop her sister entering into a loveless marriage, and faking being in love with a vampire to stop the marriage ceremony.
It was fun and quick, but I donāt think Iāll pick up the other books in the series that follow the other sisters. I think there are two other books in the series out now?
Gave it āļøāļø.5 because it was fun but Iām not going to reread it or pick up the other books. Iām happy that I got it for free through a Stuff Your Kindle day last year, and Iām sure someone who enjoys romance more than I do will love the book.
Reading
Iām still reading Before the coffee gets cold, Iām on the last story rn. Iām enjoying how all the stories interconnect a bit, not just through the cafe, but though the characters that keep recurring because they keep coming back to the cafe.
Iāve also started listening to The Power of Six, the second book in the Lorien Legacies series. I read the first book, I Am Number Four, years ago, and I figured that I remember enough that I could jump into the second book. Mostly because the series is one thatās available through my library to borrow without having to wait. Thank you Libby š godsend. Anyway, Iām listening to it as I play Stardew Valley, and thatās how I was able to listen to it so fast (started it two days ago and Iām already 65% of the way through = around 7 hours through). Also, Stardew Valley update: Iām in Winter Year 1!! It feels so weird not farming any crops, but at least I have chickens and cows and I can actually go mining for a full day now. My plan is to upgrade both my axe and my pick to iron/steel (canāt remember the name lmao) before the end of the season.
Also! Hahahahahaha god I read so many books at the same time. Iāve finally started reading The Eternal Ones by Namina Forna because my library finally got a copy of it. The power of emailing your library and requesting a book šŖ Libraries are honestly so cool, you can borrow physical books for free as well as books and audiobooks if your library is on sites such as Libby or Overdrive, AND you can request for them to add books. Not to mention any events that libraries host. I love libraries š
Back to the book, Iām excited to finish the series, and Iām so tempted to reread the whole series and write notes so that I can flesh out the wiki because there is almost nothing on that wiki. Iāve had to make myself lists to remember who is who, and who is uruni to who
Anyway thatās my reading updates!

Reading Update š¦š
Just finished the first story of Before the coffee gets cold. That was so good, I love how it ends with Fumiko realising that the future is hers, that what happens between her and Goro in the future can be changed. She couldnāt do anything with the past, even when the cafe allowed her to go back, because itās the past. I also like how the story ends off hanging, there is no direct catharsis of āthis is what she does nowā, no direct āand so she decided thisā. She just Kazu and the cafe, and leaves, and that is that. She is the master of her own story from now on, that is her story for herself. The cafe doesnāt get to witness the rest of it.

i read or started reading a lot of books this past month. most of the time i can only read 2 books per month, but iām always reading around 5 books at a time because mood reading is superior
READ
Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree
āļøāļøāļøāļø.5
honestly, such a good book. it did take me a bit to get engaged in it, but that was mostly because of my own personal situation at the time. i just didnāt have the mental energy to pay attention. but holy shit iām so happy we chose this for book club, it was such a good start. it is low stakes in terms of the world outcomes, but the shop is so beloved by all the characters that itās high stakes for them. loved seeing all the characters interact and build a community together
An Heir Comes to Rise by Chloe C PeƱaranda

this was a quick read, and i will be reading the other books in the series (you will learn this about me: once i start a series, by god am i going to finish it). there were a couple scenes where it felt like the author was rushing through things in order to jump to the more interesting scenes later, but it was still pretty good! iām excited to see how the writing improves and how the story goes in the rest of the series.
Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas
āļøāļøāļø .75
so hey. i am not an sjm girlie. i got these books from lifeline for like $3 each, none of my money went to her personally (i donāt think i have to explain all the problematic shit sheās done). but, see the point in my review above: i started, so iām finishing. also, iām reading so my friends donāt have to. anyway, itās really fun reading the book and pretending that all the characters are a little queer, until she writes unnecessary Straightā¢ļø romance. as an aroace person, it does nothing for me, but i can recognise that it does stuff for others. i think most of my problems with this book come from my own delusions about how the characters are interacting (*cough cough* me fully believing chaol and celaena were platonic best friends in ToG and then getting whiplash when theyāre dating in CoM).
i did enjoy the āfuck abusersā aspect of the characterās stories, and i did enjoy seeing all the storylines set up in the previous book interconnecting in this one. i will be doing the tandem read for the next two books because i hate myself :)
