Vicki heard a voice — of course she did, she still didn’t quite have a handle on her vampire senses, which was sort of driving her crazy — and turned around. Immediately her mouth fell open and she took a step back, fear visible in the stricken expression on her face. “Stay the fuck away from me,” she snapped, “You and your freaky brother or I swear to god I will go all Kill Bill on both of your asses.” Maybe not the most convincing threat coming from a petite girl who may as well have been cowering in fear, but Vicki would be damned if that stopped her from telling off the hot, but shady as hell Salvatore brothers.

Things had become highly uncomfortable for the both of them; gazes locked yet no words spurred. He wanted to say something, anything, to ease her pain. He had been the cause of the most pain in her life and deep down he felt guilty for it. He wanted to help , even if her return was undoubtedly concerning. Surely with her return brought consequences? It was similar to the time she was last here, there was always reason to believe the worst would happen after it. He was never allowed a happy reunion, not with anybody he loved. Without responding to the sound of his name, he stepped forward. He did not overstep the boundaries, he remained close yet keeping spacial awareness. “Tell me what’s wrong– How are you here?”

For a moment it seemed as though everything had stopped, but then Jeremy spoke again and Vicki instantly reacted, grimacing and clapping her hands over her ears. ( It didn’t help much. ) “I don’t — everything is so freakin’ loud and so freakin’ bright!” She hated the way voice rose and how it cracked, hated how she just knew that within moments, her eyes would begin to sting with hot tears. ( Sure enough they did, and Vicki exasperatedly wondered how that was even possible. She was dead, for fuck’s sake — not as dead as she used to be, though and wasn’t that just the big mystery now? )

dani rolled her eyes at the defiant accusation she was met with, the girl was stubborn and in a way it sort of reminded her of herself. “try me.” she urged, tension seeping into the gentle tone she’d chosen to start addressing the woman with, “i’ve been alive for a thousand years, odds are whatever fucked up shit you’ve been through i’ve seen worse.” daniela hummed with a shrug, her gaze expectant as she looked at the skittish brunette, “i know you’re overwhelmed but, i can help you control it.”

“No shit?” Vicki questioned, absentmindedly rubbing her temple as the distant honking of a car horn nearly caused her to keel over. She’d gotten the same speeches in elementary school as everybody else about refusing enticing offers from mysterious strangers, but it wasn’t like she had many options...or like she actually listened to any of those grave warnings back in the first grade. “There shouldn’t be anything to control,” Vicki huffed, folding her arms as she reluctantly continued, “I’m supposed to be dead. Like, more dead than vampires usually are, I guess.” She felt stupid for admitting it, but if Dani could really help her get a handle on her abilities, then maybe she could also explain to Vicki how it was possible that she came back from the dead.

       elena was walking down the streets when she heard someone talking. that voice was a really familiar voice. the girl turned around to see the other one “vicky?” it wasn’t the first time that she can see someone alive again but this was different, she didn’t know she was going to be there.

The voices were worse when they were directed at her. Vicki decided so when somebody called her name, causing her to whine and bury her fingers even deeper into her hair. “What part of shut up did you not understand?” she retorted, not quite registering that the voice was familiar or who it belonged to. Everything was still much too overwhelming.

It was unexpected, and rather startling to say the least, but as he inspected the agitated girl it became clear that there was something else happening beyond their awkward interaction. “Are you alright?” he asked, though quietly. She had made it plenty clear that she was against him speaking, even if he had only just opened his mouth.

It was a simple question and Vicki figured that she should maybe just try to answer it, seeing she wasn’t sure how much of a bitch she was hoping to come off as quite yet. “I’ve got the worst headache,” she mumbled, “and I don’t even know if I can actually get headaches. I’m pretty sure it shouldn’t be possible, yet my freakin’ brain feels like it’s about to explode.”

The sensory overload was always an easy tell, combined with her reactions to the bar, it wasn’t too hard for the vampire to put the pieces together. “You might want to stick to the side streets doll, or the bayou. Tends to be easier on the senses.”

“Way to shut up,” Vicki sniped, scoffing as she squeezed her eyes shut a little tighter and buried her fingers even deeper into her hair. “And what the hell is a bayou?” she demanded distractedly, “It sounds even sleazier than whatever’s going on in that scum factory.” Vicki didn’t gesture at all towards the dive bar she’d stopped in front of whilst trying to gather her bearings, but there was no way this guy could misinterpret what she was talking about unless he was even dumber than he seemed.
