Oh hey, poisonous glassware! My favorite!

But for those concerned, just drinking out of the glass won't give you lead poisoning. It's the paint on the outside of the cup that has extreme levels of lead and cadmium, so as long as you're not licking the outside you should be fine!

(Though I would be careful about washing it - you don't want toxic paint chips flaking off in your dishwasher or on your sponge and getting onto other dishes)

I've heard that goodwill sorts out their uranium glass to sell online at a markup, but I lucked out this weekend!

And the best part is that this jar has the same motif as two other pieces I already have in my collection~

It always makes me happy when I find pieces that belong together at different times and in different places, it feels serendipitous✨✨✨

I've finally finished my display case! The first version of it, anyway. I decided I wanted 365nm UV lights and not the more standard 395-405nm, and I didn't want to spend $80+ on 365nm LED strip lights that had no reviews online, so I went with a pair of Sunlite bulbs with good reviews. The lights are good, but my cabinet is too tall for them, so the light is very weak on the bottom shelf.

Now to wait until my cat is distracted so I can open the cabinet to take detail shots without Soshimi climbing in....

Well. I was going to be fancy and order 365 nm UV LED strip lights but they're expensive and I think I would have to do the wiring for the power supply myself but the listing didn't give me complete instructions on what parts to buy so I'm switching to the "easy" route - using bulbs in the built-in case lights and building a box or something so my TV can still sit on top of my display case

#there were also no reviews on the fancy lights :/ #and the website was definitely designed to sell to professionals #hence the lack of instructions #i can always switch to fancier lighting at a later time if i dont like the bulbs #but they were cheap and had good amazon reviews from people who collect uranium glass

... Do I have the same decanter as Elias Hodge?

It's hard to tell (how dare the Dimension 20 crew not give me a clearer image, lol) if this is the same pattern, or if Elias's decanter only has the larger diamond pattern on the bottom and the top part of the pattern is just the other side of the bottle.

My assumption is that this is Anchor Hocking's Wexford pattern (I believe my decanter is a knock off of Wexford)
