Not an unfamiliar tale at all. Not one he had experienced since his days of being under his sire, but one he still remembered as if it were yesterday. The boring nights of only doing what was told, never being anything but a tool. He could at least extend his sympathies.

What's some design elements (name, description, personality traits, art, skills, etc) that you've given your character that you think has the most impact to making them who they are?

His name!!! His name is his biggest impact out of them all, or his names plural. To me they represent two different men, they're both him but they're very different.

Sindri is a leader, a man who cares about his coven above all. Someone who does all he can to make sure others are comfortable and living as well as they can. He cares so much and places so many people above himself. Even vampires not in his coven, he's an elder he'll place any younger vampire before himself.

Whereas Arkyn is more the man he was before being turned. The more wanting and not exactly desperate per se but aching side of him. A man who just wants to live his life without interference, who wants to atone, who wants basic things we all want in life that Sindri sees as not being able to want because of his position.

They're both him, they're his two sides, but they are not equal. Above all he will choose Sindri, he believes he must always pick Sindri, that he has an obligation to choose this side that serves so many than to pick the side that serves himself.

Shrugging off the suggestion. He did all he set out to, to feed. The corpse was a bad meal, why would he bother past that? The fact that he left it in it's undeath and didn't end it's sad existence was a gift enough.

Honestly, with the number of times she gets pulled away from her actual work, only for a nuisance situation like this; it's little wonder that the bruxsa was irritated. Normally, she did not speak of the dead in such a manner, but she was running on one week without sleep and overworked as it was.

Hell, she was tempted to wander off and sleep, which sounded much better than waiting for this deceased fool to return.

A day or two? Who had time for that she thought.

"Nothing untoward" is enough to get a stifled laugh from him. He would hope not, not with him there were much better candidates for her than an older man. Offering a small nod of agreement, anything would be nicer than sitting around waiting out the clock, why not spend it chatting?

He was old, and he felt it. Maybe not the oldest, thank whatever gods might still be willing to be praised by him. He couldn't imagine the toll of being an ancient, one of the first generations, being over a thousand years old was more than enough.

Once she reached his age? He made himself out to be someone more ancient than time itself -- though, maybe that's how it started to feel the longer you were alive. Perhaps it was her own drive to see and experience everything this world had to offer that kept her from agreeing.

Magenta hues traveled back in the direction of the dance floor where some partygoers were socializing while others conversed. The ball had been going on long enough that surely any requirements he had to meet would have been finished by now.

"I see," she trailed off, checking the windows to any surrounding balconies. Well into the night -- just as she'd expected. "In that case, would you like to sneak out with me?" A hand was raised as if pledging honesty in a court, the other placed delicately over her heart.

"Nothing untoward, I assure you. I just can't allow an important guest to grow bored. Which, might I add, you're much younger than some Vampires I've met. Give yourself more credit, My Lord."

A muttered response with a scoff accompanying it. Not that he had a hatred for their kind, far from it they were the only ones he could view as family, but it did get a little annoying time to time with how many of them there were.

people are prone to reducing others down to the first few traits someone shows them. what would be the predominant three thoughts you would have of your own character? what do you think others' perceptions are?

My 3 thoughts of Sindri are:

That he's a lot kinder than he seems. He's a very caring man, it just really depends on who he's talking to and what mood he's in. He's a lot nicer to vampires in general but extremely towards his coven.

That he's extremely lonely. He might not seem like it, or recognize it himself, but looking at him in whole its super easy to tell. He's lost everything he cared about, he lost his life, he lost his free will and freedom for a time, he lost his family and everyone he loved, and carries the burden and weight of it every single night of his life. He allows people into his coven, they're his family and he loves them dearly, but he doesn't allow himself to love outside of that.

And that he's extremely strong. Man's an ancient vampire who used to be an extremely skilled viking, renowned for his strength and combat prowess, being turned only enhanced his natural strength tenfold. He's busted. So much that he does measure every movement, gesture, touch, step, as to not put too much force into it as he doesn't want to hurt anyone typically despite the whole cold nature towards everyone else.

I feel like everyone views him as just that, cold. He's cold, he's a killer, he does delight in killing and in bloodshed always has, but he's more than that. He might only show that kind side to people who come to him wishing to be turned with good reason and to his coven for the most part, but he is capable of showing it to others as well. He's not always aggressive and cold, he will talk to non-vampires like they're actual people not prey and he does that frequently. He's just more than that bad side of him and I enjoy the kind side of him just as much as I do the cold violent side, and I hope more people take note of it and see him that way not just "violent old vampire".

An eyebrow raises at the tool used to threaten him away. So... cutesy... Though what could one expect looking at the woman before him, it'd be more surprising if it was just a plain cannister like others. Still the thought of using pepper spray against him, and such a pink cute one at that, was truthfully a bit funny. Scoffing at the evident fear.

Opening his arms wide as if he was inviting it. It wouldn't be the first time someone tried such a thing, so many new limitations and "laws" on self defense really just worked to benefit beings like himself. Pepper spray was nothing more than an annoyance to clean from his clothes, she could drown him in it if she wished and it'll only serve as an irritant to his already sour attitude. But if they had allowed humans to carry knives, true actual knives made from silver, maybe he'd be worried. Maybe they'd have less bodies to clean up.

Quickly and aptly pinned down. Either she was an amazing judge of character or his age was showing more than usual. Perhaps a mix of both.

❝It's much more comfortable being able to do as one pleases with little outside interference, parties are the complete opposite of such a thing. But being old means my attendance is expected, and at times all but required.❞

All because no one had managed to kill him yet. Some of those parties left him wishing that capable of a warrior would suddenly emerge from the crowd and strike him down in an act of mercy.

"Consider me indebted to your graciousness. I'm going to hide out here for a bit, then." His reply came as no surprise to her in all honesty. These parties had an unfortunate habit of being rather -- well -- stuffy. People had too much of an opinion about titles and roles they played with them -- it made forming actual connections rather difficult.

Her head tipped, silver hair pooling over one shoulder as she contemplated his words. "Not one for parties, hm?" Not everyone was like her, she supposed. Though, she far preferred night clubs and underground supernatural parties over formal balls.

"What are you one for, in that case?" This conversation suddenly seemed all the more interesting. He was one of the few people she'd had the pleasure to interact with at this particular event, after all. "Let me guess: I take you for a glass-of-wine-and-book-by-a-warm-fire kind of person. Am I close?"
